It's only half true. I don't have a dart board

I'm probably going to end up maxing Slow II because dammit I love Slow. After that I'll probably resort to a dart board and copious amounts of alcohol to decide.
Or just max that Bio III as well.

I don't do enough Poison/Bio kiting for that to make much sense.

Meh, maybe i should just drop one point into all of 'em and see which ones work and which are rubbish.

Because of Abyssea and Saboteur, my LS strongly encouraged (read: guilted) me into leveling Paralyze II, even though, prior to Abyssea, it was considered kind of useless.

I'm going to cap Slow II and Bio III if I ever start playing again.

Was it worth it or does Ice Spikes still put it to shame?

It's worth it if you're don't intend to get hit of course. But it's really only good if you can apply Saboteur to it.

Well the benefit of both Paralyze and Paralyze II over Ice Spikes are that you don't have to get hit for there to be a chance for it to take effect. Each extra merit point into it also increases its 'accuracy' which should help it to land on harder mobs.

If you do a lot of NM camping, both Dia III and Paralyze II have their uses.

Is it potent enough that it makes more sense to Saboteur on Paralyze II than on Slow II?

On the long run not really, on fast zergs Sabo-Para is pretty nice.

Well, you have the opportunity to paralyze spells which, in many cases, might actually outweigh the benefits of slowing down the mob's swing rate.

What is the chance of paralyzing proccing though?

It may be better to have the mob slowed in a long fight, rather than paralyzed, which may not even proc at all.

Only if you had all the facts (or good approximations of them.) The facts being the exact potency of Slow, the probability distribution of Paralyze II proc rates, the average number of swings the mob does per attack round, the average damage per swing, and frequency of spell casting, the frequency with which the mob casts a spell that actually matters, and the average damage per spell.

Of course if the mob doesn't cast spells you can throw out half that shit.
It may be better to have the mob slowed in a long fight, rather than paralyzed, which may not even proc at all.
You could equally argue that if the fight is slow enough that something as good as Paralyze II won't proc, you might not see significant benefits from Slow II either.

Extreme example: mob swings every 4 seconds, 6 with Slow II. End the fight in 6 seconds, you've gained nothing. Would've hit once in both cases.

But it's all moot if you're fighting repetitively. While one mob may not proc, another will. It all evens out.
