Your right. That seems like the best solution. God forbid one learns how to use the map after so long.
If your new to abyssea, I get it. if you have shit like this accomplished

Every job to 95+ (from abyssea).
I think capped out on all merits for all jobs/categories (even after the recent update).
Mostly all skills capped for at least 95 (cept for like…guard/parry).
Has a large amount of +1s
Has a decent amount of +2s.
Has Full fame in all abyssea areas.
Has all boss/cauctar/shinryu kills complete.
Needs about 8 more atmas for Atma of Savior (mainly needs the T3 vnms).

Figure it out.
Every time I do an event with my shell there’s 3 or 4 people who know where to go and 3 or 4 people who need friggen adult supervision.

If after all that time you haven't been able to simply ignore them I suggest having a bottle of Aspirin nearby while playing.

I think it's better to try and educate them whether that means me being nice about it the first few times or being a completed jackass the following 100 times.

On the subject of BST, was doing Voidwatch today. Was on RDM, not on BST. Was listening to this guy rag on and on about how he hates that BSTs are soloing mobs and how it's a useless job. And I thought to myself how sad it is that the job, in a way hasn't really gone anywhere. It's still the solo job that is fundamentally too weak to use in group events.

I love where Bst was and where it is now. I like it more now though. I’ve always liked Jugs over local pets (when applicable). I’m also optimistic about where it will go in the future, should it have more updates. And no dime-a-dozen DDer is gonna convince me otherwise.

It is a little depressing that I love probably one of the most hated jobs in ffxi…but it is what it is. I played 3 jobs before it and it was the most exciting for me. I guess it’s hard for people to understand I just don’t want to be some DDer that’s marginally different from the next. 8k Ukos are cool…but not what I’m looking for. While it may look useless to 90% of the community…(and their not completely wrong, it usually is useless in a party)… I’m more proud of my accomplishments I’ve earned on Bst than I am on Smn/WHm/Blm/Nin/Brd/Pup accomplishments combined.

I’ve seen plenty of halfass players pretty much leech through missions/quests/NMs by having 4-5 other solid players behind them. With Bst, whether you succeed or fail…it’s all on you. You either walk away in shame or walk away holding your head up high.

Oh yes, I absolutely agree BST is in a much cooler position than it was before. No other reason for it to suddenly skyrocket as a popular job to have leveled. It feels much more complete than it did before. It has a plethora of pets to choose from depending on what you desire for the situation as oppose to the old paradigm: Lars if you kick ass, Carrie if you're a cheap ass, FunguarFamiliar if you're less of a cheap ass. We can now choose from an economical pet, a pet with support healing capabilities, a pet with Treasure Hunter, pets for damage, pets for movement speed. Overall, it's just a much more complete picture of a job with complexities to it.

It just feels like soloing was made more relevant to the game and that is why the job is suddenly popular. But in the eyes of the playerbase, it still lacks what it needs to be included among the pantheon of mainstream damage dealers like WAR, MNK, SAM, RNG, or DRG.

As for Saevel, if it's not a hopeless disconnect from what people expect out of the game, it's that he expects you to jump through hoops to conform to his vision of RDM. When you wish to speak of generalities, he wants you to go into such specifics that it becomes more trouble than it's worth to prove him wrong. I made a comment about "Upper tier" content, and he starts demanding I go into exactly what I mean. Do I mean Voidwatch? Do I mean specific NMs in Voidwatch? What about Abyssea? What about the any of the mobs located at F-8 in Abyssea-Grauberg (I don't know what's there, I just made up a coordinate)? How about Limbus? That used to be endgame, right?

And I don't think I was being unfair in my reply to him. Even if I find his idea of being a RDM/DRK hybrid in Voidwatch completely idiotic. Some of these Voidwatch NMs? They don't play games! They do area of effects attacks just as regular melee swings. They afflict everybody in range with 2 or 3 debuffs every 15 to 20 seconds. Literally, there are some fights where you're casting Paralyna, Silena, Erase, or the like as if that consisted of the entire fight.

I like the way Greatguardian summed it up: "It's not just Red Mage that gets allocated to the sidelines in group play, it's any front line job that takes out more than it puts in by being up front. Anything that's safe for a Puppetmaster to engage is safe for a Red Mage to engage. That's about as simple as it can be put."

I'm thinking to myself about that: at what point is a target so weak that it is irrelevant who is damaging it? That's the thing. There is a lot of content in the game now where you can work with having...I don't know, maybe a different flavor of damage dealer, including jobs like RDM, BST, or PUP? Nobody over on the Official Forum disputes that. I can't even lie here because everybody knows that I do make use of some of the more melee oriented goodies that RDM has gotten lately, even if other people don't like them. In fact, I will say that if I think something can be meleed safely, I don't care what anybody says, I'm doing it. And I'll do it well. Because I have too much pride to be spamming Savage Blade with augmented Firmaments.

But until I witness an alliance championing a BST as its breadwinner damage dealer, there is just no way I'm going to accept that RDM is somehow a legitimate damage dealer for many of these "Upper tier" enemies.

Old peeve (that's surprisingly relevant to the previous post): people who give front-line Red Mage a bad name. Right by the Sandy Auction house just now was a Red Mage in full Teal, some random Sword and Buckler, and miscellaneous STR and Attack gear strewn about elsewhere. You got your Orochi Nodawa, you got your Cerberus Mantle, you got your freaking Puissance Ring +1 . . . I can almost sympathize with haters, if they think that's all that it entails. Bonus points: their title when I checked them was "Paragon of Dragoon Excellence" . . .

New peeve: this new forum layout. SO MUCH WHITE.

1) Being ignored when asking for help in a Linkshell (BIGGEST PEEVE)
2) Girls on XI in general. (They love drama, not trying to sound sexist against my own gender, but still...)
3) Engaged/Married couple, I don't need to know your love life kthxbai
4) People who take me on AF unprepared for the consequences. If I help you with AF, go prepared.
5) People who take the game way too seriously and need to cuss you out over the smallest thing.
