pup is a friggin awesome soloer for all lights…weren’t you the one who told me to used daggers for Aeolian Edge? Pups can use the augmented daggers from A-Grau.

And you have your own personal WHM ><

I do AE farming ALL the time farming Sis frags in A-UL.
Atma of Gales/Ultimate/Sea Daughter and I destroy those detector thingies 5 at a time. Find a whm friend and you can do 10-15 at a time.

I really need to gear up my NIN to do this. I already have the Breeze Satchet and the Breeze belt... my dagger skill is capped... and I have all 3 of those Atmas. I really just need to buy up some -dt gear to soak up a little bit of the damage... and pair that with as much evasion as I can in my other slots.

I never even thought about using Sea Daughter... but it's a great idea.

i believe smiting blow is better than sea daugther damage wise. So go with that if you have whm support. i just use SD because of the low dagger skill pup has. otherwise it takes forever to get 100 tp for me.

i go with ~-15% pdt (twiligh next, -5 on dark ring and jelly ring). If thinks arent looking to bad, i'll swap in stuff to increase damage.

scratch that...i think SB and Marial knife are more for upping damage when brewing. regular farming i would think the faster you get TP the better. Stick with SD

Only with the right subjob. Otherwise it's lolGustSlash, or lolCycloneAOEAggro. And don't try either of those on puks. PUP is not "awesome" for amber lights. It is merely capable under certain conditions. Which ever WS I use, having to use a dagger (C- skill) gimps my damage output vs. Stringing Pummel (B+ skill). And that can mean the difference between staying alive or eating dirt.

And I have been trying to do it, and it's a slow, tedious pain in the ass which has so far not resulted in feet. Which I only want so that I can use up those damn seals already, since I wear Hermes Sandals anyhow. And I gave up, and only went the other day because I was in PJ at the right moment to see the shout.

You don't know how infamous that rust bucket is for only healing you when it feels like it, even with three light maneuvers up? And then there's the bit about how it uses up 10% of its MP on Cure VI whenever possible. There's also no reraise with /DNC and I don't have the reraise atma. And I'm too cheap to use RR earrings until I can get a good source of water anima.

In any case, at least I hate Abyssea much less than I do Dynamis or Lolibri parties.

Weirdly, I just decided to do the same thing last night.

I'm also reworking all of my macros to be consistent across jobs (in the cases where it could be), and working on setting up a spreadsheet of commonly used Blue Magic sets. Because as yesterday proved, I get very flustered when I have to build on the fly.

I don't know how you people with a ton of jobs manage. I get irritated just sifting through everything when swapping between RDM and DRG and that's not even all that difficult to keep track of. Adding a third or fourth job with overlapping gear would just make that nuts.

I don't even have that many. Just four. Granted two of them are the biggest inventory hogs in the game, but still.

When I was just switching between blu and blm it was easy. I had a set of items that was used by both jobs that stayed at the top of my bag. When I wanted to switch I'd open the safe, go one down from the bottom of that list, spam enter until it turned grey find the top of the other job's column in the safe, spam enter until it turned grey and repeat. So long as I never sorted either inventory or had it scrambled by a crash, everything stayed together and I didn't have to explicitly remember 70-item loadouts. Now that I'm trying to bring pld and rdm back into play, both of which share some gear but not the same gear with each other job, it's a massive headache. ><

When I cared I used different inventory spaces for it. When I just had RDM and BLM, my mog satchel was for RDM and Mog Sack was for BLM. When I added DNC and played RDM less and less, RDM was moved to my mog locker (so I could still get to it from any city), my mog satchel was DNC and mog sack was BLM. That included things like food and nin tools. DNC food and nin tools went in the satchel with DNC gear and BLM food and reraise items went in where I would find my BLM gear.

If I used something a lot on several jobs, it often didn't leave my inventory. If it did it went with the job I was most likely to use it with next.

/dnc allows you to have AE and it’s an extremely useful subjob for pup. You have sambas if you want HPs or Haste. You have minor cures along with JA that clears a wide variety of status ailment. Maybe not the best choice in a party setup, but certainly solid for low man/solo.

And why even mention puks? Practically every other family in abyssea doesn’t absorb wind damage.

Then clearly you don’t have the correct Atmas for it. And if that’s the case, get them, try it out, then let’s circle back and discuss. I mentioned the 3 you should use. If you can’t get something similar to it, then don’t do it. I figured that was self-explanatory but I guess not.

Either that or you have the right atmas you’re doing it wrong. I can kill 1 mob in ~20 seconds using h2h or I can kill 5+ mobs in about a minute. You do the math. Actually I’ll do it for you. H2h will give you aprox 3 chests a minute, dagger will give you aprox 5. 5 > 3.

Is that some kind of stupid joke? I’m actually offended. I know exactly how the puppet works. Why play the job if you’re just going to insult it. 3 light maneuvers? Clearly you haven’t played pup before because there absolutely no reason to have 3 up to get a cure out. You need 1 and 1 only. Maybe you’re just not as good of a pup as you thought.

It doesn’t cure you when it feels like it. It casts spell on a timer which you can slightly speed up with attachments. Figure it out and learn the conditions. Put on damage gauge and make sure you clear status aliments and the pup will cure you any time your HP gets in the yellow. Oddly enough, it works every time. /dnc has waltz that cures silence/blind/paralyze instantly (although paralyze can mess things up). If you use those before your puppet casts, it won’t cast silena/blinda/paralyna.

It may take some focus…but I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it eventually. I’ve farmed millions of gil AEing mobs on my solo pup. I assure you, it works.

Reraise atma is a waste in AE situations. So we don’t even need to talk about that. Your right…/dnc doesn’t have RR. So what exactly are you subbing then? Whm? Lord I hope not.

And you’re too cheap to get RR earrings? You’re farming gold boxes for f$%^ sake. Are you having trouble getting a few augmented weapons to NPC to cover the cost of an earring?

If you don’t want to go prepared to something that’s your business. But don’t sit there and try to tell me its bad idea and insult me when I do it on a daily basis successfully.

I wrote some scripts in a spreadsheet that parses all gear from my spellcast files based on the job that I select. It even has an option to exclude melee gears that you designate as such. It has made it much easier to manage my gear. I don't have to look at a piece and wonder if I REALLY need it for job X or not.

As for my pet peeve, it's that I have a few jobs leveled and I like to play different jobs once in awhile. For instance, a couple of times in the last few WotG BCs, I went on an 'off' job (one that I don't get to play very often). Every time we failed. But when I went and changed back to WHM, we won. Every time. I'd like to think that the other people are just lousy healers and that I'm much better at the job than them, but maybe I'm just really terrible at my 'off' jobs.

Going and doing things with LS though, I'm always WHM for anything important. I don't really mind too much because I LOVE WHM, but it is annoying to see some people who just got their WAR/MNK/DNC/whatever to 90 and taking that job to events simply because they don't have a healing job.

Inventory management is a pain and I like seein' how others deal with inventory.

I have my most played jobs on me at all times. THF, BLU, and DNC are either in my items (when on the job) or in my Mog Sack (so I can switch my job quick and gear up on the way). SAM sits in my MH safe cuz I'm hardly ever on it. It's in there with items waiting to either mule or put in Mog Storage along with furniture. Mog Storage is for armor I don't foresee myself using soon but can't be stored with a moogle and I don't want muled (or too lazy). My Mog Satchel has my usable items (pop items, tools, food, ranged, warp-items, keys, etc.) My Mog Locker has quest items (seals, organs, unupgraded armor, entry items) and anything misc. I haven't figured out where to put.

I still need to mule a bunch of stuff but I don't feel like "cleaning my room". I really should... once I figured out the storage moogles I got so much space.... now, I just need to take the time to mule stuffz.
