Have so many people just never done campaign before and not realize the NMs entire army will be following him shortly and will massacre anyone dumb enough to be fighting already? Or are people just too dumb to learn from their mistakes?
I love when people do this, it lets me pick a mob off the train as they're getting slaughtered. I typically grab one and pull it away, not super far where it can't be seen so that people can jump in, just out of link/aggro range. Then there's always the one jackass who has to aggro the train and come die right on top of me and the other 2 or 3 non-idiots who are fighting my mob.

Also people who are too sissy to fight Shadowhand. I mpk'd about 35 people a few weeks ago, lol. They just sat and stared at Shadowhand wailing on the fortification for 5 minutes when all the other mobs were dead, finally I just got tired of sitting there, Flashed her and brought her to the crowd. I was actually tanking it ok for a few(think I was 72 PLD at the time) but eventually I dropped and SH went on an absolute rampage.

I remember days when the only other inhabitants of Korrakola Tunnel besides RMT were BSTs. Later it also became PUP and SMNs

I never see people soloing gobs in the Buru Peninsula.

Colibri camps right outside of Whitegate were once considered EXP camps, but now any jackass will just walk in and start soloing colibri, so no one can use it as a EXP camp now.

Solo consideration died when two things were implemented (1) NPC fellows and (2) BLU. And I've been levelling BST off-and-on for almost four years now, so I can attest to the differences.

Only places people won't crash are the places deemed too far out of the way.

      Ifrit's Cauldron
      Den of Rancor
      Attowah Chasm

Boyhada Tree used to be a BST paradise, but I have my doubts about that now.

I still see a lot of BSTs in Boyahda, it's such a big zone they really have plenty of room to play while skill up parties do their thing.

The latest thing now is BLM, seems that everyone wants to level their BLM now. I won't always put a search comment up when I go to xp BLM, but I'll at least have /anon off, someone who does a search can at least see that I'm there and reasonably assume that I'm soloing. I always search the zone before I go to xp. It's a total waste of time for me to go out and try to out pull someone on BLM. Other BLMs do not get this memo. It's gotten pretty frustrating, and if I run all the way to a camp only to find you soloing /anon, I'm going to be a bit irritated at you, and I will camp your mobs, if only because you couldn't be bothered to care that others might want to know your plans at solo camps so they can come get some xp, too.

There used to be a courtesy among BLMs, that no longer exists. I've been leveling it off and on for the past 10 months or so (when it doesn't frustrate the holy hell out of me, and now that I'm so close to the end I'm just trying to finish it to 75), and the dynamic between BLMs has changed. Newer BLMs won't ask you how long you're going to be there, no, they'll just steal your camp. People solo /anon so you get to run all the way to your camp and find it taken by someone you figured was AFK or not soloing on BLM. If you're soloing somewhere, lower level manaburn parties will take over your camp, and won't even ask you to level sync and join the fun. BLMs used to respect each other because we all knew it was a difficult job to level these days, but that's really changed in the past few months.

And now melees want to solo the way BLMs do, off mob pets. I'm past the pet camps now so this doesn't affect me really anymore, but I've had to compete with DRGs and DRKs who want to xp off pets, too, when they can actually get parties, and I can't.

Nin can solo tank just fine pre-37 if they use their enfeebles and gear correctly.
If by "solo tank" you mean "get hit a lot," yes.

          1) Evasion whoring and holding hate are mutually exclusive. That already rules out evasion whoring from qualifying as tanking just fine.
          2) You get more hate just swinging than you do pausing for 4 secs to cast an Ichi enfeeble to generate 300 VE.
          3) Ninjutsu skill starts out severely undercapped from 15 levels of having no enemy-targetting ninjutsu spells. The fact that casting mid-fight is a waste of time until the Ni line which for all practical purposes limits you to 1 enfeeble when the mob is coming in doesn't help. That means your enfeebles are likely to get resisted, making them an even bigger waste of time until your skill finally catches up.
          4) The mages can cast the same enfeebles anyways, and they should, since the Ichi line is a waste of time save for that one free cast you get at the beginning of the fight.
          5) It's impossible to recast Ichi with shadows down 100% of the time. At some point or another you'll fuck up, or the mob will make you fuck up by using a TP move as you're trying to recast.

That isn't to say that taking NIN to 37 isn't nearly as bad as most people think/make it out to be. I had a blast taking NIN to 37, because I performed quite well. Just pointing out that a NIN solo tanking is never "fine." Might as well get a WAR/NIN. Gets the job done just the same, and under ideal circumstances inflicts Shield Break and Acid Bolts on the mob.

You mean BLMs soloed BST pets like BSTs did. There was a time when solo BLMs were a rarity and most loved to gloat about thier inviteability. Guess who's solo guides the BLMs followed when BLMs were forced to solo?

The solo guides BSTs and DRGs wrote.

Being a melee hasn't changed, you're still out there competing for a slot with loads of other bloodthirsty melee. Since people tend to exggerate what melee is the best, plenty of DRGs and DRKs are left seeking for a while. Level Sync makes things easier, true, but the same can be said for BLM.

Soloing BST pets is going to be just as much of a skill-up sacrifice as Level Sync, really. God knows I regret doing it as much as I have on BST.

As far as I know, just about everyone who needed some solo exp went after Bst pets. I mean, heck, a decent SA as a Thf in the low 20s could normally one shot the pets.

Heck, if I'm LFG then I'm either killing Bst pets, running around digging with a chocobo, or some other useful endeavor.

Word to the wise in regards to Chocobos. You always get better stuff when you dig on top of a taru. You may scoff, but it's true! I had a super lucky taru that I was digging on top of every now and then, he got me 5 Ebony and 2 Ancient logs, I was a happy kitty =^.^=

I told him to hit me up next time he was leveling in an outdoors area :D

And Armando hit the nail on the head for why I have issues tanking as Ninja pre 37. It's not bad, it's not impossible, but... Dangit, I'd rather be throwing Shuriken inbetween swings, enfeebling the mob, and whatever else I can do to make myself useful in the party rather than be the solo tank that nobody will help out when shadows are down. I am so not looking forward to the Jungles where I will be called a noob for wanting to wear chainmail and stuff, and largely forgo the +evasion armor. I have serious issues with people recommending wearing a Federation/Windurstian Gi all the way up to a Hauby for the +evasion, and that just seems to be all the advice I am seeing given in game. So far I've stayed quiet on it when it comes up in parties, but man, I feel like I'm going to explode on the next person who seriously thinks gimping themselves is the way to go.

Solo consideration died when two things were implemented (1) NPC fellows and (2) BLU.
I rarely ever saw solo consideration, but yeah, if it wasn't dead already those two things would have been the death of it.

Heck, it tells you something if I'm looking at leveling Blu primarily to solo/farm things that I just can't on Drg (Rainbow Thread is coming up, beware spiders!) just because /thf is pretty darn useful, and mobs in different areas have different drop rates.

Well, plus Blu and Drg were my two favorite FF jobs, so it's not like it's all about Blu's soloing abilities, but that is a large factor.

And I'll close on the leveling Ninja bit...

              Leveling Ninja... Meow Hiss Grrrrrrr

Haubergeon has -20 evasion if I'm not mistaken. I don't ever think I've seen a Ninja with that on in a party(not saying there aren't any that use it, Edit: and after thinking about it, it might be a good piece for a DD NIN instead of a Tank NIN), Scorpion Harness would be a better choice IMO. However, Since my NIN wont be going past 38 I can't really comment. lol

On another note, I had to apologize to a BLM one day because I was helping a friend of mine get Wild Carrot for BLU and I didn't realize he was healing in the corner from fighting Goblin BST Pets in Bibiki Bay. What eventually happened was, the pet linked with a real rabbit and so I had to kill the pet. When I started fighting the pet rabbit i saw the guy say something like ";_;" so I apologized to him in tell after I killed the rabbit he said no problem so we went back on the other side towards the normal rabbits instead. Funny thing is I learned Wild Carrot from a pet and I got pretty nice XP from soloing them too.

It's been that way since when I leveled blm. Soloing in Sky, Sea or even buffalos in ugly range frequently resulted in rude blms trying to get a piece of your exp.

Edit: BLM leveling hit a huge surge after the rng nerf. That was a fun time to be leveling blm >.>

An old pet peeve that you've all been hearing about lately, static members who don't communicate anything.

I'm really torqued off that Ana never let us know that she wouldn't make it tonight. This is a consistent pattern with her, so I really don't think that anything happened to her, or her internet connection, or anything like that.

It is NOT ok to consistently show up late, demand to leave early, if you are only on for CoP missions it is NOT ok to leave before setting a time for the next run. The only exception to that is if your schedule is open and you can make anything, you just need a message saying what time everyone else settled on, I'm ok with that and I have done that myself, and a few other times in the static other people have done that. But for someone who is selective about what days she does CoP on, like, she can only do it on Tuesday next week, to not let us know what times she can make before she logs, that is not ok. I am not willing to try and send messages back and forth between her and 4 other people, all with conflicting schedules when we could have had this all worked out if she had stayed on for another two minutes.

I'm also torqued off that Ana was online consistently, made herself really helpful, useful, and available to us so that we choose her as Whaod's replacement. Then as soon as we help her get her Sleepga II scroll, she instantly become the total opposite of how she was before. Hard to reach, hard to talk to, never on time for anything, and we're talking about going from being on time for everything to be consistently a half hour to an hour late for events. I'm walking away from this feeling like she just used us to get her her Sleepga II scroll.

And yes, I really do think she aggroed so many of those mobs that one time so that we'd also get her her level. Maybe she didn't, but that's just what I think and wonder about given my stance on the Sleepga II scroll.

At the very least, she has fallen into the highly unreliable category. Not just that, but she didn't have the decency to let us know what nights she wouldn't be able to make, not even a warning. Her, "I'll be there for sure, 100%" was just another way of asking, "Do you feel lucky?". It's that attitude that really gets me mad. Have the decency not to waste other people's time, because we DO expect you to show up when you said you would, or to let us know if you can't.

Shit happens and sometimes you can't, and I won't hold that against someone, but I felt like we were getting blown off since we weren't convenient to her.

At some point, I want to get into Limbus/Nyzul and other stuff, I want to do the RoZ/ToAU missions, and it's for all of the above that I will not work with her again ever for some scheduled event. Or if I do, she'll have an unimportant role that we can function without.

I may be willing to still help her with things, but I will NEVER tie my schedule to hers again. She's got alot of work to prove how reliable she can be before I will even consider it.

I've been lurking these forums for awhil now, thought i might aswell post something, sorry it it rambles on abit.

Well my pet peeve are players who like to act like jerks and are bitchy especially when they're the party leader.

I was in a party last night wanting to lvl my mule (who has no sub) to make her a lil more useful than a pack mule. I got a party invite and ended up in a dd party since there were no healers available. The leader had a PL with her so we thought it was alright also I had my bf there who was lvl 75 rdm (he likes to stalk me in game). The leader seemed quite a nice person at first but I turned out to be wrong. We were deciding what would be best to fight whilst she went around attacking everything in sight to see if we could take them. I suggested doing lizzies since i was lvl 11, but found my self being ignored. Since I got no reply I asked again to which the party leader replied "NO COS THEY'RE TOO WEAK FOR US", I said "ok then >.>" I mention this since it was after this she started to be abit hostile towards me. Her friend /slap me which she seemed to get a kick out of other things happened too.

Well we settled with killing crabs since we lvl synced to lvl 12. She was demanding that my bf give her haste and join in PL which got her annoyed since he said no. All was going good though in party till I got a random /tell off her to which the convo went like this:

PT Leader: I have someone coming to rep you
                                Osanpo: wha? why?
                                PT Leader: Friend
PT Leader: I dunno what your prob is you got apron and exp
Osanpo: I would like to get to lvl 18 to get my sub
PT Leader: Well that's not my problem

I was so furious I left the party >

An old friend who was in the party also left when he heard what happened and we duoed together and both lvled which cheered me up abit.

Also if she just did that just because I was subless then that's another pet peeve: people who can't be nice and help others. I've put up nasty people in the past but that's first time someones made me so angry.

                                rant over >.>
