tl;dr: "Come let me leech off of you out of the goodness of your heart! I can't even be arsed to get people in my own LS to start my leech party before shouting it!"
And yes, people are joining it. Barnum is as right as ever.
The frequency of shitty pickup parties seems to have skyrocketed since I started venturing into Abyssea. There is something seriously wrong when a terribad Dunes party is yielding more exp than some of the Abyssea parties I've been to.
Bonus Peeve: No one wants to bother setting up a main /assist so all the mobs inevitably wake up and maul people.

Eh, I never set up a main /assist cause it can change suddenly at times. I usually just target the same mob that everyone else happens to be attacking lol.

Except that has proven to never ever work in practice. There needs to be someone in charge of picking the mob or the alliance will without fail decide to wake up all of the mobs instead of tearing them down one at a time.

I've never ran into that problem. Yea, I've seen one or two people run after another mob that's asleep, or maybe even break off of the current one, and attack ones by them selves, but I always waited utill everyone was situated and was attacking the same one.

This is the reason worm parties work so well... they can't move around, so you don't need a sleeper or an assist. If they start getting pissy, it's easy to move out of spell range.
But when you do need a sleeper, and someone wakes up the wrong mob, guess who it goes for when it wakes up? Yeah, SE only nerfed emnity from the single-target sleep spells, and not even all of those. At least now, with good atma, many of those mobs can be at least halfway soloed by a level 90. I still can't see why someone would want to do this for a random /anon stranger, though. I did it once for a Bluffalo party because half the group was in the LS and I just wanted to keel something for skill-ups.
The special thing about a Dominion party is that half the party can be leeches, letting the other half (or less) to do all the work. Just stand next to the Dominion Sargeant (usually idling right up to it so that when I walk up from elsewhere it's a pain to target) and select a new page every fifth mob, at least for mobs that are right there, like the Bluffalo.
Sometimes in the past you would see a 2boxer leave one of his characters by the OP at Cape Teriggan, but that was with the old once-per-hour FoV. With Dominion (and the new FoV), you can spam the pages endlessly, and the Abyssea exp system doesn't reduce your exp much if any from being in a full alliance.
My point was that this manthra who had probably just dinged 30 on a job was starting one all for himself. The only thing he had to offer anyone else was the shouting for a full alliance. Back in the days of astral burns, the leeches at least paid the pullers, unless they were 2boxing the puller too. Well, no, maybe he was going to key some boxes... and probably keep the Aug/Ex/KI treasure for himself.

The CoP mission The Road Forks. This has got to be the worst quest out there for me personally. I am terrible with navigation and that maze trumped me pretty hard even with a map.
Obnoxiously difficult battles: not a problem
Nasty maze: stuck forever
not sure if you finished...but i found this a long time ago that helped me out
i agree though...that climb was a bitch
The Guide to the Top!
At no time should you drop down without being told to do so. There is one route and one route only. Please do not re-distribute this information elsewhere without first consulting me.
1. Make your way to (K-9) of Attohwa Chasm; the easternmost side of the mountain. (View Map)
2. You'll come to a point where there will be a ramp on either side of you, if you are facing the mountain. Go left heading south.
3. After a few steps, you'll reach a fork. Go right heading up and north.
4. After a few steps, you'll reach another fork. Go left heading up and south.
5. After a few steps, you'll reach another fork. Go right heading up and north.
6. After a few steps, you'll reach another fork. Continue straight and north.
7. You will soon reach a spout. Wait for it to go down and continue north.
8. Walking north, pass over a bone bridge and continue heading northwards.
9. You will reach another spout. However, this spout will not go down. Very slowly and carefully drop off the side to the east.
10. After a few steps, you'll reach a small cliff. Drop down, still heading north.
11. At the top of the ramp you're on, you'll reach a fork. Continue heading north.
12. You will reach another spout that will not go down. Slowly and carefully drop off the side to the east.
13. Continue heading north as it wraps around the mountain.
14. You'll soon reach a large bone structure heading north and upwards. The platform leading to it is rather difficult to get on.
15. At the top of the bone structure, you'll reach a fork. Continue heading north and west, taking the right forks.
16. You will soon see another small cliff. Make your way as far west as possible and carefully drop down. It may be helpful to walk up the mountain a bit before dropping.
17. With a rock to your back; not front, continue heading west.
18. You'll soon reach another spout. Wait for this to go down and continue west.
19. You'll reach another small cliff. Slowly and carefully drop down at the very edge.
20. With a rock to your back; not front, continue heading west over a windy path.
21. After passing over another bone structure, you'll come to another spout that will not go down.
22. Slowly fall down to west to the platform below.
23. Very carefully, continue south, winding around the bottom of the mountain. Be very careful not to fall to the ground.
24. You will come to another small bone structure with a fork; the right continuing south and the left going upwards and north. Go left.
25. After a few steps going up and north, you'll come to another fork. Go right.
26. Follow this path for a few steps and you'll come to another fork. Go left and upwards again.
27. At the top of this side, you'll hit another fork; a spout to your left and another path to your right. Go left toward the spout and wait for it to go down.
28. Continue north, passing over two large bone structures.
29. Ignore all forks and stay to the right at all times until told to change.
30. You will soon reach another bone structure that will come to an end. Slow fall off the end of the bone structure to the platform below.
31. With a rock behind you, follow this path for a few steps.
32. You'll then reach a spout. Wait for it to go down and continue along the path.
33. Follow this path and stay to the right until you are to the top of the mountain.
