To say the Bradygames guide is extremely outdated is not only an understatement, it doesn't paint the whole picture. The Bradygames guide was flawed and obsolete from the very day it was released. You have no idea how much damage it caused the NA player population. It made WAR out to be a mediocre job that's only useful as a sub job, and claimed that BSTs penalize the party's EXP. Those "facts" got around very quickly and dealt fatal blows to both jobs. The stigma wouldn't pass for years.

It's also the origin of the expression "2004 is that way ->."

Honestly, don't forget about that "atlas" they put out which everyone was excited about too. It turned out to be about as informative as the average in-game mentor ~.~.

Dear gawd no. Have you ever played Phantasy Star Universe on the 360? That game alone is why there should NEVER be voice support on an MMO. Have you ever had some stuck up endgame player scream at you for an entire [insert rare item here] run just because your [insert skill here] isn't capped? People got exactly like that with mages on PSU if thier spells weren't capped. Now imagine actually having to listen to the person yelling at you over voice chat. And hearing people's reactions to you not being there to heal the second they take damage and woe betide you if they die.

It's convenient sure but I'd rather sacrifice a bit of convenience for my asprin bills soaring because of someone screaming down his mic at me because he lost a bit of exp or someone isn't matching his elitist expectations.

I never really thought much about it but you raise a very good point. I use vent on PC and there is very very little of that type of behavior but, then again, its all ls members and they try to behave.....somtimes. LOL A vent type atmosphere for a party of people that have no behavioral restrictions would be like driving a railroad spike through my temple. My insurance only allows 9 migraine pills a month so {No, thanks.}.

So cool to see that one pet peeve can cause such a discussion. So...Brady no good...then what is? I prefer having a book with me, since this will keep the pages in the right order for me, but I will deaf in italy check out this FFXIClopidea thingy...thanks guys!!

You can use Brady, but don't take everything it says as gospel. Some of the stuff, like the quests for unlocking advanced jobs, are pretty well done. Some of the quest info is accurate, as well, though naturally being 4 years old, it doesn't have all of them. The bestiaries are pretty decent as well, and I used them as a reference for mob levels and aggro patterns for a long time.

If you do like to have something next to you, best bet is to find the page you need on the wiki and print it out. I have a lot of those, too, until I started using Windower and just started tabbing out to look everything up.

I wouldn't trust Brady as gospel, but some of the info actually is useful.

When I first started I got the guide along with the game and spent the first few days (couldn't get the game running, needed new graphics cards) reading through it to try and get a better understanding of how things worked. And even before I started playing I could tell the job listings and descriptions were horribly wrong.

But for low lvls, the quest info is golden, the mission help is great, it's a nice way to start crafting and it helps with some newbie monster behavior patterns. It's a nice "at-a-glance" thing for new players, but not something that should be your only source of info.

Came out to sea with 4 Euhvi organs and everything else needed to get a Relaxing Earring...9 hours and counting and not a single organ drop, this is absolutely ridiculous.

I just logged in, get a new set of allied tags as there is a Campaign battle going on and instantly die as Shadoweye Gnats show up and tear right through me.

PISSED OFF AKSANNYI STORY TIME: (Cross posted on BG for max exposure, lol)

Huge picture coming, cropped as much as I could without ruining the idiocy.

1. Get a blind invite from a NIN. Hell, have 3 hours till Dynamis, I can get at least halfway to 62 on my WAR.
2. WHM, NIN, and THF barely speak English. (Elf = WHM, Rosss = THF, Xwin = NIN)
3. We decide on a camp, some of us start heading there. Seeing as this is a level 60+ party, I assume (like most would) that people know the way, and that they have adequate sneak/invis capabilities. NOTICE WHERE I MONOMI AND TONKO MYSELF, ZOMG A NOVEL CONCEPT.
4. THF takes a while to zone to Al Zhabi. This, naturally, means that unnecessary calls are in order, right? No warning given, just <CALL> blasted into my fucking eardrums. Can't totally get angry about that, most don't mind calls, but we had seriously JUST become 6/6 like a minute before that.
5. Three of us get to the camp (Me, a DRK, and a SAM) and we're still waiting on the WHM, NIN, and THF, who are wondering were the rest of us were. The DRK and SAM had their own chocobos and rode there, and I smartly sneak/invis'ed myself there. The THF begs for Sneak/Invis. WHM tells the THF he only needs sneak. THF somehow makes it past shit w/o aggro, WHM doesn't.
6. WHM dies. WHM does not have RR (FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL), NIN apparently vokes to save the WHM but the WHM dies anyway, then the NIN dies.
7. WHM gets pissed. Because HE didn't know that tigers are sight aggro? Because HE couldn't find his way to a very easy to get to camp?
8. I leave, fed up with the idiots before even getting to the camp, assured that the party will fail.

I realize I could have just said my peeve was STUPID PEOPLE but that significantly lowers the humor content of it all.
