the less damaging AoEs, the better. and things that dont silence. i'll probalby have to do it pup/dnc with daggers and whm frame.

Last time I passed through dangruf to pick up drachenfell water on sneak and invis all i saw was crabs, gobs, worms and rabbits.

As no one in my Linkshell was online at the time, I decided to try and complete a quest for "A Shantotto Ascension." I buy most of the 'ingredients' required to synthesize everything and then farm for whatever is not available (Pumice Stones) or obnoxiously expensive (Magicked Blood) in the AH. Getting the Pumice Stones took about an hour to collect and yet the Magicked Blood pretty much fell into my lap in a matter of minutes (why is it that the stones are so cheap yet the blood is 10,000gil). Anywho, with everything made, I buy one more Earth Crystal along with a Poison Potion and then begin to synthesize.

The Crystal breaks. YOU LOSE EVERYTHING.

Perhaps I should level up my Alchemy skill... BUT STILL.

That was most likely a case of the random number monster fucksquatting your attempt. I have an Alchemy of 5-10 or so and I got that first try.

If I recall correctly, skill really didn’t have much to do with it (but I don’t know for sure). I thought it was just luck.

I personally was 1/1 with 0 skill and I’m pretty sure my buddy who was maybe 50 skill at the time, broke a couple for friends.
I remember there being a rage about it because the synth broke fairly often and jackasses were bazaaring the items for insanely stupid prices.

Same. From my experiences talking with people, it seems that no matter what your skill is, it's kind-of a 50/50 shot no matter what.

Don't bazaar them. It'll take you the rest of your FFXI life to sell them all that way. Put them up on the AH for 8k each and you'll be out of them in 2-3 days.

I'm a new player... Level 18 Warrior. I completed the first three misions up to and including fetichism (I started in Bastok)...

I'm enjoying the game, but the solo grinding hasn't been that fun. At what level or point will the game get more interesting and "multiplayer"...

I know I'm late to the game, so I don't blame FF11 but rather my lateness!

You're level 18? Head over to Gusgen Mines (to the right of the Crag of Dem in Konschtat Highlands). It's not listed on the map... but it's there. If you head inside that zone, there's a floating book near where you enter (called a Grounds Tome) that you can talk to and select to start a "Training Regime". I believe it's page 1 that you want... but I could be wrong. Whatever one tells you to kill 6 enemies of the skeleton family is the one you want.

This is one of the books that are a part of the Grounds of Valor (GoV) that you'll hear people talking about. It's a great way to level and it's definitely a lot more fun than the solo grind.

It'll take some getting-used-to. Just put your flag up (looking for party) and talk to anyone else you see in the zone who's killing things near the first open room. Join with them and kill what they kill. You'll get the hang of it as you go. Ask them whatever questions you want about the event and you'll find that people on our server are usually very helpful if you're up front with them about being new.
