Old peeve (that's surprisingly relevant to the previous post): people who give front-line Red Mage a bad name. Right by the Sandy Auction house just now was a Red Mage in full Teal, some random Sword and Buckler, and miscellaneous STR and Attack gear strewn about elsewhere. You got your Orochi Nodawa, you got your Cerberus Mantle, you got your freaking Puissance Ring +1 . . . I can almost sympathize with haters, if they think that's all that it entails. Bonus points: their title when I checked them was "Paragon of Dragoon Excellence" . . .

Well the Orochi Nadowa could be part of an idle set...Nope, I got nothin'. There's no excuse for anyone to ever gear themselves like that. Scorpion Harness is what, 10k now?

Nah, I think what you've got there is just a grade-A Gimp. They'll be fucking terrible no matter what they try to do on Red Mage.

Well, the thing is that indeed many of them really are terrible. I was just in a party and people were sending me tells thanking me...for giving them Haste. Inquiring further, it seems a lot of damage dealers are accustomed to not getting it these days.

As far as getting into EXP parties is concerned these days, I think actually getting out there into the field means a lot. If I want to join a party, I put seek up then just start fighting mobs around the area where parties generally go and start soloing Dominion Ops on my own. It really isn't long before I get an invite. At least by demonstrating you're capable. Once I'm in the alliance and people start talking about replacements, they inevitably start inviting people in the area that are soloing. People that are just standing there and shouting usually don't stand a chance.

...of course, I'm sure the fact that you're just going to continue fighting them for mobs if they don't invite you has something to do with it.

People are just terrible all around. I was in a group with a NIN yesterday who didn't have Blade: Hi. But his gear swaps were so frequent, there was never a moment where he wasn't blinking out. The sad thing is that actually made him one of the hardest-hitting NINs I've run into for a while. More likely, I'm in groups with people like this MNK who gushed his pants every time he did Shijin Spiral for 2700 damage.

PLAYERS WHO DON'T KNOW THEIR F***ING JOB!

No seriously, when a player doesn't know their job it bugs the living hell out of me. I watched a warrior let a WHM tank, when they could've prov'd hate right off it. The end result was a Dunes party almost lost, but was saved due a a RDM running by us. Casted a good few Cure III's and we were well back on our feet. I've also seen a MNK ask me questions about using a great sword. People if your going to get a job, DO IT CORRECTLY! It takes only one idiot to fuck up a well rounded party and screw everyone over in the process due to them lacking knowledge about their job. I've seen whole Abyssea parties go down because of this, the new GoV needs to go. They need to set up an old school server, I miss Dunes parties and sitting in Quifim grinding away at worms and crabs. It gave a thrill of accomplishment knowing that next level would be your last in order to get that next limit break or merit point. This whole book burn needs to go. Someone got Deathja handy for that? :D I mean seriously these new people piss me off with their smug attitudes when all they did was Book Burn to level 50 and BB'd some more from 60+. Now there are nothing but newbs running around in Abyssea with a level 30 mindset because they don't know how to play their job properly.

I have WHM at 95, RDM at 90. A group wanted a healer, so I geared on WHM.

Leader: (in /tell) Do you have RDM?
Me: (in /tell) Yes, Level 90.
Leader: (in /party) Can you come RDM?
Me: (in /party) Sure!
Leader: (in /party) Ok... We're 5/6... Just need to shout for a healer. Anyone know of a WHM or SCH friend?
Other Party Person: (in /party) No, but wasn't Janay on WHM? Why have me and Jan on RDM?
Leader: (in /party) One of you main healer, then other backup...
Me: *REMAINS SILENCED* ...

Adventures in leveling /DNC

I woke up in Gusgen and got an invite while trying to fend off two Ghouls. They were apparently synced to 17 for some stupid reason, so of course I died shortly after accepting the invite. Turns out they had a few White Mages power leveling. Except they did an awful job of it. I died three times in a row because they couldn't clear ghouls or cure me as I raised, and the Ghouls never wandered out of aggro range of my corpse. When I called them on this shit, I got ridiculed and they played it off as me sucking. Yeah fuck you guys, aggro camping itself on my face and you're bitching at me for running through the tunnels while weakened because what the fuck else am I gonna do with 0 TP left and aggro from all sides? They didn't enjoy calling them out on having the worst power-leveling ever so they booted me.

I feel like being a spiteful asshole, so they're just gonna have to fight me for mobs now. Merry fucking Christmas. Your threats of GM calls will make your tears all the sweeter.

Pet peeve last night, I was in a FULL fucking alliance of people in Gusgen Mines. We had a RDM 99 who was tossing around cure I's and II's. You fucking serious? Just because you want to reserve your MP you want to let our party fall to ribbons? Screw you. She let most of our party die and we were sync'd at 16. Are you serious? We even had a DNC back up healing because she couldn't keep up with the heals. That's the shit that bothers me, how do you have a 99 Job and not know how to play it properly? She was so terrible at her job, she did NOT ONCE cast a Cure III. She should've been tossing Cure III's since we were pulling Ghouls. Like honestly I've never seen a shitier RDM in my life. I've seen a level 75 do better than a 99. Quite honestly, these new kids need to get the fuck out, tit's is not an option.

How the hell does an entire group of people synced at 16 in Gusgen die in the first place? You have to be legally fucking retarded to die in that situation. 2/3rds of the group could be AFK and you would still have to actively try to die.
