    Surprise! It's a campaign rant!

The idiots who go and pull the campaign mobs in Jugner [s] over the one way drop past the river for shits and giggles. Sorry but if someone does this then I should be able to legally drag them out into the streets and shoot every single one of them.

The people who pull Imps and dragons right into the middle of campaign fights then hitting CFH in Xarca [s] deserve that too.

That one person who beat me to my Dweomer Maul lot just because they just joined and got the 300 XP needed to be able to lot. I got 2.2k XP. He got 300. Why the hell should he be able to lot over anyone else? EDIT: Scrap that it was for something else I can't equip. Still the lotting thing does bug me when someone who just joined and got 300 XP can lot for soemthing you spent the whole battle trying to earn.

People who bug me for a raise/stona/cure/wake up/ -na spell then bitching at me for being out of MP when I'm quite obviously the only WHM in the bloody zone.

I had one of those runs, but we really DID stay until everybody had one. It took about 4 hours, and I went as PLD (mostly because I was the only one who COULD), so I ended up getting to bed about 5 AM...

O.o - Thankfully nobody on Fairy has tried this yet.

They need people to drag them into the battle? I went there once yesterday, and the GA was quite literally camping the cliff wall where we were trying to un-weak. I probably ended up being the only one with decent XP, 900? or so from all the cures and raises. Needless to say, there wasn't enough total XP for even one item to appear as union treasure. Someone was eventually able to pull a dark elemental, but then the battle ended.

And I've learned the "join the biggest union" trick, but I keep getting over-lotted anyhow.

Still, two rainbow cloths and a gold thread isn't bad loot. Too bad I didn't get the Lightning Spirit Pact that I saw in one lot, but I was glad to know that there's now a new source for those things.

When the imps get aggro'd they tend to you know, despawn the second the person who aggro'd them goes down. I'm talking about people who intentionally aggro them then call for help so some of the the imps won't depop (or someone will inevitably hit one with AoE and start the big chain reaction off) and start rampaging through the people in the campaign battle.

Idiotic people used to do it all of the time when fortifications were worth the XP it was even more annoying when you were actually fighting the beastmen defenders and someone would come in and do that.

We started at 10pm'ish PST and had to quit around 3:30am'ish. There was a good deal of planning at the camp that coulda been taken care of before hand. We ended up not having a tank so we "hired" a PLD and everyone put in 10k (13 of us) for it..... . .. A PLD who needed it ended up loggin in right after the hired one had arrived and been paid. We didn't have any Drk and our 3 Blm's could barely Stun enough. We went 8/9 on the MOB and got drops 6 times... the last loss being a full wipe that broke the Alliance's resolve to get everyone the drop. 2 people passed out before they got the drop and a Rdm (who got the drop) was the straw that broke our camel when they fell asleep. We needed 5 more Soboros for the people who were still awake and wanted/needed the drop.

So, now... we're hoping for 6 drops somehow. Gathering the people to do it is gonna be the hard part. Another new set of people who need it will mean lotting thru a bunch of people who haven't been on the previous runs or paid 10k ... idk.. it's a f'd up situation and I don't have a clue if my friends and I will get Soboros anytime soon. The people I knew and myself are the ONLY ones that didn't get the drop.

I'd say I'm pissed... but I'm just tooo damn tired.

I play for fun. Which is why I'm always poor on XI; I already work more than enough in the real to have to work in a freaking video game.

But that has nothing to do with not showing respect for other people's time, be it in xp parties, missions, events, etc. That's just selfishness and bad manners.
I play for fun. I pull my own weight when it comes to parties. If I don't have fun in a party, I'll look for a rep for myself, and leave. I do my job in a party. If I am a DD, I deal damage, and make sure I don't cross the line. If I am Rdm, I refresh+Haste bot, and heal here and there if needed. If I am tank, I tank the monster, and heal myself, and other party memebers as pld as needed.

I like to have fun in a game Games are made to have fun, not to work in. I respect other people, and that they want to do stuff, and get stuff done. I pull my own weight, and makesure that I do what is needed, then continue having fun playing the game.

                    • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

The latest WotG missions bring back a little gripe I've always had about the game. Not that it's a very roleplay friendly game to begin with, but I always thought it would've added a little bit more dimension to the story element of the game if they had allowed you a chance to develop a personality for your character a bit more.

Like recent missions have given you chances to choose how you want to answer questions that will eventually lead to the same ends, but how yo uanswer does influence how key NPCs react (however only brief the different reactions). Most of the responses don't have a lasting effect, but they were a step in the direction I'm talking about. In addition, in a lot of missions that tie with each other, across nation and the main WotG storyline, people seem to remember you across different cutscenes. (Shantotto hardly acknowledges knowing you in ToAU, even if you completed the Windurst rank missions. Does Prince Trion give you a similar reception if you completed the San d'Oria missions?).

I always thought it would be a neat idea if made things like a personality, and ways NPCs react to you if they gave you a sort of "allignment". Maybe not Good or Evil cause you always have to be the hero of the game. But maybe things like how you come across to people, or motivations like doing the right thing, money, or glory.

EDIT: It's probably disgustingly obvious to Yellow Mage where I'm getting all this at.

Neverwinter Nights again? Maybe I'm forgetting something entirely, but it doesn't seem that obvious to me.

In all honesty I never made it much past halfway through the original campaign in that game. I would always end up messing up my character build or something along those lines. It didn't help that I typically took forever to get anything done, because I wanted to explore every nook, cranny, and what have you of the game first. Each time I tried to run through it, too.

The only reason I got the Deekin reference in the first place was from watching someone else play.

Or you could be not referring to NWN and I am completely missing the reference.

Yeah I stopped doing Campaign. I actually got a few ranks because CK used to spam Campaign on his character and dual box me while I was in class. He got me half of the notes on my character. And he wouldn't pay any attention to anyone because he had me on the Xbox, so he'd just hit a Cure V macro and set me to engage. Sometimes he'd put up /away also, it should have been obvious I was being his 'mule' since I was on follow constantly, and not there to fuck around curing other people.

It just got fucking annoying. Even in Besieged I never got harassed that much. I'd see someone /s {Cure} {Can I have it?} and I'd cure them, usually no more than a Cure III though, and if they don't thank me, I won't fucking cure them again. To be fair, I don't expect a thanks after every cure, but just the first one show me your appreciation, then I'll be glad to help out again if you need it.

Don't spam it though, I am not afraid to blist annoying beggars. And sometimes after one person asks for a cure, 25 others start. No fucking way. Filter /s, filter /sh, put up /away, and do my thing. I don't mind helping out but seriously don't fucking barrage me with requests. I am not your bitch.

Sort of like UO's +127/-127 range of good/evil? Hell, I'd be happy if the NPCs reacted to much of anything. But it is lulz to hear about WoWers who think the outpost NPCs will help them when they're being chased.

I'm usually in /attack mode during campaign and besieged, so if my keyboard is handy, I'll type a command to toss them a cure. Also, if I happen to see a gray name, I'll type the raise command. But if it doesn't work, I don't waste my time because they're probably out of range.

What amuses me more than annoying me is when someone in besieged shouts for a cure or some other thing that you usually can't reach them for even in /say range, and without any hint of a <pos>. Sometimes I'll shout back "{heal} over here!"

And why is there an {over there} but not an {over here} in the translator?
