I was in a party the other day, Monday night when I got COR30 and found out the pain in the rare that Corsair's Roll can cause. We has a WAR who would throw a fit if he didn't have COR+RNG rolls on even though we were fighting crabs in Qufim and well his WS's were averaging 8 damage every time the defence boost went up. (He also refused to invite a freind of mine to the party because she was on SMN and he would basically just reply "lolSMN" even though he invited a RDM friend just to /follow around and leech but that is another story entirely).
My question is basically is Corsair Roll really that important to other people or should I just be telling them where to shove thier requests?
Oh and second is the wrong that I started intentionally fumbling rolls and stealing stuff from dropped Treasure Chests just to spite the WAR for being a jerk and an idiot who was expecting me to let his freind leech off my rolls? I am playing a pirate and all.
I'd say to tell him off as an idiot ... UNLESS you were short on mobs. Given the way Qufim is these days, I'm not taking your having enough mobs for granted...
People who invite you to a pty and not tell you everything you will be doing, specially if it's in a weird or not not often used pty set up (though maybe i should ask more often) -.-
Last night got an invite on sam to a pty in the dunes and i was told that i would be tanking which i thought would be ok i guess and especially since they have 2 whms. When i got there I discovered that besides the 2 whms the other 3 were blms 2 without a subjob and i would be pulling, tanking and dd. I was a lil annoyed at first but pty turned out to be pretty good, got quite afew lvls in the limited time i had even with my slow ass pulling :3
Another pet peeve - FoV I both love it and hate it
SAM isn't bad at tanking, they get decent defence gear and like WARs make fairly decent emergency tanks if you absolutely cannot find one for your party. I've had a party on Lesser Collibri where a SAM/WAR was tanking and we did extremely well. it's just we couldn't pull as fast as we normally would have due to the need to rest after every other fight. It was very fun and I actually got to enfeeb the mob for once.

The exp was good even without a band and Corsair's Roll which is the only reason why I put up with this guy. That and he didn't flip out at me for not wanting to shoot while the sync was under 22 because of the damage being gimped by the level cap. Honestly the sync originally started at 19 and I was doing more damage swinging my dagger than using the 22 bullets. Stupid level sync.
That and it was on one of the rare days where Qufim wasn't packed. I counted 2 other parties there instead of the usual 18, and there were no parties current in the jungles so I would probably have been waiting a long time if I make an excuse and left.
Still there is something oddly satisfying about intentionally busting a Hunter's Roll on a jerk WAR party leader (if you stand just right so the AoE will only hit someone who is being a jerk to you, spamming double up is fun) then stealing his potions from the dropped Treasure Chests. He wasn't voking so if the NIN wanted to get shadows back up I would have to intentionally pull hate by spamming bullets so the NIN could get shadows back and try to somehow draw hate back from me before I died. I think if I get a WAR dumb enough not to voke hate off the COR I reserve every right to steal his potions
I guess that what he gets for being a jerk to a pirate
My current favorite is people who invite me to a PT, then after it fills up they transfer leader over to me and ask where we're going. Then after I drop the PT to go do something else the guy in my social shell starts trying to ream me for leaving that trainwreck and for some reason a bunch of people join in. They play some Internet telephone and the story changes to me starting the party and disbanding it as soon as it was filled up. I don't ever remember being such a petty bastard.

Yeah just didn't expect to be pulling, tanking and such in a lvl 12 pty but then again i knew not many dd were lfp. I think i was the only one actually >.>
Wasn't sam introduced to be another potential tank job aswell as dd? Or was that just a rumour i heard lol XD
Id have no problem if they used their mana to keep the people tanking their mobs alive or if they cured like a paladin to keep hate and tank, but a lot of the melee white mages will just haste themselves and melee letting thee melee hold hate and die off so no damage is done and no progress is made on offensive campaign battles. If people stayed alive we would be able to attack the fortifications.
I understand white mages may want to melee some times and have some potential but this is a game about minmaxing in groups, your letting your "team" down in an multi player game when you don't even do the most basic healing to keep someone alive especially if they are tanking a mob for you.
I think what Pearlsea was trying to say is while the Whm is meleeing, they can toss out a cure (for which they will get exp) every now and again to the person tanking the mob they are hitting. If the Whm waits until said "tank" is at like 30-40% and use cure V, not only will they maximize their meleeing time, but they'll do it without getting as much hate from a cure IV.
Personally when I take my Whm to campaign I will tank the mob I am fighting, or at the very least bounce hate from myself and others.
Is Campaign an activity which can be solo'd..? Yes. Does this mean you're allowed to be a jerk..? No.
If that Whm was soloing or tanking their own mob and not curing anyone else, that's their perogative. To allow someone else to get their face beat in while they get their melee rounds in and not using their mp is just lame.
Edit: Wait, I just reread Pearlsea's last post and noticed the last paragraph made it sound like a Whm's job is to heal anyone who needs it and then they can do what they want with the rest of their time. My reply above applies to that too. Please don't be selfish, you make yourself as bad as the Whm that won't cure the tank.

I hate melees who don't bother to attempt to prevent themselves from taking damage and/or some sort of healing capabilities and then bitch at all the mages who A. don't know that the melees didn't do something like /whm or /dnc to save their own asses, B. can't see them to fucking target them anyway, and C. didn't come to Campaign to be someone's cure bitch.
Granted there is nothing at all wrong with tossing a few cures here and there when I can see that someone is getting his face bashed in, but if you can't come to campaign prepared to take/prevent/cure your own damage, I don't see why you should cry when you die.
I can sit there tabbing to all the melees and toss only cures and get a fraction of what I'd get from meleeing, taking damage, curing myself, buffing myself and everything else. Don't gimp my xp because you only want to hit a mob and AFK.

Wait, people actually tank in campaign? Yeah, I remember the days when I'd throw a cure and get my face ripped off. One time I threw a few cures and not only did I get killed, the NM did four MPKs after it was done with me. (Weakened idiots loitering in front of the tower, as I recall.)
Sure, I see a PLD doing it right now and then, and I've had fun throwing cures on them, but I've said before that most people in campaign can't hold hate to save MY life.
Yeah, not your personal cure bitch, etc. You want someone to heal you? There's this thing called a "party" that (surprise!) even works in campaign. As a bonus, it even lets Regen and Erase work.
