You don't get lag using a controller on PC?

I already tried that and it's exactly the same for me. Plus I hated every moment I was trying to play with a controller.

At least that's how it is for me. It's like it doesn't register Alt or Ctrl being pressed till some time has passed. And the more stuff is going on on the screen the more laggy it gets, but it always takes some time to register regardless.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I don't have "macro lag". I might have general overall lag on occasion but I've never noticed this problem.

I play on the 360 and you can notice it there too. When I use the controller it pops up instantly. However I have had my controller die at the most inconvenient times and tried to use the keyboard. It has that lag from pressing CTRL or ALT there as well.

Funny thing about the macro from PC; you can activate the macro before the macro pallet appear on screen.

1. Press and hold <ctrl> key.
2. Press and release <0> key.
3. Release <ctrl> key.

Do it fast enough and you will activated the <ctrl>-0 macro before the pallet appear on the screen, even under no-lag condition.

That said, if you need to see the macro pallet to remind yourself which set you're in and to hit the right macro, a controller is the way to go. Even on a PC.

I use the PC client exclusively, and switched from "keyboard only" for macros to "controller only" two years ago. If performed flawlessly, keyboard macro is faster--but every mistake will cost quite a bit of time; I can't even begin to recount how many times I try to activate a macro in laggy condition but only succeeded in inputing a '1' or something into the chat/command buffer. Controller is far more difficult to make mistakes with, at least for me.

Ifrit: Not really the issue here. Basically, if Ctrl/Alt and the number are pressed too close to the same time, and how close is allowable seems to change depending on uncertain circumstances, the sequence is simply ignored. Sometimes you can fire off the macro no problem before the macro panel even appears. Sometimes even if you hit the number a few moments after the panel appears it still doesn't register. The problem is especially apparent when trying to use multiple macros in quick succession, but it happens on its own as well.

It seems to happen a bit less frequently with the controller, but firing some macro sequences quickly with the controller can be tricky, and in some conditions even a controller-entered macro will simply fail to go off. The panel still comes up, and goes away when you hit the button, but the macro isn't executed.

In some cases I've taken to firing off macros twice just to be sure one of the attempts registers.

I have soloed most of Windy, but 8-1 I can't. I just can't do that pull. The mob, sure. Easy to solo, hard to pull. If I could fight it where it is without aggro, sure thing. But I can't. I need at least one other person to help, and I can't fucking find anyone. Except the 50k guy. Fuck him.

Then him and my son have something in common! <insertswearinghere>.....One of my pet peeves is people with binds on vent that abuse them. Seriously do we have to hear "Right square bracket, left square bracket, right square bracket, left square bracket, right square bracket, left square bracket,...." over and over for 10 minutes?? And no I'm NOT exaggerating. My son has several annoying binds like that and he did them over and over for 10 minutes one night. So I had a talk with him and said "You know for 30 seconds...tops 1 minute thats funny. After that not so much." He rolled his eyes. Next night......same shit. I logged out and had people /t'ing asking me to get back on. I said {No, thanks.} and left it at that. Later he messaged me and said "You should be on vent. OMG <insertnamehere> is on and we are just cracking up!" I messaged him back and said "I would get on vent but some douche keeps playing his bindings OVER AND OVER AND OVER even after I nicely asked him to stop." He didn't reply back. LOL

Ugh yeah, binds are funny when used sparingly and at the right moment. I have one that says "eat shit" and one that says "penis."
