emergency maintenance after 10 hours of down time...

5 years you would think that SE could get there updates right. This is pet peeve that I have for sure about the FFXI. I have played other MMO's and they update everyday with patches as you sign in and not like the mass suicide of time we have, plus the fixes for the bugs they introduce.

I would add to this to my 'pet peeve' is there no clear cut instructions, hints or new documentation on the things that come out or outright change. 1 OCR list 1 line "New missions" does not cut it. More then one person yesterday was frustrated by the lack of anything in game to tell you where new things where or even a 'hint' that there was new things. If SE is not going to make guides on the out side of game then they need to beef up the NPC's story line so everyone does not have to read the 'web' to figure out the game. I would even take a Brady guide at this point then having to read notes from the forums.

Sorry I know thats a huge pet peeve but its been building for 5 years now.

Pet Peeve #8790: When someone casts a spell on me when I'm standing right next to the Campaign NPC during a Campaign Battle.

If I'm standing right next to the NPC and facing the NPC, chances are, I'm talking to the NPC. To purchase a temp item, I have to wade through 3 levels of menu options with a lot of lag. That Protect you just cast on me cancelled my NPC conversation, which does not make me a happy camper.

Tebian, you have to consider that these problems are much much more SE's refusal to improve their download process than anything else.

The downtime and emergency maintenance are just fine. I'd rather them take some time and fix things ASAP than just sit on them until next time.

The downtime is really rather small when you consider that their servers are almost certainly showing their age (not just the hardware, but the software as well) , and you compare it to other games. EVE online, for example, goes down for 30-60 minutes every day for server maintenance, and that isn't even as annoying as it sounds.

I'm pretty sure /blockaid doesn't stop spells from being cast on you if you have allied tags on. I recall trying to have /blockaid up in the past so I could cast Cure on myself for points during campaign battle, and still had others able to cast Cure on me.

I'll have to test it out tonight.

Edit: Just confirmed that /blockaid will NOT prevent spells from being cast on you during Campaign Battles.

The new "star" rating of Campaign Ops is the most RETARDED thing they implemented in this expansion, thus far. Making the ones no one does rated higher isn't going to make people go do them, They don't do them because there's a high chace of death and it's not worth it for the time spent/reward given. This star rating thing is not going to change anything, if anything, it screwed over the casual player who uses easier ops to get some AN for rank ups. Now I'm not the casual player, but I'm not going to risk my butt to go kill an NM on RDM, which is a job that doesn't need the XP in the first place.

That's the point. I can level up gimpy jobs that I don't care to take through the Dunes (saving me the hassle of retards). Now if I want to do Ops, I have to take out either of my 75 jobs, neither of which need the XP reward from the operation. It sucks.
