That's one of my peeves right there.

And all they really need to do to get people back into Campaign Battle is probably to just turn on skill-ups. Just don't do something that crowds 40+ people per battle such that enemy mobs die before I can even freaking target them. That was worse than nobody playing there.

People who can't tell the difference between XP/Kill and XP/Hour

What is better? Killing 3 mobs that give you 160 XP per kill per minute a minute or killing one mob that gives 315 XP that takes 2 minutes to kill?

Also what is better? Doing a page where the mobs only give 90 XP each but the page reward is 2k at cap and it can be done in five minutes, or doing a page that gives 200 XP per kill, gives 2k at cap but takes thirty minutes to finish?

Too many people don't get that, Firewind, for reasons I don't understand. I was in a group in Gusgen yesterday and some guy was there on his 90 MNK for reasons I don't quite get bitching that we were only getting 50 exp per mob. Mobs that we were killing at the rate of like, 3 per minute. The page required 6 and gave 1360 exp every time. And they were right next to the book. I got from 20-32 on that page in about an hour. He wanted to go to Valkurm.

WHY WOULD ANYONE GO TO VALKURM?

For that matter, why are people still getting exp in places like Qufim and Yuhtunga? There is zero reason. Hell, in the jungle you can't even fucking DO pages, because the first page requires Mandies and Lizards. EXP is merely a means to access the actual content in the game. It is not content, in and of itself. Why intentionally make it take longer?

You can do pages in Yhoator if you can grab the camp by the zone.

And Qufim parties are usually Page 3 (Pugils and Crabs) since there's a ton near the tower where there is a book.

This party I'm i nright now has gone from 22k xp/hour to 8k xp/hour because someone wanted to sync down to 22 and kill crabs by the lake and ignore all pages...

Well we were killing worms but apparently 3 worms a minute at 190 XP each doesn't cut it so we now have to kill 3 Crabs every 4.5 minutes for 300 XP

Yeah, Yhoator is a bit better because the book is right there and the mobs are actually killable at the level you'd be there. But the exp rewards for GoV as well as the prowess rewards and reduced number of kills per page make GoV the clear winner in my book nine times out of ten.

Also, I can't express how excited I am that Gusgen is such a viable exp spot for my MNK. The mobs in the Maze are a bit too spread out for my tastes.

THAT SAID, SE mentioned in response to a post on the official forums that they are looking into a way to allow you to repeat a page you just completed without having to return to the book. That will be fucking awesome if that's the case since you'll be able to move further away from the book and not hurt your exp rate.

Update: Finally convinced the group to do Page 3 in Quifim again. Hopefully this party should pick up soon

You guys must be hogging all the competent GoV parties because I've started parsing the exp in them and it's hardly any different from traditional parties. Even if the exp was higher, I still hate how they work. Roaming, wailing on EPs and seemingly an extra party worth of people to get in the way and engage the mob just as it falls over.

I cannot wait to get Dragoon into the 70s so I can stop having GoV parties being the only invites around. Seriously, fuck sloppy alliances, fuck them with a rusty wooden spoon.

Kparser and EXPWatch don't parse any kind of XP bonus. Pages, Chests and Dom Ops completions aren't parsed by it and are ignored. Fairly sure they also ignore the XP gained from Campaign and Bastion too.

@Murph: I actually grabbed about 4 people from Valkurm late last night and brought them over to Gusgen; they liked it better (had to explain it to them, but once they got into it, they got happy). Imagine that.

Edit: also, the other day I brought in some newer ls members to Gusgen for the first time (1 of them was a lvl 12, and was chaperoned there by a higher level ls member). Late last night when first getting to Gusgen, they had room; I asked, and all of a sudden, lvl 12 is too low a level according to some random 90? Dude, give me a break. I was there when YOU came in at 12, and watched you go above 20.


I was in my first crapfest alliance today in CN. There were too many problems to list; unfortunately, 3 other ls members were there too. I don't think it could've been much worse.

What Firewind said. Kparser and EXPWatch don't track bonus exp.

As for not liking how they work, obviously that's a personal thing, but I'll take wailing on mobs that die fast and easy over fighting mobs that have to be pulled and DON'T die quickly. With the way people gear themselves these days, EP is about all they can hit.

Also, if a GoV alliance or a party, or any EXP situation isn't going my way? I leave. It's not hard, people. If you're not happy, you can, thankfully get EXP so many other different ways. I swear, the amount of bitching people do over randoms that they are in no way forced to EXP with is mind-boggling. It's not 2004 where you HAD to party with whomever you could get in order to progress even a tiny amount.

Are you sure? Because killing mobs for 7 exp each should not result in numbers hovering around 9-11k per hour, which is what I was getting pretty consistently in Crawler's Nest on my last GoV outing.

The point is that it was fucking terrible so I left, and that all the GoV parties I've been to have been like that.

How about it got so bad that after you left, 5 more people went right behind.

It became somewhat organized, but it was still a clusterfuck. When Dathi left, I let Randgrid know and we both left. The only thing that kept me there was 2,000 exp per page. Of course, I started there at level 21 and finished around 32. If 99% of the people there were less stupid, it would have been great.
