Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
Ok I played from 2003-2005, then 2007, then 2009 and now I just reactivated 3 weeks ago.
Things have Changed lot, mostly for the better and many of my Pet Peeves where simply removed ! (yay!).
However with change always come new Pet Peeves.
What was most bugging me before :
- Introduction of a quazzillion new Rare/EX items whithout adding storage.
- Divided World Auction Houses (At first I did not mind, but playing WOW showed me how that was riddiculous)
- Not being able to transfer Rare/Ex to other characters (having to redo all over, uurrgh).
- Not having a shared "bank" between characters (ie: mithra drops something in for my taru; no 8 item limit crap)
- 8 item limit by Mail thingie.
- Bothering 5 (or more) ppl to do/unlock something that only benefits me (especially without a good LS)
- Classes that are never invited into parties.
( Amongst Others )
Obviouly most of the above list was adressed/fixed. Some of them long ago.
I mean Mog Satchel and Mog Sack ? combined with gobbiebags of 80 for 240 storage ? Sweet !
My new pet peeves are stuff like:
--> Abbysea; where it takes the soul of the game (leveling) and perverts it into somekind or brothel for instant gratification. Admittingly, this is good when you are leveling a job you dont like (such as an annoying subjob, or thief if all you do with it is farm). But it removes good element from the game to party with, and creates a "generation" of players that do not know the camps, hardly know how to play, do not know "how to walk" (ie: without getting aggroed by everything on the map) and so on.
--> Power-Levelling (Not so new but meh); I hated it at the beggining, I hated it in my golden years, and I still hate it today. It's actually much worse today because it's hard enough to get a good PT, to have it ruined by a PL (or 2, which I have already seen a couple times).
--> Ultra-Expensive Items for no real reason; On Asura, Blaze Spikes goes for 50-80k, Drain goes for 100k, Test answers (for Aspir) goes 40k, and 120k for the spell itself. Phalanx is 330k (!). I mean come on. It actually gives me a reason to do thequest, but Phallanx was like 40k back in 2008, and test answers where 5-13k. Now if what I farmed had increased in price proportionally, I'd be fine with that. But there was no real inflation/deflation since 2009 (healthy economy for the win).
--> Blame it on FF14, limited craft skills (points after 60 anyways). It takes so long to level a craftskill in FF11, not to mention pricey. Why limit them ?
--> Bastok always first. Usually I woudn't care much, but Since I messed up my world transfer I decided to use the 3 months to remake one of my toon. 3 weeks down the road, only 2 Outpost warp available... urrgh.
Now the bastok thing is a very minor thing. So is the crafting thing; it's just wishfull tkinking.
The prices, I can deal with that knowing the game so much now.
But Abyssea @ 30 is riddiculously lowbie level. I'd have put that @ level 70 myself (or perhaps 50; seeing how most ppl got tired of FF then, it give them something to so other than grind).
Abyssea is a perversion, it has to go! (and it wont, so we're stuck with it).
As for PL-ing, don't feed the pigeons guys, or they'll poop on you when they get bigger.
My 2 Cents,
