If you didn't know, each consecutive Skillchain does more damage than the last. A single Lv2 SC does 60% of the WS's damage, but the second in a row does 75% and each successive one does 25% more, so constant Lv2 SC would overtake the power of getting a 100% Light every 2 WS very quickly. This is mostly only relevant to SAMs with Meikyo Shisui but most of them are too lazy to give a fuck and just do 2 WS + Light/Dark repeatedly. 2 SAMs joining their Meikyo Shisui would be utter rape. It's one of my oldest peeves because it really is a hell of a lot stronger but it takes a lot of work to convince people about it.

This is the first time I've seen a situation where you can skillchain infinitely against a mob with sufficiently high HP that it would help and sufficiently low offense that you'd stick around, so to see the guy spamming the same WS over and over again for an average of 50% skillchain damage makes me hurt

And yes Chant du Cygne is lulz. It's a good thing I quit before it came out because the few times I used Teamspeak, my LS started calling me Zorro to tease me for my latin accent. The best part? One of the dudes that was teasing me was Australian. It was all in good fun of course.

I never knew that. Now I want to find a SAM to try that 2hr tick with, lol. I was unable to view the video cuz I'm at work... but I really hope I remember to check it out when I get home.

It's outdated but I made an analysis back in the pre-Abyssea days. You can read it here for an idea of how much better it is to actually chain: http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/sam...-analysis.html

As for skillchain damage, it goes up like this:

(Shamelessly cropped from FFXIClopedia but then again I'm the one that wrote that in the first place.)

I don't know if the damage ever stops going up. Someone with an Ochain is probably the only person in a position to find out.

If anyone cares, I made a table comparing Chant du Cygne -> Chant du Cygne (Light) vs Savage -> CDC -> Atonement -> Swift -> Savage assuming an average CDC damage of 2.5k (based on the second video), that Swift Blade does 40% of of a Chant du Cygne, Savage does 20%, and Atonement is always 700 so 28%. After 14 WS the long chain catches up, on the 18th it beats CDC spam. I'm using CDC's damage as a unit of measure, the Damage column has the damage for that WS+SC and the Cumulative damage shows total damage. I was pretty conservative when estimating Swift and Savage Blade's damage though; I doubt Chant du Cygne does more than double Swift Blade's damage.

            Boring stuff

Posting in the original thread too to see if the OP wants to give it a shot.

I just had the "Haste is Important vs Fulltime PDT gear" discussion with a Paladin.

I swear it made me want to put his head through a wall. He even gave me the whole "I have X number of jobs leveled and fully merited so I know what I'm talking about" bullshit.

Seriously wanted to strangle this kid.

Abyssea leeches who just go afk and/or leave their bot lotting stuff.

If you are going to leech at least open coffers and use the job you are leveling for something, whatever it is you can do.

Abyssea seal quests that not only don't drop the seals you want, but the seals for a piece you've already upgraded instead of the ones you want.

                        This.

Doing Dominion yesterday... I got x1 Raider's Seal: Hands, x2 Iga Seal: Body and x1 Iga Seal: hands along with a lot of assorted other garbage seals like PUP and DRG that I never intend to play.

Why can't I get Caller's from Dominion.... ever? Or Navarch's?

Stupid Dominion guy... friggen hates me. Jerk.
