Sorry, but that Just made me laugh. Wonder if the gravity resist will do anything about the decreased movement speed.
That's not how resist traits work. And considering the decreased movement speed doesn't automatically put a gravity icon (thus, the status effect) over your head, it's not going to be affected in any way by Resist Gravity. At best, they'll be able to run slowly (instead of walk slowly) back to the Quadav NMs after that Wrath of Ghu'da move they like to spam in Dynamis once every 100 times it happens. x.x

theres an oxymoron i havent heard yet...rust and wood
anyways i agree i hate lazy DD's....especially now in abyssea where they "afk brb" for 45min and mooch xp and then when they get back..."oh emergancy came up thanks for pt g2g bye!" -.-
It's not even players being lazy that bothers me. It's that the role itself requires practically nothing of the player, whereas mages basically have to be frantically making sure the entire fabric of the universe isn't unraveling while juggling eight different hats.

Different strokes for different folks, mgm. I chose DD cuz I like to hit things and I don't like to stress out about a video game/entertainment. If you see my signature you can tell.. I'm DD all the way. F__k casting... that sh!tz stressful. Requires a ton of work ... not only must you be geared and skilled you have to be fully learned in spells and aspects of the world memorized. In addition to those innate struggles that every wizard throughout the histroy or the fantasy genre has gone through, SE's game design makes certain ez xp for DD's ridiculously crappy for mage-jobs (campaign, lolibri, etc )...
But this is the nature of the beast. With greater power comes greater responsiblity. I can't one-hit a DC or a T but you can blow the holy living hell out of a slime, sleep an entire train of angry mobs, and many other things I'll never have the pleasure of doing. I pick up stick and I slash and poke by choice.
DNC is the closest thing I have to a non lazy DD and when I'm on that I work my ass off doing everything I know about that job to enfeeble, heal, DD, tank, and look damn good whilst doing it all; but the community is so damn fickled and retarded about that particular job everyone would rather me come with my stick to poke an object. It seriously pisses me off to see DNC's using samba and calling it a day. ImHo, DNC has such a bad standing cuz there is soooooOOOOOOoooo many bad ones out there.
I have no desire to get into casting... none what-so-ever. It already takes a great deal of my patience to enjoy this game that basically abuses it's playerbase at every f'n turn.
That said. You made your bed and now have to lie in it... thanks for the fish.

You know, I'd actually say Dancer is a mage job even if it doesn't have that whole MP thing going on. From what I've heard from you about it on these boards and from what I've seen in game it's every bit as busy as a more traditional mage.
The appeal of being able to relax while playing is totally understandable, I guess I'm a tad jealous that the folks with pointed sticks get to kick back and take it easy while I'm slowly driving myself insane in the back-line. Then again it's as you said, I get to do all sorts of rad stuff in exchange for having to be so damn busy so I guess it's a fairly even trade off.
I really need to just start leveling Dragoon so I can zone out on those off nights so I don't burn out on Red Mage.

oh i know lol im 80rdm so i know exactly what ya talking about. the worst instance of that happening to me was a merit party shortly after i got 75. setup= rdm, cor, drk, drk, sam,sam all subbed war....as everyone knows drks are by nature love spamming ws + beserk....so needless to say they died quite i few times. any mage knows thats theres nothing worse than a drk/war who loves to spam ws and then bitch when they also get to close to dieing or die and blame the mage....oh and dont forget the new trend the ALL DD's love to do when they are in red.....gear swap. that has to be the biggest thing that pisses me off...the gear swap in red -> death -> bitch -> moan -> bitch -> rinse and repeat.

everyone choses what job that the like the best. i respect that and im glad they do b/c ppl that play jobs they dont like suck at them and that makes it even worse. Thank you for at least reqignizing that mage job is hard...most DD's that are only DD's dont realize that and think that if they die its the mages fualt for being lazy. Thank you.

Nah, it's still the players' fault.
For example, the typical "best setup" Lv.75+ exp party:
Same main jobs, but the NA players like their setup biased toward firepower at the expensive of damage mitigation, and concentrate all recovery duty onto one person. The JP players like their DDs to be busier playing blink tank, and further relieve their main healer with a backup healer using COR/WHM.
Also, recall that in the old days, parties usually had RDM and WHM both, sharing the back lines duties. While the back line mage have always been busier, they only became super busy when the players demanded each to shoulder the load of the entire party.
* * *
In Dynamis, I find that I'm just as attentive on SAM/NIN as RDM/BLM overall.
RDM: Super busy and hyper vigilant when a pull comes in, then slowly dial down the intensity as the melees thin the crowd.
SAM: Constantly trying to get in front of the monster as people turn it ever which way but facing me. Watch the timers (esp. Meditate) like a hawk, and try to remember which mobs I should not WS early. Oh, and play blink tank after every WS, usually.
SAM never get as bad as RDM at its worst, but as long as there's a monster alive, I can't let my guard down. In contrast, RDM is really easy when we're down to three critters or fewer, but it's hellish when a big pull comes in.
