Biggest peeve in FFXI has always been NM's. My newest one specifically is Picolaton.

Pop times are 90 mins - 6+ hrs
Placeholder hangs out near D-11, E-11 but can wander a bit by wander they mean can go about 1 1/2 squares outside of that area.
Pops in the E-8, F-8, and G-8 areas

Now for those not too familiar with the map, the placeholder is in the far SW of the map near the "hidden" area. The NM pops just SW of Revelation Rock. So the only way to hunt PH and ensure a decent possibilty of claim is to have two people minimum. But when you throw in how often it pops and how wide it's pop time can be this becomes a very annoying task.

I switched to San d'Oria a couple of weeks before the merge because they took Gustaberg due to the Astral Burns. Nobody has had Fauregandi since then, though I notice that right now there is finally some control starting to happen there. It's less bad since I can Teleport-Vahzl or use the Xarc OP, but the design of that zone makes it twice as much of a pain in the butt.

tl;dr: I haven't had the Glacier OP for two months.

I'm sure the cause is a dual-boxing twits constantly de-leveling their level sync mules that they use to grind meripo on their main, but at least nobody else can set a home point there for de-leveling until their nation is in control.

...and then I'm going to have to get OPs all over again when I start doing Bastok missions. At least I already have Ronfaure and Saruta OPs on Bastok.

Though, that kinda comes with S-E implying a dilemma of choice between Nashira pants and the Enfeebling Sea Cape.

I wouldn't let that stop you from leveling, unless you are solo leveling a lot. I found I didn't really need it as I leveled up, but more when I got to 75 and was able to solo things. Certainly strive to get it as soon as you can, but since it's a single target spell I wouldn't really be concerned that you're not going to get invites without it or anything like that.

Phalanx is really useful, especially while solo leveling. Don't bother getting it unless you plan on pulling hate in a party, or you are in end game/flanking enemies.

Late night Splitting Heirs run on the last day before Conquest/Campaign tabulation; a mix of about 80% JP players and 20% NA players were at the door. A single file line formed, and people were lined up nicely, waiting for their turns. Seven people were in front of me, but no big deal; the line moved fairly swiftly since most groups were using the manaburn setup.

A RDM comes up to rest by the gate when I was the second in line. A player announced it's open, and the player in front of me announced that his group was now entering--then *poof* the RDM who came up by the gate disappears--and the person in front of me couldn't get in.

Yea, the typical, no manner line-cutter. NA, of course.

All the NA players there knew it--and all the JP players knew it, too; "A foreigner cut line?" they asked each other. One of the person in my party knew line cutter, so sent him a /tell. The culprit's excuse? Lamely claimed he didn't know there was a line. The 8~10 people in a single file starting at the gate and moving forward steadily apparently wasn't a clue enough.

Sometimes, it's really *(#$)_`@ embarrassing to be this 'NA' group.

These days, since the merge, Campaign itself could be something of a peeve. I was at a battle in West Sarutabaruta [S] and waves weren't lasting long. I did a /sea and found 95 people in zone...

These days, since the merge, Campaign itself could be something of a peeve. I was at a battle in West Sarutabaruta [s] and waves weren't lasting long. I did a /sea and found 95 people in zone...

And recently, I see alot more people going upstream to grab the mobs before they reach the campaign battle area. Seems the whole campaign scene now has a tone of greediness. This is really evident when it comes to casting raise. I did several campaigns over the weekend as PLD, and nearly every time I started to raise somebody, someone with fast cast would run up and over-ride my casting, even though it was very obvious that I was raising the person. This happened at least 12 times in a row.

So then, I formed a party at the Leypoint. Our whole party had arrived and we were just about to start, when a few other people showed up. I said "please tell me you're not planning on camping on top of us" and their leader said, "well, you're not killing anything yet". So we immediately began pulling mobs. A few minutes later the rest of their party arrived and they camped on top of us. We finally gave up and tried to move, but people got frustrated and we ended up disbanding.

Rudeness and greediness like this make me almost want to quit the game. I can understand people competing for claim of an NM, but camping on top of people for EXP is more than rude...it's simply being an asshole.

LOL... I trained a bunch (5-6) orcs on some assholes doing that out in E. Ron... they had 2-3 out there being slept and like 2-4 people on them... so I got a RR item, put on my livery and Lex Talionis... walked over to a crowd orcs at the fort and WS'd... AoE stun... ran to the assholes... started hitting one of their slept mobs, then the other... they were soooo confused and pissed... then suddenly like 5-6 orc-buddies all showed up and wiped the grass with them. The bird-party this was in front of stopped pulling to witness the madness. I raised myself after the slaughter and just said, "Greedyloxes!!!" I laughed my ass off for the rest of the battle and into the next.
