as the NPCs don't generate Enmity like we do
Oh, they do. It's just that most of them, except the generals, suck at it. But that's what happens when you got NIN, BLM, or RNG AI's that stand back and do their stuff (but not far back enough to avoid AoE).

Funny thing, yesterday I slept a mob while I was fighting another one. One of them Windurst BLM NPCs comes by and casts Frost on it.

Keep in mind, not everyone will be able to see corpses strewn about the ground. Even after a battle I wouldn't be able to see most dead people, and I'd get barraged with angry tells from people for not raising when I didn't even know they were there. I got sick of it and stopped doing Campaign (well, that was one of the reasons) but sometimes, you don't even realize there are dead people who haven't been/aren't getting raised.

True... however there still are the people out there that just wish to be dix. Spoils have helped this somewhat. I see people /sh more often for the dedz to /t them their plight.

Though... only one specific instance... I had a PLD teabag me because he couldn't deal with the fact I could so easily pull hate off his worthless ass that kept trying to hide mobs out in BFE. Ronfaure (s). I /t'd him, "Play Halo too much?" or something to that effect. Got a raise from one of the others who were tracking down the mobs he wanted all to himself tho.

But you don't need to pull them a mile away from the OP, and not allow others to attack it. A Pld slowly killing a mob after all the mobs have been killed, and waiting/trying to find the pld slowly killing it to finish off the mob for the spoils/exp.

So today folks in Meriph_S were getting tired of waiting for the mobs to arrive and waiting partway down the line. Of course there weren't enough people to keep them all from arriving, but we just didn't want to wait. So There comes Vaa Oozu along the ditch (the road) and his little pets behind him. I get a little too close to the edge and WHAMWHAMWHAM it goes Wild Rage and I'm eating dirt. Then it just keeps on going. I couldn't help but break down laughing after that.

              5. 90% of the time, 1st mob to the fort is the Mega Boss.... Let him do his bussiness until the entire zone is ready to kill him. Please.
This is the #1 {/facepalm} thing to do in a CB. Some noob engages the first mob that arrives, which is the boss. Not only does this piss the boss off (he starts face-raping everyone around instead of politely bashing the fort), but his buddies arrive about 15 seconds later to join in the fun.

Note what I bolded, folks. When the battle is over it won't hurt to rest up to 150MP and raise someone. So you're RDM or /WHM and will have a recast timer after you raise someone; just at least try to look around and raise one person, kthx? If there's still a WHM around then you can go.

Yeah it sucks when you can't see the dead people thanks to the Whitegate Effect, but that is more of a problem during the battle, rather than after it. It really pisses me off sometimes who the game will choose who to not show in Besieged. Sometimes I can turn the camera and someone will fade in and out of view, and of course the generals are almost always not shown when in the middle of a dogpile of mobs. Just remember that anyone in your party, and anyone you currently have targeted will not disappear.

Oh, and the best way to get back at the kiting pricks? Level you some RNG and sub it. BST works too, but you get less range at the same level.

Well, I do that anyway, but I'm a bit annoyed at being told I have to do it.

If you don't like not getting raise, bring Reraise items. Simple.

I don't see DDs stop hitting so I can get more exp on RDM or PLD, so why is it incumbent upon me (or others, like WHM or DRG/WHM or whatver) to baby the people who didn't have RR up? What exactly do these people too cheap/lazy to get RR items do to help me get exp/AN that I would have any semblance of an obligation toward them?

                The answer? NOTHING.

I always run around to look for people to raise after battle if I'm not feeling tired. That's a gift--DDs have no right to demand it of me, when all they do is to lower my exp.

                  The answer? Easy campaign XP.
Fixed. Of course it's more fun when you're WHM and have three raises such that your recast on the first is almost up by the time you use the third. You just yo-yoed by getting up next to that AoE-spamming NM? Tsk, tsk. Here, try again. Oh my, you seem to have done it again...

(If cha-ching is the sound of getting money, and ding is the sound of getting a level, what is the sound of getting XP?)

Oh, and it seems I wasn't completely right. Campaign is back to normal... except during JP prime. 100 in a glacier battle yesterday morning. I gave up at JP midnight (had a quest to work on), so I wonder how many of them left to go MMM.

But I had my most awesome battle ever yesterday afternoon, 2-3 hours in glacier, and I think every enemy group possible showed up to it. I turned in tags three times, got about 7k xp from it, dinged 68 along the way (yay Cobra gear), and even set someone straight that no, I don't care if you have +movement pants, you're not going to lose aggro on that NM by running away, you're just going to MPK when he finally smacks you down.

If you think Raising was easy campaign XP then you must not have looked at a table of how much xp you get per raise lately. You get to do about ... 8 raises (or so) with your full MP pool then you have to sit ... during which time you're getting nothing.

Raising after the battle was never an issue for me, if i could see the corpses with all of the battle lag. But during? Sure, I'll spare a few, but for the MP cost vs. reward, raising is a bullshit way of getting xp in campaign.

And on a side note, what changed? It used to be I could hit CTRL + I on this forum to italicize my text, and now it opens up some stupid bookmarks tab on the left of my screen ... and it doesn't do that on any other forum. It's very annoying to have to use these [ ] bad boys all the time.

Ya we do, cuz otherwise DD's can just come and take out our mob. DD's will go after a mob that is already being tanked instead of pulling a mob that has no target at the time. Unless you're gonna invite me to a merit pt, dont tell ME what to do in Campaign (and I'm not aiming that at you specifically Takelli). If I want to drag a mob out to the middle of nowhere and solo it to get a good chunk of exp in campaign I will, just like a mage doesnt have to cure or raise you in campaign.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate and say...

Its your fault that you decided to play as pld, but not your fault that the players don't want to merrit with a pld. Its your fault for not having friends that will merrit with a pld. I'd rather merrit with a pld than the usual set up, because they need merrits too, probably more than the DDs do anyways. DDs cant tank on a Campain mob solo with out some sort of help as well. Besdies, if you tank the mob to death, once that one is dead, you can go and pull another mob from the clusterfuck of mobs then tank that one to death again.

Is there really a decrease in EXp when you do that. You go out and 2 DDs come along and kill the mob with you. Once that mob is dead, you pull another from the clusterfuck and tank it to death and more DDs come along, and you just repeat. Will you get much less exp from doing so?

                        • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

It's usually more than 2 DDs that will run out and grab a mob you're soloing. CK and I used to (when I actually played Campaign on my own and didn't make him use my character as a cure whore) pull a mob off for the two of us, and he could tank it on THF as long as just the two of us were spanking it and giving it TP, but as soon as some other tards came up and started smacking the mob we'd get assraped, first him from having the most hate, then me.

Because of the way hate works in XI, if you pull a mob off and a bunch of other tards start coming up after more than a few minutes of you soloing it, you're gonna die quickly ... and that kills your XP. Not that you don't get any for taking damage, of course, but dying actually causes you to lose some and then you have to wait 5 minutes for weakness to wear, all while these other DDs are still spanking away at mobs that other people started to tank first, with no real fear of dying.

See why I hate campaign? There was no good way to actually get xp except through soloing/tanking your own mob on some jobs, but other jobs would just not let people do it and hurt someone else's xp in order to get their own. And people wonder why I preferred leveling in XP parties.

How would you die fast if there are others attacking the mob as well? Sure its getting more Tp, but its going to die even quicker though.

I do prefer to get exp from parties than campaign as well. The only thing I can tank on my Sam/Dnc are yagudos, as they are weak hitters. Anything else just rapes my ass, hard. I can't even take a few AoEs from the boesses.

They need to change the exp rate given in campaign as well. Dancers and plds that solo tank mobs get the most of the exp when they are solo killing.

When you have a ton of people hitting one mob, it literally spams TP moves. You can't tank that shit, even if you have ten dedicated mages on you. And a lot of those mobs have a ton of HP. I've seen it happen dozens of times. He and I would grab a mob, get it to about 50% (after a good period of time) then a dozen (or more) people would come up, it would start spamming the TP moves, and we'd both be dead well before the mob was.

Tak, you played long enough, but unfortunately only played a DD (SAM 2nd most mindless job next to MNK) so you really wouldnt know what it's like. I have friends yes, but even I'M not that much of a jerkoff that I will want to waste their time meriting with a PLD when I could be on BLU, SAM, WAR and helping kill A LOT faster. Again, I go to campaign to play how I want, you or anyone else dont like it? TOUGH SHIT!

Like Aks said, once someone who's been tanking a mob long enough gets a bunch of stupid melees whacking away, the mob starts spamming TP moves so much (quadavs and yagudo being the worst) that you cant do shit to be honest. And can you count on anyone to help you out? Nah, mages are also doing their own thing, and so are the melees, so if you die cuz of them, youre outta luck.
