Not a single one of our tanks use fire resist, even on Tiamat. Capped Barfira and Shell V (on top of Aegis) and we don't need it. Granted, the linkshell I'm bitching about is a piece of shit, but COME ON. Not one of them could hold hate, and to boot (past 50%), THEY WERE ALL ON IT. WTF good is that doing anybody.

I did not get up today to spend three hours in the Chasm watching this ls suck. And the worst part is they think they're GOOD. And they say stuff like, "Oh, well, it happens."

NO THE FUCK IT DOESN'T. STOP PERPETUATING THE MYTH THAT SUCKING = GOOD!

Okay yes sometimes it does happen. I'll give you that. But it happens to them ALL THE TIME. They like lose all their composure at low percent and fuck up like idiots.

Shame I was the only on there, on WHM to boot, and unable to do shit about it but scream in LS for people to come, only for them to get here too late and the fail ls to claim again.

Ok...so my current peeve. When people are jerks about gear. I expect people to have decent gear and if they do thats fine. I might think "Oh I'd wear XXX instead of that." but I wouldn't fault them if thats all they can afford/have time to get. There are so many people out there that think "Oh, that equip is outdated by the newer stuff in the game that is better. You can get X piece from Salvage/HNM/etc." FYI people....not everyone has the time to farm gil for pieces that cost multi millions or the time to be on for anything but events. They have to make due with what drops from ls events and theres a long list of people wanting the same thing.

So, basically this stems from a discussion I had with lsmates about doing a particular event. They didn't feel the need to do this event often because it dropped mage gear and they deemed the gear "pretty much worthless". Unfortunately people like me rely on these events to get our "worthless" gear because our time in game is limited. Shit I have several abj.'s I can't afford to get made into equips because I just don't have the time to farm the gil. (FYI, all abj's were free lot and no one wanted them.)

Basically, take into account that not everyone has your play style before looking down your nose at doing events you feel are worthless. Don't tell people what equips they should want/have. You may think its worthless but they may not...its ok to disagree but not for you to impose your beliefs on them by denying them the opportunity to obtain the gear. Everyone should have an equal chance at obtaining items so don't use the excuse that the melee list is longer. Think of it like this, when the mage list runs out then we'll be doing melee exclusively so it all works out in the end.

I never fault people for not having HNM/Salvage gear. I realize not everyone does that. Hell, if I was faulted for that, I'd never have gotten into Excellence in the first place. But they realize that my gear was really good for not having ever stepped foot in the HNM scene.

Hell, I don't even expect HQ stuff, but some people make some seriously retarded gear choices. TPing in STR rings is never good. RDMs in melee gear (outside of campaign/soloing) usually horrid! I will get miffed at people who don't even try to equip themselves with at least some level of decency. But there's a line between "acceptable, but NQ" and "omg why the fuck are you wearing that?!" that so many people don't seem to grasp.

Ya, they want us mages to help them get their gear but not to get ours because they deem our gear worthless. And I'm sorry if someone from my ls reads this but I'm not agreeing to do this to people no matter what. I'll fight it. It's not right no matter how long the melee gear list is. Everyone should have an equal chance at gear.

Yeah, and actually Ultima gear is useful. I macro turban in for Drain/Aspir, body (if I ever get it) for the same, Hands for the same (lol), and also for SMN since nothing better on me atm, legs ... duh ... and feet are good for Elemental resist set.

Hell even if you do 2 Omega to 1 Ultima (since Ultima sets are harder to complete), at least the mages are getting a shot.

They wanted to do 4 Omega to 1 Ultima and that made my bp bump up a notch. We are going to shoot for 2 to 1 ratio now and I don't want to hear anyone whining or anyone telling me that I don't need those equips cause they are shit. I don't tell them that they don't need 5 full sets of melee gear when only one or two pieces of it are actually useful.

Homam head sucks! Other pieces are good though, situationally. 2 to 1 sounds good though. That's about what we do, mostly because we farm gunpods from Omega and get half a popset from that.

Give me a piece of gear and I bet I can find a use for it. Somehow. Very little is 100% useless. A lot gets surpassed, and then becomes useless by default, but everything has at least one use, that isn't decorative.

Two peeves:

First Peeve: People (not necessarily Red Mages) who assert that the Red Mage Update is automatically useless because, oh noes, it actually gives a boost to melee. Not even mentioning that Red Mages haven't gotten an update for six freaking years now and our melee ability was considerably even more sub-par than should be for a jack-of-all-trades, the only thing that matters is that now we'll have to "deal with" Red Mages daring to have to audacity to move themselves to the front; how annoying! /sarcasm Sure, our magical abilities, in theory, shouldn't be affected by the update with the way RDM is largely played now, except, hi2uWHM is in that direction. ->

Second Peeve: The Actual Red Mages themselves, practically my kin, daring to vindicate the stereotype that "no update will ever be good enough." Hellooooo? We're getting an Accuracy buff and double duration for self-buffs, not to mention En-Ancient Magic which is as awesome as all get out. What more could we possibly need than our own personalized application of the elemental wheel debuffs? And they are available at the perfect levels, too: 50 is right where melee ability and gear availability begins to decline (though on that note, Augments could very well assist with that, as well). And you all are Red Mages for Pete's sake: stop being so green over White Mage's update! It actually benefits us, too, as it helps facilitate the trade-off of Red Mages and White Mages as preferred healers that both sides have been wanting to make for the longest time! Think of it, indeed, as the "second half" of our update of sweetness.

We are getting what we have wanted for the longest time: stop complaining and seize the day!

Not everyone even does endgame either

This sums up just about everything think about gear. Thank you. I can't stand the people who yell "GIMP!" because someone doesn't have all +1 gear or they have no gear that takes months or even years to get from HNM/Salvage/Limbus/Dyna etc.

Having fairly standard gear that works fine and isn't rare/ex or +1 does not equal gimp.

Using AF does not equal gimp. A lot of AF pieces are very useful macro pieces and some people just put on full AF when in town to look cool. A good example would probably be MNK, their AF pieces are good macro pieces yet I see a lot of MNks standing around in town in full AF at Lv75 because it looks cool. If I'm on COR I actually wear my eyepatch (mainly because the Noct beret looks so fugly on Female Humes) and/or a rapier type sword when running around in town for no other reason than because it looks cool (and I have the /tells to prove it!).

Having your key pieces with one or two the need an upgrade does not equal gimp (unless they interfere with your job) especially if there is nothing better to equip until later levels.

Having gear you really should have upgraded 10-20 levels ago and could have upgraded them. Yeah I would say that is gimp.

Oh and I may as well say it. Wearing gear just because it looks cool in a party even though it's functionally useless = gimp. Unless you're a WHM. All WHM gear looks cool (except the Relic body and Errant stuff) and is useful for us

People who quit, in two forms.

1. People who quit and don't say anything, they just disappear. No "Thanks for everything, guys. It's been fun, but I'm moving on." No post on the forums, no pop in to say good bye, nothing. Just disappear. Just comes off the wrong way.

2. People who you've had a lot of fun with over a long period of time and decide to quit the game, saying their goodbyes, and make you really sad in the process. One of my good friends just quit, and it actually teared me up a bit that he's leaving.


There are people who quit and I don't care, so it's not like you're never allowed to quit around me or anything. But those two types of quitters just suck. The first one irritates me more than the second one, but it still sucks losing good friends.

I have two:

1. People who lose their mind in intense situations.

2. People who think FFXI > RL

1. Long story short, we are in Dynamis Jeuno after boss kill doing our second farming pull. The puller target mob runs to the left then back to where it was hit then came at us which cause a chain reaction which links 5 other statues. We had about 20 mobs running at us.

People just lost their minds. All stragety went out the window for a few of the members. Some of the melee were attacking...yes I said attacking, not assisting but attacking mobs. The RDM and BLM kept it cool and was doing crowd control + taking down the statues. Some of the PLDs forgot to voke some of the mobs being slept to keep the BLM or RDM from being steamed roll when the mobs woke.

2. I will have to take some blame because in mid chaos of the above fight, my cat walks into the room with a gopher in its mouth. As I look down I realize I better get the corpse and throw it away.

Then the rodent moved and jerked itself from the cats mouth. As I see it sprint behind the entertainment center, I realize it is not a gopher but a baby rabbit...a baby wild rabbit from the wooded area next to our apartment complex.

The first thing that goes through my head is, "If one of the kids walk into the front room sees this thing and tries to rescue it. This rabbit might have rabies and could bite them..." my next throught is "What if it already bit the cat..."

I drop the controller and sprint to the kitchen and grab our largest container with a lid. As I take the container from the shelf, I see it being chase into the bathroom...the bathroom which connects to the kids room. I sprint in the bathroom and see the cat has it trapped behind the toilet and the waste paper basket. The rabbit suddenly reverses directions and attempts to jump on the bathroom sink. On the second attempt, I catch it in the container and close the lid.

I put a few holes in the container, drop some vegies from the fridge in there, and tape down the lid. I put the cat in the cat carrier. When I get back to the PS3, I realize half of the LS is dead including me. I told the LS a shorter version of the story.

One of the LS member says "Wow he was off saving a rabbit while we all died." I replied with, "If it comes to you losing 100-300 exp or giving a remote possiblity of any member of my family being infect by any desease or virus, I would MPK you myself until you delevel to level 5!"

Then the Leaders of the LS jumped in and said for me to go handle RL stuff and the will see me on the next run.

(FYI the vetenarian said neither the rabbit or cat has rabies. I gave the rabbit to a neighbor who wanted it for a pet for her kids to raise.)
