Allow me to revive this thread from the depths of the abyss if I may ... because today, whilst teleporting, I came across a new peeve of mine.

Folks, if you need a teleport, but one party member isn't even in the zone yet, or three of you need signet, or someone's checking the AH, please don't shout until everyone is ready! I had at least five different people ask me to wait for their friends before casting, all the while watching as others shouted for teleports I could have made money from. Time is money guys, so please don't waste mine!

Old thread, I know but I never got to participate!

But I really only have one pet peeve:

Melee that will not create a skillchain to allow NON-BLM's to burst.

Rdm and Smns have great spell selections to be able to burst on a skill chain. But, for some reason, everytime I play RDM or SMN and ask if there can be an SC invovled, I get the following reply: "There's not a BLM in the pt, what's the point?"

Jee, I don't know, anyone with half a brain in his head knows that SMNs can burst really well. RDMs can get by with right equipment just fine too. Why can't SMN's and RDM's get equal treatment? Wass da dilly yo?

WARs below level 40 without Great Axes. I don't really chastise anyone because of it, but damn everyone's EXP would be so much sweeter if WARs were spamming Shield Break left and right.

My new one: Farming with my static to get funds for spells and crap, so that we can get going through the level grind on our chosen mains, and then, and then!!!!

Going all the way to Al Zahbi to get my freaking dice and discovering that the little turd that sells them has been kidnapped. Someone of my level has no other business out there. No dice on the AH. Nothing. So now I'm screwing the other guys because I can't get my effing Chaos Roll, Healer's Roll, etc. (up to Lv30). So now I'm stuck waiting around in a crappy, 1940's stop-motion animated movie (Al Zahbi) waiting for some fully capable high-levels to rescue this little idiot so I can move on with my game. CRAP!

My suggestion? Farm up enough gil to buy all of the remaining dice that you need, whether you need it in one level or twenty levels. And then sit on that gil until the next time the NPC is available and buy them all. Store the dice in your locker / storage / whatever.

Word. I won't make that freakin' mistake again. I just didn't think it through very far and now I'm kicking myself. I only got to the point of "Duhrr, I can just buys me some dices every 15-20 levels and use thems up before I come back." I didn't get to the point of "Hey now, this NPC isn't always available and I'd better take advantage of the opportunity while it's here..."

                  • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

                    1. Earlier today I was training my Paladin, and a guy commented how I had Eisenbrust gear when I should have bought Kampfbrust gear, while he was in his level 7-15 armor on a level 31.

                    2. The same guy tried telling me how to do my job. I was doing fine with keeping hate, no one complained, and I had to heal after the fight for more MP. So I used Banish and the monster died (low hp) and he told me that it was a dumb move because Banish doesn't keep hate (yet I killed it). So I told him to get over it, and was about to push ctrl + h when he says "Now go heal, MP = greater than TP.

I hate when people tell me what to do, I know my PLD is only level 30 but I'm pretty sure I can tank pretty well.

                    3. When you PL someone, you let them know it's only for a short amount of time, then they ask you to PL them somewhere else for more experience, and the place happens to be VERY far which wouldn't be an issue if they could Air Ship or Chocobo. Then then you say no and they get mad at you :/

                    Haha, I'll stop now <_<

Totally agree x.x. Espically when I'm pulling on thf and boom, brd claims....
Then thf/war, only way to beat those bards voke pull >_> yea, even after TA WS, I can steal steal hate cause of double attack and tripple attack kicking in like crazy. Or on days of /drg or /nin, <_<; nothing to pull at all until respawns with it being a race between elegy and marksmanship. Completely ruins Mamool Ja Stagin point or any other popular ToAU I rarely go to.

/nin sucks for dding >_>; pure and simple, people need to get over it and find new subs.

Idiots fighting Colibri onry....>_>; only good thing, save money NOT using food on those. On monk, get enough hate from not using food alone, lol, ain't going for broke using a new dish every time I get hate with snatch moresal.

New one for myself, people who only talk to you to attack what you say in shout.... Like you say something just to lighten the mood or start a non flame war convo and it just ends up like that -.-;;; And it ends with "You make monks look bad." >_> wtf, that person doesn't even party with me on monk or at all on any job, no right to comment like that -.- (Used to be in the same social ls awhile back, but still has his "I'm superior" tone >_> )

Oh, my pet peeves are less like peeves and more like seething hatreds:

Fighting in an area, but because the combat menu obscures the compass(more specifically, the weather indication), and am unable to see the weather change, and get unexpectedly jumped by an elemental.

Might want to add TP burns in general

I always looked down at a person that says a certain race can't do a specific job in the game. Honestly, most of the people I've met via game that sticks to a job because of their race sucked at doing it.

In example, I've partied with a taru paladin, white mage, and black mage before and I kid you not that they had no clue how to conserve MP. They just assumed that they’re the best because of their MP. So they spell away either to heal or nuke. Right! Let's just say in most of those parties, we didn't really get a good amount of exp as they failed at their job.

Also, I've joined a party with a galka white mage and an elvaan white mage and they knew how to conserve MP to keep the party going. Btw, my static consisted of my best friend who is an elvaan as my white mage for our static from level 52 - 64 and he did very well. Some of our ls mates or misc. friends as fillers that joined the static praised him too because he knew what he was doing as a white mage even if he was an elvaan.
