New peeve is blue magic, I've loved the job since I started it, but i'm gettin to the level 50+ where u cant solo the spells anymore, I'm all for joining together and partying with people but who wants to get a group together just so they can walk to some dangerous place to kill 1-100 mobs so i can get a spell with nothing to reward them but my gratitude.
Who is seriously going to volunteer to go fight wamoura and the dragons in mount zhylom so i cna get cannon ball and body slam.
My main miffed spell is refueling. Our astral candescence on bismarks gone for a walk so i cant get anyone to come to mount zhylom to kill the cluster cause were got to walk there, f that through halvung. So i get to spend the last 3 days camping FOG in lufaise meadows for the 2 cluster pops there. U gotta b kidding 2 pops per day and its never foggy every day
so i get to sit there for hours waiting for a cluster to pop. I'm 0/6 on on it now, an ive been there for 2 days. wasted time.
why make a boring chore worse by making players rely on random weather as well as random chance to learn the silly thing

I don't know whether to call this a PetPeeve for FFXI or for irl, but it's definately one! It's just the fact that I'm not up-to-date with all the abbreviations that are used in the posts...really gets me going... I lose track of what I'm reading and I know it's all my own fault...hey...is there a dictionary with all them in? That would be handy...
af/mob/jp/urgh...
And why is there no abbreviation for abbreviation!?!?
They nerfed a cheap, brainless way to get skillups that did no benefit the allied campaign effort in any way.
Fix.
Sleep.. Nerf.
So you can't bullshit hold an NM forever?
Sounds like a fix to me.
Augents.. random??? wth!
Varys by type of Augment. The Augments for ACNM and various ACP items can be very good, even though they're random. The FoV ones are seemingly random, we haven't figured them out yet.
SMN update.. its not an update.. all items were fix's.
Welcome to how SE updates pet jobs. Look at how they fixed DRG and BST. They're better than they were and have very little new to show for it. Quit crying, SE is working on it.
MMM drop rate. Nerf.
Exploitation by players picking a lower level job for easy fight.
Fixed.
Game issues.
Lottery NM's
NM that have over 3 hour pop times.
Drop rates.
Your issue - competition. How dare people camp your NM and there only be a chance that you get what you want. Welcome to MMOs, bud.
Job issues..
SMN.. FFXI is the only mmo I have played where there is cost for upkeep of pets.
SMN doesn't have a cost to upkeep pets at all. It has an MP cost. You squat on you ass and get MP back to summon them. Free.
BST and PUP pay to truly upkeep thier pets, SMN manages its MP to keep calling pets. DRG does it by sacrificing HP. Who's really paying here?
Read: Not SMN.
SE issues..
Do not listen to player base.
Impliments changes to make game more a grind than enjoyable... I think just to insure that people dont complete the game and leave so they can keep the money comming in from the player base.
/rant off.
(1) SE is listening, MMO players are just jaded in general
(2) Listening does not mean getting exactly what you want.
(3) You can never "complete" an MMORPG.

This was no exploit. It gave a reason to take a chance at losing exp and contribute to the battle. Beating on forts does benefit the cause by helping the allied forces win faster. You take that chance and if the a defending unit pops on you, you're more than likely going to get aggro and die. Beating on the mobs with no tags helps the mobs go down faster at the risk of getting AoE'd to death. There was no reason to nerf this like they did /BRD bots. Those did absolutely nothing but put you at risk of getting GM'd for MPK when they didn't lose exp.
To be the best in this game...you must help each other become the best.
So you can't bullshit hold an NM forever? Sounds like a fix to me.
Unless if I'm mistaken here... didn't the nerf also get extended to non-HNM mobs? I could be completely wrong there, but... I recall reading somewhere that this was the case. It's one thing to try and stop the campers on NMs, fine with that, but... was there really a reason to nerf it in, say, dynamis? Or if I'm not mistaken, the random mob in Buburimu Peninsula that always seems to get me when I'm on BLM. But eh, I'm basically saying the same stuff Aksannyi was saying earlier.
Varies by type of Augment. The Augments for ACNM and various ACP items can be very good, even though they're random. The FoV ones are seemingly random, we haven't figured them out yet.
As much as I would like to say "FoV should allow people to choose their augments", it... really shouldn't. The NMs are easy enough to solo as is, and it could easily become an exploit. I just wish I would get something better than "+1 water resistance"
Your issue - competition. How dare people camp your NM and there only be a chance that you get what you want. Welcome to MMOs, bud.
Welcome to MMOs indeed. Still is unfortunate when you have other things to do and can only be on for a few hours. Odds of that NM that has a 24 hour pop cycle being on then? Might be slim. And even then, 5% drop rate or something But yeah, "welcome to MMOs", it's par for the course.
SMN doesn't have a cost to upkeep pets at all. It has an MP cost.
Pretty sure it was the MP cost that he meant. The MP cost sounds more like "upkeep" than the price for pets on PUP, BST, or DRG does. At least to me. BST and DRG get to have their pets for free, if they want. PUP... I'm not too familiar with, but I'm sure it doesn't have a gradual upkeep like SMN does.
Anyways, I don't even think I'd call SMN a pet job with how it is currently played. SMNs barely have their avatars out for longer than a single attack... well, except for carbuncle. Still though, it's balanced. It's something akin to DRG, only you have more options on what you summon at the cost of having said options stick around for less time. Oh, and I suppose there's the whole "gradual loss of a stat" bit that differs too, cause DRG can have its wyvern and not pay upkeep on it, but... again, it's pretty balanced as is.
And eh, might as well toss in another pet peeve of mine. Invites when I'm only on to check sales, toss things on the AH, etc. and thus am only around for a couple of minutes. Why do I only get invites when I should be studying for finals?
They nerfed a cheap, brainless way to get skillups that did no benefit the allied campaign effort in any way.
Having written a guide for it, I know that not only was it cheap and brainless, it was also limited. Fortifications were limited to level 50. Regular campaign mobs were limited to level 65 or so. NMs were too dangerous in an environment where nobody tanks. The only good use for it was grinding skillups from very low to medium high without having to wait around for a Besieged. Basically, it's best for when you get 30-40 levels ahead of your skills, and finally realize what the problem with that is. Even then, DD jobs can just go out and beat on crabs and stuff. It's the mage jobs that needed the aggro-free combat skillups from forts the most.
The EXP nerf from fortifications, however, seems to be way too much. I haven't been CBing much lately, but I've heard reports of less than 100xp after beating on them for many minutes. They should've come up with improvements to the pathing of campaign mobs to visit the notorious places like Eldieme by the flag. This would give incentive to defeat them first, making the fort bashing become a reward for cleaning up the place (this is usually how it worked in outdoor areas). The most important thing should've been to make it much harder to bash on the fort while AFK.
Even better would have been not to have the dungeon fortification points so damn far apart in the first place. In all the other areas, the fort points are around a small tower (except for Grauberg's large tower), too close to get away with fort bashing with baddies around. That was the real problem with fort bashing. It just so happened that Eldieme was super convienent, being an easy walk from Batallia, with a badly-pathed fort next to a flag. Crawler's Nest was a bit trickier, as I usually had to use a sacrifice Reraise to get from the flag to a fort point. And Garlaige was just impossible, with the C.A. being so far from the forts. I only tried skill-bashing there once. Then a leechkeeper cast Phalanx on the fort. >.<
But you can trust SE to come up with the wrong solution for a problem. (Goblin Bounty Hunter, anyone?)

Fought the fort for about 25 mins as a WAR75/SAM37, gained about 50XP and 35 Allied Notes. I mean I fought it hard too, like I always do. Keeping up all my Job Abilities and launching repeated Raging Rushes...But, 50XP....MFWTF. (Sorry I'm addicted to that phrase now lmao.)

Pet Peeve... needless drama... I'm a theatre kid, but sweet jeeeebooz some o' these players are bigger drama queens than I've dealt with. My social LS has soooo many personalities and some really don't play well with others lately. However, that I got used to... but the latest result of drama (out of my control) that immediately affects me is that my newly acquired and first Dyna LS just went tits up
They've had a few unsuccessful runs (major wipes) of late on cities they used to pwn (wondering if the enfeeble-nerfing has to do w/ it). They are starting a new LS and invite only the people they want. As I was new and only had Dnc leveled to 75, I doubt I'll be invited. Only thing they might like about me is I have Dreamlands unlocked and soon will have access to Sea. At least I got a couple of clears, an intro to Dynamis, and most importantly met some cool people. But I still wished I woulda gotten one AFv2 ... not one dropped on any of the runs I could go on and everyone said Dnc AFv2 ridiculously common to drop. Kinda funny as I watched 4 BLM AFv2 pants drop on the last run I got to do. They'd been waiting forever so I was very happy for em. Oh well... I'm sure I'll fill my time with some other thing to do in this game.
On Fortifications and Campaign Battle changes ~ I have to say that the nerfing on Fortifications has been a bit harsh... I had a high lvl/medal'd buddy of mine let me know the day of the update that he got 700 xp for 2hrs + of bashing on Forts. Since he hadn't read anything about the change and we're not afk'rs, we spam the holy hell outta that wall w/ abilities, he was pretty livid. I think it sux cuz I always considered the forts to be the nugget center to the hard candy... kinda a reward. I never tried skilling up on Campaign... Though I'll miss the random skill-up that informs me that I forgot to get my stupid Tags, lol.
... is it just me or are there more Imps out in the campaign battles? Seems to me there was a abnormal amount last time I was in Batalia Downs kickin around the Orc-casters out there. The Imps just kept coming so I was wondering at the time if they nerfed the Forts but upped the encounter rates for those lil dudes... anyone notice this or am I merely imagining it?
Any opinions expressed are my own, and potentially unpopular with others. Should this be upsetting, maybe, read it again, insert smiley faces, rainbows, and glitter as needed.

Umm a lot of spells 50+ ARE soloable, youre only just referring to the more difficult ones........take refueling for example, get a high lvl rdm/nin or blu/nin to solo them in Mt. Zayholm and presto! Thats what I did. As for Body Slam, heh, most BLUs (myself included) learned it in Nyzul Isle off of the dahaks there (theyre easier for some reason). Spells like Death Scissors, Flying Hip Press, Frypan, Stinking Gas, just to name a few, i ALL solo'd man. And if you cant solo it or get help for some of those spells, no worries, you can always go back for them later ^^b Dont let BLU stress you out, its more fun than you think.

If you are not wearing allied tags beating on the fortifications does not count in any way, shape or forum towards the Allied Nation's influence in that region for Campaign.
It was an exploit for skillups, nothing more and nothing less.
What if you die?
If you get in AoE or Aggro a mob without tags on, you should die.
Its not like losing EXP on death actually means much anymore since the EXP penalty is now so forgiving and the EXP curve much lighter..

I don't know if this is the case or not, but if it is that certainly helps with the absence of exp from fortification damage. If SE really has an issue with people spending their time hitting fortifications then I vote for removing the fortifications period, and make mobs show up to every battle. Having a battle with absolutely no mobs and only fortifications to hit is asinine.

That and even if youre beating on NMs and the like, if you dont have tags, you dont get hit by their AoEs. I would know, I used to do that for skill ups when I was leveling BLU. I managed to get blue magic skill ups all the way up to level 70 by beating on campaign NMs
