Couple pet peeves this weekend…

-Enemies with ‘alliance draw-in’. Had the mini orobron NM at 1% (yes 1%) when a party member in a different area accidently aggroed the spider by conflux 00. And it was because some idiot pulled it to a different spot (then probably died). My buddy turned the corner in a normally safe area and WHAM. Not a huge loss since the fish is easy…just sucks to lose it at 1%.

-Other people/parties who don’t have the common courtesy to answer you back. I like to consider myself a fair guy. If I run up to a ??? and see a party fighting, I’ll ask if they plan on staying a while. If they answer “yes doing many pops” or something of that nature, I’m more than happy to leave and come back another time. I realize my kill speed is slower then most and I hate holding up a nice group of people. But when party doesn’t reply back and blatantly ignores my multiple /says and /tells…well then I’m going to be a dick right back and pop that NM and take my sweet ass time. Takes you 3 minutes to kill a NM?? Well now you have to wait 25 minutes for me to kill it. Seems like once I pop it, their keyboards start to work again.

-The Ironclad in Vunk whom I’m assuming is true sight/sound. I was soloing the NM pugil and accidentally got hate from my pet and I had to kite him around. Not sure if he has a hate reset move but after every couple hits the pugil would come after me. So I was slowly inching my way south. The whole time I had 2 jackass smns following me. And as stated in my previous pet peeve, asked them multiple times if they wanted the seals because I just wanted the KI. But they didn’t answer. Just kept following. I finally get to the ironclad area and the pugil is around 10%. I’m forced to run by him and agro. Just as I deaggroed him, my pet died and the 2 smns took my NM that was at about 2%. They could have teamed up and saved a shitload of time even if they were farming for the KI but nooooooo. So in retaliation, I claimed the next 2 pugil pops over them and took my sweet time killing it. I got the KI and some seals, they got to sit and watch me for ~60 minutes. I was gonna go destroy the Ironclad as well but…didn’t drop anything I wanted nor did I want to waste the time…but I still hate him.

I want an outpostable outpost in Sky. I know I can change my title & go to a crag & get straight there -- but it would be ever-so-much easier to just go to the OP guy in town & be transported directly to sky. OP'ing to Zi'Tah & running is easy, but time-consuming.

I want an outpostable outpost in Sky. I know I can change my title & go to a crag & get straight there -- but it would be ever-so-much easier to just go to the OP guy in town & be transported directly to sky. OP'ing to Zi'Tah & running is easy, but time-consuming.

Since when do you need to change your title to use a crag to get to Sky? You only need the title once to flag the quest on the green teleporter. Then you just drop the chip in the mechanism(s), no more messing with titles.

Of course you still need to sub WHM or at least not go solo to get to the crag, or run from Buburimu to Mea.

Still, it would be nice to have an actual OP there. And Movalpolos, too, while they're at it. Just. Because.

Peeve: Friends who tell you to wait until tomorrow to do a specific mission... even though you have everyone ready right here and now. So you wait... because it's your friend... only to log on the following day at the time they requested and have them not show up. This happened to me today. I could have finished ToAU Mission 35 yesterday... I had the people, I had the time... but my buddy I've been doing the missions with told me to wait for him until today. Does he show up? No... he just marks in the LS Message that he's too tired to play today and won't be around for the mission.

RAWR!!!!! I'm so mad at him!!!!!!

Of course you still need to sub WHM or at least not go solo to get to the crag, or run from Buburimu to Mea.

Depending on server prices I'd just grab a ring of Teleport - Dem and Holla. Mea on Fenrir, like the scroll, always was the most ridiculously expensive for some reason.

People not waiting for me to renew my buffs after zoning.

It's really annoying to have everyone run ahead into a dungeon or wherever without me because I stop to take the time to put all my defenses in place so I'm ready in case we draw aggro and have to fight something. Yes I realize as a RDM there's a lot of them, but you know what? That's just the nature of the beast and you people who don't need any buffs to function need to sit your ass down and wait before charging ahead to get yourself devoured without me.

This isn't one or two isolated cases either. It's every fucking time I'm in a party unless it's a party consisting entirely of other Red Mages. It drives me up the wall how impatient everyone is.

That used to drive me nuts in Nyzul. If I buffed in the lobby, people would bitch because their raiding of the chest got interrupted, but if I waited till we ported up, half the party wouldn't get my Shellra V. Quit wasting my fucking MP.

It was doubly annoying in zones where you get a level cap imposed upon you (less of a problem now I'm guessing) as I'd have to reapply Reraise in addition to my buffs.

I don’t disagree. Whoever trades first gets the NM.

I just ask parties because I know it takes me much longer to kill than it would them. And some times when I’m courtesy, people actually stay around and join my fight and speed up my kill (rare…but happens).

All I ask is for some sort of response. It’s annoying asking over and over while all the party does is /check you. Yeah, I’m a solo Bst with a leech pet…but I’m fucking awesome and I can solo that NM, it jus takes me longer. So be respectful to me if I’m being respectful to you FIRST!

Insert SCH pet peeve about people waiting like good little soldiers for BRD songs but running in 5 different directions for SCH buffs. Wasted my MP and a stratagem charge. People act like they're gonna catch an STD if they stay all bunched up together after zoning into a floor.

Kill all (floor was FILLED with tough NMs)
Lamps (order)
Kill family (Frogs)
Don’t know what the last floor was…timed out.

Tried four times, still can't beat him. I have done exactly what has been suggested in videos and tutorials. Somehow he always does something sneaky and unexpected.

This last time, I was getting off my second astral flow (for what would have been a win) as his avatar wakes up from across the battlefield and Astral Flows me as well. I didn't even see Maat use astral flow. WTF? I know I should be able to beat him, and had I been a micro second faster, I might have. Its just incredibly frustrating... I will not go into Abyssea until I beat him.

On the other hand, I'm sure that Aby guy has like a million traverser stones ready for me >->

Best advice I can give you is this...

1. It says in your sig that you're lvl 68... try and get to lvl 70 first.

2. Use Fenrir... and fight Maat on Darksday.

3. Bring a yag Drink and 2 ethers.

4. When you enter the battle, summon your light spirit and wait until it casts Protect 4 and Shell 4 on you... then release.

5. Have Garuda cast Aerial Armor.

6. Have Titan Cast Earthen Ward.

7. Rest to full.

8. Once rested, summon Fenrir, use your yag drink and /assault Maat. Then as soon as the timer is up, /assult Maat's avatar and then after he attacks it once and takes hate off you... use Ecliptic bite on Maat.

9. Run to the entrance and wait for Fenrir to die.

10. Resummon and allow Fenrir to attack whichever one he has aggro on. (make sure he and his avatar are CLOSE together... run between them if you have to)

11. Pop Astral Flow and use it on Maat. This should take hate off of you and put them both on Fenrir again.

12. Run to the opposite side of the battle field again and pop an ether.

13. When Fenrir dies, resummon and make sure both Maat and his avatar are close enough to get them both in AF again.

If this second AF and the Ecliptic Bite didn't finish Maat off, then the remaining melee that Fenrir does SHOULD. If not, rinse and repeat Steps 12 and 13.

I'll admit, SMN Maat is unfair. If you're unlucky enough to be close when he pops his own AF, you're done... it's over... farm a new Testimonial. If you're out of range, you should be fine. This is the strategy I used. I died the first time to AF... but the second time.... I PWND his ass hard.

The reason I choose Fenrir is because he hits the hardest with his AF at that level... and with matching day... it's not even a challenge. If you don't have Fenrir yet, do the fight with the appropriate avatar for the current day you go in... just make sure the day isnt going to change once you're inside the fight.

Also... it seems that the Avatar Maat chooses is randomly decided. I only ever went in on Darksday... but the first time it was Titan and the second time it was Ramuh. He may use the Avatar that coresponds to the currentm day, but I'm not sure. If he uses Carby... you're lucky... that fight will be easy.

Another strategy that I've heard people use is to check what Avatar he has out as soon as you enter and simply choose the opposing elemental avatar. This will reduce the damage your avatar takes and increase the damage it dishes out.

Thank you! I will definitely try that! And I do love Fenrir.

I have Fenrir, missing light spirit though. But LS member is going to help me farm it, and since that and the test are both in Temple of Ugg, then its shouldn't be too difficult. So go in at 70? Will do. I was at 69 before getting testimonies, but farming those testimonies alone was kinda brutal, luckily my ls stepped in to help.

I did always use the avatar on its appropriate day. Last time was Shiva on Ice day, but that stupid Titan... grr... Anyway, thanks again for the advice!
