A Scorpion Harness would be a good start for a Rdm that level. As far as other gear, you'll have to wait for an actual Rdm to reply.

Anyways, I have that gear because I'm poor and at level 63, I suppose. That, and unlike what you listed, I actually spend more than half the time healing anyways. That said though... what would you suggest for better gear for melee for someone who's not level 75? Or would mostly AF work well for level 63?

You're not 75. I'm talking about people who are 75 and still do not move beyond this gear. But if you really were serious about melee gear for that level, it would be Scorpion Harness. Meleers who can use Haubergeon use that as the standard for the level. Those that can't use, I believe, Scorpion Harness as the standard.

And... I might want to get a Scorpion Harness anyways. Several jobs use it. Getting it soon though? No, don't have the gil x_x

For starters SH, Amemet mantle (+1), Chiv chain, and depending on your RSE you can use some of it to melee.

It's gear that will last you all the way to 75 and that isn't too expensive. As for getting funds I'd suggest leveling THF if you haven't already, there are many mobs you can xp on and get some gil at the same time.

Edit > Also remember Composure gives you Acc so you'll probably go with att/def food on mobs we usually melee (up to T+).


But then again I usually solo so all the drops go to me.

People in your LS asking you for help, nay, practically begging you for help, and then when you warp home, change jobs (defaulting on a page you were working on as a result), re-gear, port out to the closest location, and choco out as fast as possibly possible, they then tell you that they found someone else and don't need you any more. They just forgot to tell you.

Ya that shit so pisses me off. And if you say "Ok, do you REALLY need me because its going to take me a little bit to get to town and change. Are you sure you are going to wait?", they take it like you are an asshole and really don't want to help them so they get pissed and tell you to forget it. There have been times where I've spent more time explaining the reasons I'm asking them these questions than the actual friggin fight took.

So the next day, the same guy had the audacity to ask me to help him with the next NM fight in the mission series. Dude, seriously.

Another one I've noticed lately, and this makes me feel like a bit of a jerk because of it, but oh well:

There is this guy in our LS who is new to the game. Which is fine. I love newbies. But this guy has no interest in helping himself, informing himself about the game, or taking any initiative whatsoever. He asks 1000 questions, but never listens to the answers. Everything goes in one ear and out the other. So you're just wasting time explaining things. I've pointed him here, to the Wiki, hell even to fucking Alla. Yesterday he said he couldn't even find the Wiki and that the link I provided to him didn't work. Dude, it so did.

We have to explain the most basic of concepts to him over and over again. Like magic aggro. And true sight. And just regular fucking sight and sound aggro. And why casting Protect/Shell on yourself after casting Invisible is a waste of MP. And wholly unnecessary when we're leading you somewhere in the first place.

He is, of course, a RDM. So not only do I feel responsible for at least trying to lead him in the right direction, I feel bad for his parties, because I know what kind of RDM he is.

So, tl:dr - Newbies! Great. Newbies who refuse to learn? Less so!

So true, I hate seriously dislike when new people come into the game and say stuff like "I want to be a Ninja *Cogito Ergo Sum* I am going to go level woodworking so I can make Ninja tools."

I'm like "dude, you are still new, you don't even have a subjob yet lol. Don't worry about the advanced jobs yet or crafting , just party for a bit."

"........Yeah so if I level woodworking I'll save lots of gil because I won't have to buy shehei."

"That's true but for you to be able to save gil you'd have to have high enough woodworking to HQ at about a 50% rate, because you still will have to buy some of the ingredients unless you hunt everything down."

"Oh.......What do I have to craft to level woodworking" *Slaps face* Seriously though, I tried to talk this dude down for about 20 mins. He eventually went to level Smithing instead /facepalm.

I mean I have Woodworking level 69 and I dont even craft shehei unless I feel like hunting down elm logs to make bast parchment. I haven't done that in a seriously long time lol.

Why can't you solo? I soloed from 40-75 without trouble. It sucked, but I managed. Black Mage Solo Guide by Lion heart - FFXIclopedia - a Wikia Gaming wiki follow that, and you'll be fine. Bring a RR earring (or if you have another account with Raise, that works too). Was fairly fun, fairly painless except for days when I had runs of bad luck, which happens, and I got all the KS and BS to myself!

Ya already tried that, and it was all fun before I realized Retrace is 55 (thought it was 45.) I'm not sure I want to keep doing that for another 17 levels.

I liked it, I didn't have to worry about going AFK too many times or leaving when I felt like it. If other jobs could solo that well I probably would do it.
