So many healer are hyper sensitive about this, it's annoying. In one Abyssea party, I had asked for some status fix because it was late in coming. Next time I was hit, instead of waiting, I just asked fast thinking it'd be helpful to point out what I needed--and this healer nearly bite my head off, and threatened to withhold status fixes if I do it again.

If your healer was even half competent then no, you were wrong here. Decent healers realize you got hit by a status effect, we just might, you know, be casting something else. If I play RDM, chances are good I'm either throwing up a Dia or throwing around Refresh or Haste or on the rare occasion taking a knee for 1-2 tics and needed to wait for the getting up animation to finish. I've been known to miss a status cure or 2 myself if shit hit the fan for a second and get it off them later, but if someone started asking for a status cure the second the TP move went off then I'd let them stick with it and/or die.

What Clever said. Unless your healer wants you calling status effects, screaming it the second it hits is just rude. Any mage that doesn't have their head stuck up their ass has chat filters set to catch that stuff. Screaming once it becomes clear that they missed a status ailment that's from a TP move that doesn't show up in the chat log is another matter.

Just to be clear, the reason you'll get flak for that is because you're needlessly adding clutter to an already hectic chatlog and making the whole process harder, not easier. Shut your pleb mouth and stop clogging our workspace if you want the healy goodness.

By "late in coming", I meant I was left petrified for over half a minute, and didn't get Stona until I asked twice, IIRC. (And reasonably sure I did wait 10+ seconds in between asking; it'd be pretty unlike me to spam.) Think that wasn't the first time with slow Stona, either.

I figured he had trouble seeing the petrification move, so put a "Stona please" in party the next time when I was petrified without waiting 30 seconds. Instead of say "Yeah, saw that", he responded with a threat. I don't think what I said was terribly rude? It's not like I typed "YOU IDIOT DO YOU NOT HAVE STONA?!"

Basically, started asking for Stona (politely, with a 'please') sooner because the Stona's before were pretty slow/inconsistent.

Odd enough, Stona came a lot faster after that exchange. *shrug* Guess asking as the right thing to do--got him to pay attention.

And, as I've said, I play healer as well; just don't see what's the big deal with people asking for status fixes when it's not done in a rude manner. Most people would stop asking if you're fast with -na, too--it's a pain to keep asking, and they wouldn't keep it up if they didn't need to.

Agreed. Context is extremely important. Politeness definitely helps, at least with me. I'm not Wonder-Mage. I know I miss things sometimes, especially if they don't show up in the chat log. I'm on-the-ball enough though to find out (even if only during the party) what move is causing unlogged status effects -- especially if there's a move that causes multiple effects. I know that something Bakka does both paralyzes (shows up in log) and silences (does not show up in log) -- so now I know that when I see the green AOE effect I need to Silena the PLDs withaquickness.

Whenever I'm healer for a pickup group, after the first round of "OMG ___NA ME NOW" comments, I tell people politely that I will get to them as quickly as I can & that they don't need to say anything unless I've clearly missed something. It usually works well -- especially when they realize that I really honestly DO know what I'm doing.

I will happily let an obnoxious jerk in a pickup group suffer/die as an example to others if need be.

I've never gotten rude about requesting someone to -na me cuz I realize they are typically doing a lot more than is evident to me. Also, experience is called experience for a reason. Hopefully after a DD gets eaten quickly while they are petrified and w/o shadows the healer will learn something from the experience. Same goes for an annoying ever-needy DD. I never ask for Haste but I see others do, sometimes a lot... unless it's an event mob that needz-to-go-downz I consider haste to be a delightful gift and not a necessity.

On the other hand... I was asked by several players in the party to SATA a WHM in a E. Ron bird party cuz they weren't paying very much attention (if any) and were relying on the DNC to mainheal while they leeched in gimpt gears.

God... I miss party'n with THF... SATA'd a bard on accident cuz they couldn't get it in their heads about mob/party placement... that happened twice before they got it ... and even then they came close several more times of eating a big o' plate o' hate.

Sometimes, in the heat of things or over a long period of time it gets easy to miss things. However, I'm the one with Reraise and Raise, so one way or another that status effect will no longer be a problem.

If the WHM has 600+ MP, there's zero reason not to Haste people. (Last time I asked for Haste in Abyssea exp alliance, the WHM constantly had 800+ MP--and was melee'ing.) On SAM, I don't ask for Haste when I see the WHM (or RDM) has less than 300 MP.

On PLD, if I'm tank or main /assist, I'm demanding Haste, MP or no MP. lol.

I agree that context is important but even at that, its annoying if more than one person is spamming "STONA!". If I go into an area where there are status effects and parties can be very busy, I'll explain to the pt that having one person post a reminder is enough and assign someone or ask for a volunteer.

I see the price of Sole Sushi is holding steady. If you want, you can bet on the glut of Tarutaru rice is only temporary, and start hording the Rice and/or the Grain Seeds.

Could lose a lot of gil if that bet is wrong, of course, but that's the nature of the commodities market.
