BRDs who insist on subbing NIN no matter what and throw a fit if you ask them to *gasps* sub WHM.

I was exping on imps a few nights ago and the party insisted on a BRD despite the fact that we were killing so fast inviting a BRD instead of say another DD would have just been pointless. Imps as we all know never hit hard enough or move fast enough to warrant pulling with shadows up (/WHM gives you Shadows AND Stoneskin anyway). So I invited a BRD asking him to sub WHM. So the BRD completely ignored me and turns up as BRD/NIN in a V Cloak and full MP gear.

So I asked the BRD why he was in both useless gear given that BRD/NIN has no MP and no spells to use with that MP gear and why he didn't even turn up as the job I asked for. Cue the drama, bitching and crying about him needing shadows to pull (even though the RNG was pulling) and the inevitable accusations of me being a useless WHM for even daring to allow another party member to come along with healing spells. He also refused to use Pianissimo to land Ballad on the PLD and DRK and bitched every time that they didn't run back to where I was standing for ballad even when ballad was being refreshed mid-fight and Pianissimo has something like a 15 second recast timer.

I continuously warned him to pretty much "Shut up or be repped." and he went and played the "my job is vital to the party's survival" card. Thankfully within about 15 mins there was another BRD seeking and he was really nice and cooperative with the rest of the party. He even helped out with dealing with AoE Silence, Poison and Sleep

I've made it a rule now to add all of the good BRDs to my friends list so I can separate the BRDs that are a pleasure to party with and are actually levelling the job because they like it from the spoiled brats and drama queens who only have it levelled for merits and party invites.

Amen Firewind! I'm tired of people and all their useless excuses when it comes to subbing the correct subjob. I see this with people that do endgame the most. We all know that as soon as you hit 75 you know everything there is about every job.

I was using my nin to party in qufim. Qufim is alot like valkrum where jobs and sub really don't matter, even more so if you have a pl. Even more so if you PROVIDE the pl.

So me and a fellow ls mate were lfg in qufim. We also had a friend who was a pl. We got a pt. I was Nin/mnk. Now I understand this immediately makes you go "What?", but I have reasoning. I don't quite have the 40k yet to get fame for utsu, so I don't have shadows, so I don't sub war, so people don't expect me to tank. That was my only gimp. I had great gear and was providing a pl, was a great puller, and am a great team player.

So here we are pting and the whole pt are morons, no one understands sc, so i safe my ws for a good almost 300% tp to close from them, and its doing like an extra 20 damage to a crab, which is very nice. I keep trying to expalin them, and mb, but no one seems to get it. But they know everything and know I'm just some noob making shit up. Literally things like this are said...

"Dude, I got 3 lvl 75 blm, thats 150 levels of blm bro, I don't know what your talking about and I'm a pro."

In refrence to the mb. So i talk about the extra cosmetic effect of sc and mb incase they understand that, and they all start loling asking me why im talking about makeup in a game. This pushes me, I mouth the faggot, and let him know he is a liar, 75x3 does NOT equal 150, and that if he doesn't know what mb is and has a blm he should just GTFO. Then he calls me a lolnin for not having utsu and being /mnk and not tanking with /war. SO I disband.

Seriously, i know i don't have utsu but i don't gimp myself by going /war without shadows, I did /mnk for a reason, and I BROUGHT THE PL. We didn't need a tank lol. I was an effeicent dd, and did more damage then anyone else more the likely. My boosted ws with closing the sc, did way more damage then any nuke or other ws. And I'm not sure i should have been doing the most damage, the other players just sucked. Like the thf who spammed sneak attack... in front the the mob. And never moved. But I'm the lolnin, and I'm the noob. Seriously, I came back to thinking the game was better with the sync and easier levels, but the people who play seem more.... like WoW kids. No knowledge of the game. But 3 lvl 75s >.<

I'm dropping my blu/nin im currently leveling to try bard, it seems so fun.

I would opt to not play Bard due to the above anecdote. I'm willing to bet that the Bard who showed up in full MP gear with Ninja subbed was just doing it to be a dick, otherwise what would be the point? If I was a Bard I'd probably do the same thing whenever someone told me how to play my job.

I don't know how true that really is. I feel like if you are leveling certain jobs, then you should have the correct sub for that job and the ability to use it. Just in case you are called to fill that role. You obviously have Warrior leveled as a subjob, but you don't have Utsu: Ichi so you can't even be called on to tank if the current tank leaves. Why are you neglecting questing Utsusemi: Ichi over buying it when you could be farming Yagudo Necklaces for norg fame for the quest?

I disagree with this too. Some people think having a PL makes it ok for you to neglect your responsibilities that are junctioned to your job.

For Example, I was in a party in the dunes with this PLD that was a complete idiot lol. He was the tank and wasn't curing himself at all while we were fighting, which was causing the whm to burn out of MP pretty fast. Eventually I say to the PLD, who is also the leader, "Hey man, you could cure yourself a bit and save the WHM some MP. ^_^" To which he replied "I have a PL on the way." So I said to him "Well the PL is not here yet, so you might want to cure yourself til he does get here." 2 mins later... He gets hit until his HP drops to like 30....*PLD starts casting cure*...*PLD was defeated by the hill lizard.* Poor guy didn't even get the cure off and then the PL had to raise him when he got there 2 mins later. I got to tank as SAM while he was dead XD.

Now that dude was a idiot lol. Last I knew, this was Final Fantasy and not Disgaea, you cannot reincarnate and combine previous levels. Also like you said 3x75 is not 150 lmao.

That was the new version of Sneak Attack, does no Crit damage and draws no hate .

Well I'm not keen on tanking, so its not a priority to me. I understand I need it for pt situations, and just extra survivability, but I don't have the money, nor the time and patciene to farm 140 yag necklaces, i would rather buy the zinc ores all at once, i have about 20 from random leveling, and just now last night made 30k from ah. So i will get them tonight actually, along with tonko. But before, it was money pending.

I don't parse because I usually take off damage in my log, and off the screen for better frame rates, but when I suspect, I turn it on. Not only was I Out damageing everyone, but I was hitting more often, but i was dual weilded, in their defense. I figured a sam/war might hit harder.

As a peeve... People kicking me from a party to invite their friends. I love sitting there, attacking say... a colibri, only to have some Thf with his seek-flag up, and then see myself get removed from the party. Their reason? "Sorry, friend logged in and wanted to party."

You didn't get the memo? Thanks to ToAU, nobody understands skillchains any more. They didn't last summer when I started playing, anyhow. The only people who even try to understand skillchains are those who can self-skillchain, usually SAM.

From what I've read on this site, skillchains are dead because nobody at high levels wants to fight anything but lolibri which steal your TP before you can have a chance to SC, and mana burst is dead because it doesn't do enough damage to be worth the trouble, and nobody wants BLMs around anyhow except for endgame and missions.

And now that they're useless, nobody teaches newer players like me how they work. As a WHM I have accidentally MBed a couple of times in campaign with Banish, but with all the log scrolling I have no idea what I was even bursting on.


And for my peeve of the day, people who are being chased by a campaign NM, running around like a chicken with its head cut off, who run by you just as they fall down. "Well that was fun. Oh look a squishy taru WHM with weakness status! GROWL. :swat:"

You missed what I said, but that's ok. I said you "Should" be able to do your job "if" you are called on to do so. You've got to admit if the tank left the party, everybody would've been staring at you. How would it look if the leader said "We got a NIN, you mind tanking?" to which you would reply "I don't have Utsu. or I'm DD only." "Oh, I guess we'll have to find a tank then." Either they'd kick you from the party, or find another tank (Who would be wondering why you need 2). You've got to have more than just the "PL" going for you, since when you don't have one you'll probably be overlooked unless you tank. Notice: I see what you are saying from your perspective, but this is how I'd look at it if I was in that party.

You kinda lost me there. Does the parser draw down that much memory that it lags out your frames? If so you need a new parser lol. When I have mine turned on, I just let it run in the taskbar so I won't feel like checking it during the fight. Only time I'll check it will be after fights and during breaks.

Oh you guys use programs? I'm a numbers cruncher, take shots of the log, and alt+tab, pull up the equations and old calculator and do it manually. Thats why I don't parse unless needed.

On a side note, can I get a link to a parser program? That would be nice.

For just one pt that lasted like two hours, its not entirely to much work, but does take a bit.
