  • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

I had it (randomly got it one day and chose not to toss it) and I had my spellcast set to swap in when I did drop to below 5% when I was soloing. Pretty pointless most of the time but if I even got 1 hit in with the latent active it was worth it. I never really ran that low on MP just as a general rule but sometimes shit happen, that's what it was there for.

About 99% useless, I agree, but I kept it regardless. Would be great for RDM in the minutes (or so) before convert? Maybe?

I guess I could see its uses on jobs like BLU and DRK also.

Its uses in a Ghetto Convert are also apparent. XD

The way I see it, S-E's line of thought in making that ring was probably "well, especially at that level, what's an MP-bearing job going to do with that little MP? Cast Magi-oh wait."

Pirate server indeed... on Hades it seems that nobody leaves with loot til everyone gets raised cuz we all want the loot distributed quickly to move on to the next battle as quick as possible. Once it's noticed that the loot isn't leaving the treasure que people start searching for bodies with sword above their heads... course it's those soloers who pulled that orc WAY out of anyone's line of site. idk... I've gotten raised many times for the distribution of the campaign union treasure.

Desperado Ring was the first rare/ex I got outta them chests... set the scene for me to expect NADA out of those things from then on. I hate those chests. I've not gotten one useful rare/ex out of them for the jobs I have.

        Pet Peeve:

FoV Chests... they better not take the drop "place" of actual loot... but something tells me they probably kinda do.

They are called Mystery Boxes not FoV chests. As for them taking up a loot spot... I'm not sure about that. Has anyone tested this?

You see? This is why more people ought to level a mage job.

I'm taking a break from the game for a month and apparently 2 others decided to too. Together, we more or less make up the following jobs:
            RDM and SCH (me)
            RDM, BLM, WHM, COR, SCH
            BLM, BRD, COR

And we have such a meleetard LS, that just by 3 people taking a break, apparently all serious activity in the LS has come to a grinding hault. Granted it was never a serious endgame LS to begin with so much as a social that just does endgame stuff sometimes. But damn man, all summer they had people to do things with and now they don't cause the mages went on vacation?

Well, now that "never a serious endgame LS" don't have any "serious activity" anymore, the people would have time to level their mage jobs.

              See? It all works out.

since now you can't even get the 300xp you need to qualify to lot if you arrive after the enemy has already come and gone.
Actually you can quite easily, it still amuses me that I haven't seen anyone else figure this out. Also I think it's 200 exp, but could be wrong.

You all want to know how to do it? Find a non Campaign mob, then start beating on it. I forget if you get exp for damage taken and dealt to non Campaign mobs, but one thing you always get exp for is health cured. So just beat on a mob and cure yourself until you've gotten the exp needed to qualify for Union drops. It's really quite easy and all you need is the time for the cure cap to reach the 200 exp mark, or whatever it is you need to qualify for Union drops.

Another thing, for those people who refuse to lot? I have no qualms about dropping from the Union party if there are people refusing to lot for whatever reason. The loot is auto distributed once someone leaves the Union, and the loot is distributed only among those who have lotted. Meaning those people who haven't lotted don't get any loot. Sure, if someone else leaves the zone or whatever it happens then too,but this way it happens sooner. People with winning lots on some really good items shouldn't be made to wait because someone decides to throw a hissy fit.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.

Been there, tried that. Depends on your job, but especially on the strength of mobs in the zone. If the mobs are strong enough to hit you for decent damage, WHM (my only other 75 job is BLM) is in danger of a dirt nap. And if the mob isn't all that strong, you can't get hit for much damage at all. It's better to just avoid offensive zones for defensive ones with faster XP. Fighting for no reason other than a chance at a lot when the game decides that fort bashing time is over (which could be quite a while) doesn't sound very smart.

That doesn't sound right to me. You can leave the zone just as the chest opens and it force it to distribute? If true, that sounds like a great way to grief people. If you ninja lot and have someone else (even a 2box) who can leave the zone right afterward... yeah, I find it hard to believe it works that way.

Actually, it tells you that union loot is auto-distributed upon anyone entering or exiting the union during battle as you are signing up for the union. I can't remember the exact message but it's there. I noticed this happening more because I'd end up with loot I never lotted on at the end of the battle. Loot had been distributed upon every arrival or drop-out from the union I was in. Makes it worth being there in the beginning of the battle, no? If you've already crested the magic number (200-300 xp, idk) then everytime you get more union members or lose them, you have a chance at the autodistributed loot you have fought for up till that moment.

Idk... now... after the chests spawn is another story.. cuz essentially you are no longer in the union anymore either... just in a group of people linked by interweb'ness lotting on treasure or waiting for others to do so. I'm of the opinion that in that case, you must lot in order to get anything from the treasure pool.

It's a very wierd (or very Squeenix) aspect to campaign...but my boss is circling like a vulture and I can't continue trying to make this comment make enough sense for my liking... much

Read that message more carefully next time. It's referring to party members joining a union. If a party member joins a union, the party's loot will auto-distribute. It says nothing about the union loot distributing.

You can not force union loot to auto-distribute. If you leave the zone, all that happens is that you auto-pass on everything.

I don't think it works that way, but I know what you mean about people not lotting. I was at a battle in Grauberg, and we ended up with two Unions standing about waiting for one last person to lot. Oh well, at least Grauberg doesn't have too much trouble with people soloing mobs (people try, but they usually just use the one structure for cover, and a lot of people know about that spot...)
