On my person- I always keep all my Full-time and macro gear for NIN and SMN on me at all times. On occasion I've been known to also include COR... although I've been collecting more and more gear for that job and it's making it harder to carry the full burden of all 3 jobs at once.

Mog Sack- Filled with all of my equipment and items that have charges and are used circumstantially.
Example: Warp Cudgels, Retrace Scroll, Warp Scroll, Teleport Rings, Teleport Necklaces, Nexus Cape, Decenial Ring, Emperor's Ring, Homing Ring... etc.

It also contains items that are expendable... like Bullets and Cards for COR... and Tools for NIN... as well as any and all seals that I pick up.

Mog Satchel- Filled with the equipment for WHM and PUP as well as anything from COR NIN and SMN that I'm not currently using or don't anticipate using any time soon. Most of those jobs require a good number of weapons and such that are circumstantial and can easily be stored without the need to pull them out all the time.

Storage- Filled with any of my job specific gear that is either obsolete or not finished being upgraded to make it usable... like Limbus Gear... Salvage Gear... not yet upgraded AF2 and AF1 gear... etc etc. Also included in there is some of my gear that I just collected because it was SMN specific... and I had a bit of a hard-on for SMN specific anything. Evoker's Boots for instance... are practically useless... but R/EX and drop off a BCNM that was a bit of a pain in the ass.

Locker- The dumping grounds for everything else... like Magian Trial Seals... stones and random R/EX junk that I need to hold onto for one quest/mission or another. Some are the R/EX items for Jobemote quests I have yet to unlock... others are just pop items for Dynamis NMs that I only plan to grab if I'm going to go to Dynamis... which is currently on the back-burner anyway.

Take all the Crystals, xxxites (shivites...etc), Geodes, Clusters, Staves and charged items (emp's band) and put them all in your mog Sack. Use it like your "expendable" storage where you can pull things out and drop things in. Set your inventory to "auto-sort" and remember to manually sort from time to time as well to make sure that things are stacking properly.

Take all your Spells that you have that you arent able to learn yet and put them in your Safe in the MH. This way they don't clutter up your every-day inventory. Do the same for the Balance stone and Jewel as well as any Seals you have.

Talk to the moogle outside of the Bastok Markets MH... or the one outside of the RuLude Gardens MH and buy the Mog Satchel from him for a little over 1k gil. Use the Satchel to store all of the gear you're not currently wearing for the job you're on.

Everything else... use your best judgment... and when all else fails... throw it in storage.

I would totally recommend looking into getting a security token if for no other reason than the sweet, sweet inventory boost it offers.

Yyg is a silly person when it comes to organizing his inventory. Mog Satchel is clearly where all of your fishing gear goes.

My rundown looks like this:
main inventory - the gear for the job I'm on. Silent Oil, Prism Powder, Echo Drops(doesn't matter what job I'm on, these three are always there).
Mog Safe - Red Mage gear plus a few miscellaneous items.
Storage - Corsair gear, crafting supplies and other odds and ends that I will almost never use.
Mog Locker - Dragoon gear
Mog Sack - meds, food, beastmen seals and a mess of other things I randomly pick up along the way or might need at some point while I'm out.
Mog Satchel - fishing gear and warp cudgels

Ug….my main inventory alone is about 70+/80 with just Bst gear
Anyway, here’s my typical lay out.

My main and satchel inventories are pretty much filled with BST and ‘JOB’ gears. JOB meaning whatever I plan on changing to next. I pretty much swap out PUP/WHM/WAR gear with the storage NPC when needed. I can barely hold 2 jobs worth of equipment.

Moghouse is usually filled with things I plan to get rid of eventually . Such as Emp items (seals +2 items, weapon items), Geodes, Avatar-ites and VW drops (Mirrors, riftsand…etc).
Since I have my HP in Jeuno and I can exit to anywhere from my MH, it’s pretty easy when I get the last item needed to hit MH then ToM moogle.

Storage and Locker are filled with trophies, obsolete harder-to-get gear, and old ‘one day I’ll get to it’ quest items. But mainly it’s things that are 1-time-able so I don’t want to drop (things like Opo-opo Crown that cant be requested (iirc))

I strongly suggest using the storage NPCs throughout Jeuno.
Armor guy has slips for the following
Nyzule, Salvage, Relic, Relic+1, Relic+2, Damaged Relic
AF, AF+1, Emp, Emp+1, Emp+2, Event
(possibly others)

Shami can store the 4 types of BCNM items (Beast/Kindred Seals, Kindered/High Kindered Crests). Both easy to access, saves you a TON of space

I recommend paying the extra $1/month to get a mule. Empyrean armor seals can be sent to your mules, along with a bunch of other RA/EX stuff that may not be storable on the Porter Moogle.

I remember saying that I'd never level xxx job, then /toss-ing a bunch of seals. I really beat up on myself when I had the job leveled and had to re-farm the seals for it. It's not hard, as yyg pointed out, but it is annoying and that time could be better spent doing other fun stuff.

I don't think she really needs to fuss over it this early. If you're gonna hoard anything for AF3 upgrading it should be all those darn boots. Nothing is quite as horrible as having to farm for AF3 feet after having tossed a pair months previously. Seals are easy, finding the base feet pits you against a spiteful random number generator.

That said, I agree that investing in a single mule is totally worth it early on. It lets you put more stuff(read: fish) on the AH and a place to hoard all your trophy gear that you don't really want cluttering up your storage areas, but you can't bear to get rid of because there's an awesome adventure that goes with it. Not essential by any means, but it is convenient.

I completely agree with Cid about those goddamn boots. When I first started to farm for them I joined a PUG to do it. We farmed for hours and came up with about 3-4 pairs between the 8 of us. My SMN feet were not among them.

Eventually I got my hands on them... but it took weeks. In the following months, I would randomly stumble across various pairs while doing NMs or just in EXP parties. I have WHM, COR, NIN, SMN and PUP fully upgraded to +2 and I'm currently hoarding the following iirc:

BST
RNG
SCH
BLM
THF
PLD

In case I ever need them. I would hate to have to farm them again.
