If you're going to repeatedly de-level a level sync mule for Astral Burns, at least pay attention to which zone you're doing it in.

A couple of weeks ago on Fairy, suddenly people started doing AB in Buburimu. After all, eeeeeverybody levels in Dunes, so who cares if we hog all the mobs in Bubu, right? Plus, you can even get FoV there! Well, last week, Windurst managed to just barely keep the zone from going to beastmen control. This week, it was just way too far, and finally went gray.

How many of you out there like having tasty Yagudo Drink? Do you know how it's made? Usually, the materials are bought from the Kolshushu regional NPC, and you get lots of delicious YD. Except when Kolshushu is under beastmen control, there is no NPC to buy them from. The only other source of the materials is logging in Buburimu. Yep, logging. Get some hatchets and get to work. At least Fairy has Swift Shoes for the fifth week in a row.

It's no major problem for me, I have a few in reserve. (If I hadn't had a storage full of marbles, I might have stocked up on the materials.) But I'm waiting to see how long it takes before the YD prices start to shoot through the roof.

At least when people (probably RMT) were de-leveling sync mules in Qufim so long ago, they did it in a zone that didn't matter so much.

So, recently I've been replaying the official campaign for that Bioware game Neverwinter Nights, which would go to explain my avatar as well as my Cleric reference in the thread concerning Campaign updates. And I just can't help but (re)notice that Sharwyn's AI is really, really stupid in the official campaign (improved somewhat in the second expansion). And that made me think of instances of Artificial Idiocy in Final Fantasy XI...

      - WHM enemies cast Silena on themselves after Silence on them wears off (as if they were spamming it the whole time they were silenced). There are almost no methods available to players to petrify enemies, but I bet if they could, they'd cast Stona on themselves too.

      - The healer NPC was famous for casting Silence on anything with MP, even if the mob wasn't even a spell caster like a crab.

      - Enemies using Slow I (or Slow I abilities) on people who have Haste on them.

      - BLU beastmen seem to be the only mobs I can think of (barring NPCs that are supposed to act as if they were just like you or me like Maat) that use an actual weaponskill, such as Vorpal Blade.

      - Casting single target nukes on a character who had just used Utsusemi.

      - Pots use Battery Recharge or something like that which restores double digit MP to themselves. As if it really does them any good...

I mean, the game would outright demonic if mob's ignore enmity and just went straight for your mages, but come on. Some things like casting Silena on yourself are just laughable. What kind of challenge would this game really be if enemies started acting as if players were controlling them (even with enmity mechanics still in place)?

This. This and freaking Valkurm Crabs with 654 MP. And Qufim Crabs with 947 MP.

And then we have Kuftal Tunnel Crabs with 1,948 MP. On freaking Paladin mobs. That don't even cast spells. Yeah, I don't think that pots really need the MP restore . . .

        . . .

In case you were curious, the most MP currently possible on a player character is as follows:

        FFXIGEAR.com

(Oh, also Ketaru, like the avatar. Doom, doom, doom, doom . . .)

Dear Sweet Christ it is phsyically impossible for me to get SCH past 32...I've been lfg every other night for about 3 hours a pop for over 2 weeks since hitting 32. I've gotten a total of 5 invites, 3 of which actually involved killing at least one mob, those 3 netted me a total of 4k XP. The other 2 left me just saying fuck it and hitting //exit, tonight I get an invite from a 29 SAM, party setup isn't awful, SAM SAM SAM NIN SMN and myself, everyone is heading out to SauroChamp, things look promising.

Until they run past the Weapons camp...and keep going...and keep going into Garlaige Citadel, which has every camp packed even if we weren't fucking capping ourselves at level 29. I don't know why ever freaking person on the server who makes a party is apparently absolutely incapable of checking a camp to see if it's full before running 5 other people out there, but I haven't seen one who didn't in forever.

So, let's see.....3 hours a pop for 2 weeks... that's 42 hours waiting for an invite. During that time, was there never a tank and 5 DD's also LFP, which would allow you to form your own party?

Perfect lead-in to my next pet peeve.... (God I love this thread) : Drives me crazy when people in the LS complain all night about no invites, and then you check and there's ton's of people looking for party at their level. I can understand not trying to form a party if there's no tanks or healers, but come on.... it's even easier to form a party now that we have level sync. If there's plenty of people LFP then either form the party yourself or don't whine. If you don't like beaing leader, you can always form the party and then pass the lead to someone who is comfortable in that role.

On a similar note, if you are leader then you can somewhat pick the camp you want, whereas if you're not leader you likely to end up in Garlaige at level 29 or similar.

LS's that pirate the Dyna-zones... there's one that has done this twice now to 2 seperate LS's I've been in. So there must be others they are doing this to. Now I'm not sure how "written in stone" reservations for Dyna-zones are; but, nonetheless ~ thanks for allowing us in the zone we had reserved f'tardos. To be honest, I hate the work involved in making and maintaining a party. I don't know if Callisto is the same. But personally I'd rather wait all night for an invite while doing some FoV or something over dealing with the hassle of finding members, and replacing the ones that leave. And trust me, starting a party then giving someone else leader is a major peeve of 99% of people I know. If you don't want to lead that party, don't start it.

You want a party with one SCH, one tank, and 5 DDs? 7 people? Not only does that combo not fit in a single party, the idea of a single healer party at Lv.32 doesn't sound very good at all.

Understood. But, I didn't mean to givethe lead to someone who didn't want it. I'm usually on the other end of the deal. Give me lead any day and I'll usually (happily) take it. I'd much rather be leader than have someone lead who doesn't want to or doesn't know how to. Maybe it's because I've worked in a leadership role for the past 20 years IRL.

My point wasn't so much about not wanting to be leader, because I understand that some people don't want the hassle of it. My point was that if you don't want to go to the trouble of forming the party, don't whine on the LS every 20-30 minutes when you don't get invites. By the way, I wasn't talking specifically about Callisto...he just reminded me of one of my pet peaves, that's all. I've been reading his posts for 2 or 3 years and he has my respect.

On a related note, one thing I do that helps is to do a search of people LFP before I put up my flag. For example, if I'm leveling a DD job and there's already 10 DD's near that level LFP, I won't put my flag up because it's usually a waste of time. Sometimes I'll select which job to level simply because there's nobody with that job (or a competing job) looking for party.

That's a good idea, but most of the jobs I'm leveling require effort before simply putting my flag up. I have to mule a lot of gear back and forth to level some jobs, so once I decide on a job, I'm sticking with it at least for a few weeks.

I'm sure I said it before in this thread, but I will complain about lack of invites (something along the lines of, "bah, no invites!") and still refuse to put together a party.

When I am not saturated with Rdm saying that they only join a party that has a Brd & Cor combo, Brds who only party with relic holders, Whm who won't join until I have a tank, tanks who won't join until I have 2x Brds and a Whm, people who won't join due to lack of PL at lvl 65+, the "OMG, an invite from a LolDrg" people, the "worship me for I am *insertjobhere* people, etc...

THEN the issue of camps comes up, and it's ToAU this, ToAU that, oh wait, the AC is taken by beastmen so disband the party people, yeah, apparently takes too long to chocobo out there. But oh wait, there are 13 exp parties exping off of birds at the moment, and oh looky there, no one in any of the other non-ToAU camps, one of which I had picked to go to so it doesn't even matter that the AC has been taken.

When there are no more back seat leaders and when there are people in the random LFG pool who can find their own ass without using two hands, mirrors, road maps, and specially trained tracker Chigoe, THEN I might consider throwing a party together and showing people how we rock it in a Vyuru~style party.

Until then I'm quite happy to solo while LFG while giving the occasional complaint about lack of invites.

Vyuru summed up exactly why I never bother putting parties together unless I have to. You wouldn't belive how many people just give you the "lolWHM" response when you try to put something together as a WHM.

I like to craft of fish while LFP. Or go do FoV in Zitah since my PLD is in the right level range for those things. As long as I remember the Echo Drops my PLD can make about 15k with each page with no real effort on my part which isn't bad at all when you're just waiting for a party.

Same with WHM. If I try to merit on that I can just go do FoV in Sky while LFP (Ro'maeve would probably be better but casting in that place is the mage equivalent of voking Fafnir from behind). Every single page is Dolls or Pots or both so that place is a goldmine for WHMs especially if you can get a duo going with another WHM or a MNK. West Altep is very nice too if you just want the XP since the Page 5 mobs just con high enough to be EP to a 75 which means that you get all of the K Seals to yourself and you can go farm the stuff there and camp Dunes Widow between pages (I'll have to thank Andrzej for accidentally showing me that one).
