I suggested first person view to our tank a few times. But he’s not the brightest bulb so…cant say they did that. Pulled about 5 or 6 mobs. Pld tanked with earth staff and spammed Earth Crusher till they were low while 2 whms spammed diaga. I was under the impression that DoTs give them TP, but a set amount like when you strike, oppose to TP over time.

Problem wasn’t getting them to use Firespit, problem was 1 out of every 20 hit the door. And the door takes 3-4 hits. On our last run we got 1 door down before the 10min marker…and I think 1 or 2 hits on the second door.

As far as their weapons. Don’t see how it’s possible NOT to break them. I at one point went barehanded on Bst and managed to break their weapons.

Their weapons break when you hit them with a critical. We used magic exclusively.

I tanked in front of the door with my back turned to the mobs... wearing all the -evasion gear I could find. I spent the whole fight being healed by our WHM and nuking the mobs with Ninjutsu. It kept their weapons in one piece and still allowed me to feed them TP while they TPd off my squishy ass.

To clarify:

Dia and Bio feed TP only upon being cast, assuming the initial cast inflicts damage (as in, the spell's damage wasn't resisted to nothingness).

Poison, however, only inflicts a status effect. No TP is ever fed from Poison.

Do it the way my group did. Stick the mobs with DoT to feed them TP over time and work on 3 of them at once.

/BLU is also an excellent way to feed TP. Bludgeon alone will add 30 TP if all hits connect, and the recast is retarded low (11.75 secs.) With some haste you can shuffle through Bludgeon > Sprout Smack > Wild Oats to feed it 50 TP every 9 seconds. And since BLU spells generally follow WS mechanics, they can't crit unless the description says so. If more than one person can bring /BLU the mob will be vomiting WS.

Try an evasion tank. I really think that is all you are lacking on this bad boy.

Wait, weren't you supposed to evade their attack by moving to the side so it would hit the door? It's been a very long time but even I got this done with a pick up party and I'm almost certain that's how it worked back then.

Nah, they just get fixed in the charging attack animation then spit fire, if anything you would still receive the damage even after moving to the side, so you'd know you lagged and didn't get out of the way in time. Kinda like when trying to move away from Final Sting.

But it's been a very long time, so who knows, it may be my memory playing tricks on me.
