I had a similar experience with a BST friend the other day in Abyssea - LaThein. I had decided to slap on Regen atmas and Apoc to go skill up Marksmanship/Sword/Dagger on COR. The BST wanted to come, I said suuuuurrrre.

As with Romyro, I wasn't using any atmas that were heavy-hitting... and the most damage I was doing was coming from Last Stand (because it's the only 2-hit Marksmanship WS). After about 10 minutes of getting my mob murdered by a Dipper every 3 seconds, I said:

"hey... how about we each solo our own mobs, hmm?"

...and quickly followed up with a believable excuse:

"you know... you work on Pearl and I'll work on Amber with Wildfire, that way we can farm Dark rings too"

Before separating, I was getting nothing, not even a .1 skillup on anything. After I was allowed to solo my own mobs and only let him near me when the rolls wore off, things went a lot better.

One more solo skillup session and I should at least have Dagger and Sword capped.

As for Marksmanship? I really need to find someone to craft me Bronze Bullets in vast quantities.

Deal. Also: If it's Fire Sand you're after, whenever you go to Abyssea - Mis. Coast, check the weather as you zone into the dunes. If it's fire weather, run over to the busted up boat on the opposite side of the beach from the maw. There's a ??? spot that pops up when it's fire weather, it gives you 1 Firesand. I'm not sure if it's repeatable by zoning, but if it is, the maw might be useful for that. I'll report back when I give it a try.

That being said, it's not exactly reliable. For a desert... it sure doesn't get hot very often.

I'm pretty sure fire weather is a myth.

Firesand is really the only component of bullet making that's troublesome. The ingredients for it aren't steadily supplied to the AH in my experience and even when they are, crafting it is still annoying and an extra layer of crystal expenses. I can't HQ it reliably since my alchemy isn't even 60, so for me personally buying it off the AH is usually the better deal. Bronze ingots are dirt cheap from the guild. Like 20 odd gil a piece cheap. Fire crystals are up to 5k a stack last I checked(I remember when they were 1k ) but it is what it is.

I don't do much crafting since I was never able to turn a profit on it, but it's super useful for when stuff isn't in stock on the AH and I don't want to wait.

Wouldn’t farming that be faster than waiting for weather or AH?

Looks like its bomb ashx2 and a Sulfur.
Couldn’t you buy (or farm) a few stacks of Ash then slaughter Mandies and craft as you go?
Seems like a low craft and NQ nets you 3.

In theory, but I'm lazy and can't be bothered when I wouldn't be turning much of, if any, profit on any of the synths anyway.

My plan is to hit up Dangruf and farm Sulfur off the worms there. Then I'm going to head somewhere where I can find plentiful Bombs to farm for ashes. I shall bring you 3-4 stacks of each. That should provide me with enough bullets to get to the cap. If not, I'll have to deal with it. Farming is not my favorite thing to do... and as such... I intend to only do this once.

Iunno, maybe another rant here…I’m bored at work as usual…or maybe I’m wrong.

Tell me what combo you would think is better for skilling up club (possibly staff to). If you have a better solution (that I can accommodate) I’m open ears to that too.

A) WAR/DNC. DW-ing Warp clubs. You got Double attack and Haste Samba. Most WS (which I believe are all single hit). Decent attack. Lots of –DT. Waltzs. Aprox 16% in gear.

B) WHM/DNC. DW-ing Warp clubs. Haste spell and Samba. Hexa Strike (6 hit WS). Minor Double Attack (Brutal). Not so decent attack. Some –DT. Waltz/Cure VI/Regen V. Aprox 10% haste in gear.

Assume Apoc/MC/MMorC&D Atmas on both

Now, I personally think the WHM/DNC combo is better. It’s going to have more overall Haste with gear/spells/abilities combined. Slightly more attack rounds since War would kill faster and you’d have to pull another mob (not that it takes very long). Hexa strike giving you 6 additional chances to skill per every 100% tp. 1k+ cures and Regens to make up for the loss in –DT.

And I’m not sure if it makes a huge difference other than a higher cap, but Whm has a higher club grade than war.

I always favored skilling Club on WHM vs. WAR. WHM buffs seemed to make so much of a difference, where on WAR, I always felt like I was using all my TP to keep myself healed. My experience was before abyssea, in the tree, however.

I think you're approaching this the right way; I vote WHM/DNC!

That's how I got my club skill to 300+

Also: Roundsey Wand FTW. Rock bottom damage = Longer time spent on 1 mob + Cure Chocobo Sound Effects

Ok good, so I’m not crazy. The guy just kept telling me skill ups would be slower on whm and it’s better to do it on war.
He honestly feels he knows more about it because he burned most his jobs to 99. Even though he went through the skilling up phase…I guarantee h did even consider Whm/dnc. just stuck with War/Dnc. 1 job that can cover most weapons.

Also keep in mind he’s the smn I spoke of earlier BPing for heaving damage trying to skill with me.

Anyway, another pet peeve is that there are so few mobs to Amber off in Aby-Tah. Building Glav pops solo is going to be rather difficult.

the less damaging AoEs, the better. and things that dont silence. i'll probalby have to do it pup/dnc with daggers and whm frame.

I'm pretty sure I've been that guy before, although I try not to be since I'm fairly certain I don't know nearly as much I'd like to tell myself I do. On the other hand, it's hard to sit there and watch while your friend TPs in a Vermilion Cloak.
