I dunno, crystals are usually gone the second I list them, same with spell scrolls. Low tier voidwatch is always nice though.

If the the money is irrelevant, why not just buy the materials instead of farming less productive things

Cluster/eggs…yes, those were a waste of time to farm. Probably won’t do that again.

But meats weren’t less productive. My goal was to amber farm coeruls for NM key items. Once I got them, I’m done with that activity. It just so happens, the things I’m going to amber farm off, drop coeurl meat. Why buy stacks when there’s a good chance I’ll get some anyway?

With ambering, I’m getting xp, cruor, key items, synth items and gil items (aug crappy gear).

BTW, are you up to speed with what amber farming is? If not that might clear up some confusion.

I find that dubious. That or the folks you're running with aren't doing a good job of farming cruor.

I agree. XP farming is different from Curor farming. So don’t base the amount of curor/hr off an xp party.
If you specifically farm curor correctly, you can get insane amounts.

Or like cid said. Getting VW is a huge cruor maker. Especially if you can get 6 VW stones. Any time I want a mass brew something, I look for a Qulin shout before hand.

Ever fought him? Well…I never have. Turns out he can reraise. Turns out he can reraise a lot.
Not a tough NM…just kinda threw me off guard when he first reraised…the another surprise when he reraised and cast death on my pet.
Had to of raised up at least 10 times.

i won with about 200hps leftover because...a Bst/war with no temp items cant really heal himself ya know.

Yeah I generally look up NMs I’m about to fight. So I opened the page and took a quick glance. Saw he was a floating skull. So I figured he’s the same as other similar NMs like that. Spam corpse breath and high tier magic.

And while that was true…I wasn't expecting death spell or reraise...let alone 10 of them.

People shouting that they have dyanmis currency in their bazaar for sale. And the kicker…not even shouting/selling for a discounted rate.

Look, I get it, you want your currency to sell fast. I understand that…but there’s literally 200 other people standing next to the same guide stone as you (hang out place on cerb) bazaaring the same shit at the same price if not cheaper. Either don’t state the price in your shout (forcing me to check you for them) or shout at a discounted rate.

Slight delay but I just noticed something that I have to point out: while getting cruor in the midst of worm party is a nice bonus--that is not the 'correct' way to farm cruor. It's true you'll cap your lights that way and have a decent chunk of time so the money isn't terrible but it's no where near a true cruor-farming group's capabilities. I'm pretty certain based on his comments that Fire has yet to actually join a real cruor farming group.

In order for a successful cruor party to take place, you must alternate between two different types of mobs (for example: aby-vunkerl you would alternate between rarabs and puks, or rarabs and crawlers--I forgot which is the norm). If done right, in fact you'll get the opposite of 300k/hour--your exp per hour will be total shit. The trade-off is since you're not fighting the same type of mobs over and over to build EXP, you're in turn building up your cruor per kill by alternate mobs. I forgot the exact cap, but if done right you'll be getting 500-600 cruor per kill. This is something you, of course never see within a worm party since you're doing the same mobs over and over.

300k an hour? not even close--at least in exp. However, a well-executed cruor farming group will pull in 300,000~400,000 (maybe even higher depending on kill rate, breaks, etc.) cruor an hour.

Doing some quick math here...one chocobo blinker is 200 cruor, so a stack of 12 is 2400cruor. If you farm an average of 400,000 cruor an hour you can buy roughly 167 stacks of chocobo blinkers.

Since you resell the blinkers to NPC's for 529gil each or 6348gil per stack, you can essentially make 1,060,116 gil an hour.

That also assumes that you have the patience to buy 167 stacks of chocobo blinkers because you have to buy each one individually by selecting it and typing it

Basically Cruor to Chocobo Blinkers shouldn't replace actual gil making in the unlikely event that SE does destroy the price. Instead it should be seen as another resource that you can tap when you need gil ten minutes ago or to keep you going when sales have been bad. Having it as something to give you that extra 50k you need for a new upgrade is nice too.

You can buy them in multiples now. You're still limited to buying 12 at a time, but it's sped the process up considerably.

Looking at it as a reserve you can tap into as needed is probably a good way to look at it.

And really Cruor can't really be looked at as anything other than a reserve really. Cruor farming parties are too unreliable to really make it your primary method of making gil. Especially when consumables are still as essential as ever.

I mean look at it this way. A Meat Mithkabob is +60 Attack. People will pay millions of gil just to get a +5. People who can't afford Red Curry Buns for an Attack food are going to grab a yellow Bun or even a Mithkabob. Not saying you should sell only Mithkabbs but taking a look at that consumables sell is very reliable.

Wanna know what I have plenty of patience for? Clearing up inventory, talking to an NPC a bunch of times then talking to another NPC a bunch of times for 1m+ in gil. This seems a lot easier than going into Dynamis and farming coins. A lot safer too. And depending on how much inventory one can clear…probably a lot faster.

And you’re better off farming curor in VW shouts. You get 15-20k curor per fight. And it’s not uncommon for groups to do 6-18 fights. So average 105k – 315k depending on how much the group does. Not to mention all the extra little cash (or big, depending on the VW mob) you get from VW casket.

Seems like a great way to make gil imo. I’d do it, but I’d rather spend curor on a brew for mass orthus slaying atm.

It also completely relies on a pick up group actually defeating the VNM . That and you will always want to but some brews anyway because some Abysses NMs are a pain to kill.

It just took me 41 kills to upgrade from a Clear to a Colorful Abyssite and 1 kill to upgrade from a Colorful to a Blue Abyssite. At that pace, Yacumama is going to take for-fucking-ever.

Hey, hey, I'm farming tier 3s over here for drops that aren't even guaranteed. You got it easy man.

Hayde and I blew an Orange Abyssite last night and didn't even get a drop for our effort. That was a bit of a bummer.

I was listening in on the Skype conversation. I heard the exact point where cid's soul was crushed by finding out that it's not even a guaranteed drop.

It was both amusing and sad since this is one BiS item for Thief: Coruscanti - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more

Thankfully Qilin is also one of those most popular VwNMs to farm. Sadly the dagger has a horrible drop rate and the competition for it is every other Thief and Dancer in the game.
