I'm using <stpc> and a lot of keyboard shortcuts at the moment and I don't lose target because of gear swap blinking often but it does happen and I would really like to get rid of it.

I went trawling on forums and found people using
      /ta <stpc>
      /ma "Cure" <lastst>

with the idea being that the top line gives you a cursor that doesn't flick off someone who blinks because of a gear swap but when a friend and I went to test it out it failed miserably. I haven't been in game long enough to try it out but the only thing I can think of is that perhaps a target other than <stpc> in the /ta line will fix this problem or am I missing something different and probably really basic?

A technical manual for this kind of thing would be really nice ><
I'm not sure why you're having trouble. I've been using /target <stpc>, then misc. gear swaps, then /ma "Spell" <lastst> for years with no problems. :/

My advice would be to copy and paste your macros here. It's probably pebkac.

          No doubt.

Mass Edit: O.k just to make sure that I have this right and I'm asking the right question

/target <stpc> (looking for something that doesn't lose target if a blink occurs before you hit return on this line)
(I know that if a blink occurs in here you don't lose target)
          /ma "Cure" <lastst>

Except of course that you don't need quotation marks around the single word cure, but you know that. But otherwise, yes.

Yeah sorry, automatic thing so I don't forget to do it where you do need them.

What fails is that you hit the macro, you select the person to target and if they blink before you hit enter to confirm them as your target (and let the rest of the macro run and cure them) you lose the target select on them. I was under the impression from what I have be reading that there is a way to avoid this.

Honestly, the main reason I've used it is to keep myself from losing target when I blink. Because for every spell I change something or another. I still don't have any problems targeting others who blink, but maybe I've just been really lucky? You can always do those <p1> <p2> or name related macros if absolutely necessary, but man are those a bitch.

Usually I'm fast enough to target and hit enter before a blink, it's not happening often enough to be a major problem so I guess it's possible that you are just faster and/or luckier? I don't know to be honest >< Ew for those <p1> type macros, way too much room.

I tend to swap a lot too and I haven't noticed that I lose target because I've swapped but possibly because at the moment I've been almost always swapping my gear after I initiate the spell. I need to work out a new setup (some new gear and better understanding of where cast/recast is calculated and where potency is calculated) which will involve more swapping before I start casting a spell so perhaps it will start to be an issue.

People who aren't honest about the help they need.

"Hey, can you help me distract the orcs near the Banishing Wall so I can get through?" does not mean "Hey, can you help me do all of G3?" I was in Davoi, near the area, and agreed to help this Paladin get through (even though, with a proper understanding of sight aggro and a little patience, I wouldn't even be needed. But this guy didn't actually mean what he asked, and instead figured I had nothing better to do than help some random do his entire Genkei 3.

Turns out that I did have something better to do. Poor him!

I know weve hashed this one to death, but Jeezus-loueeezus!!!

I'm clearly crafting/farming whatever as I'm 10+ levels above the leveling range for where I'm at.

And here come the /tells - Was doing the Chocobo Quest with a friend in Jeuno and I got like 9 invites in 30 mins. All Blind.

The Best is a blind invite to PL a party - WUT?!

Dying without Reraise up while fighting Campaign Battle in (La Vaule [S]).

I was going to get at least 1.5k+ xp and a good amount of notes for sure. But guess that's the price I have to pay for having the entire (Campaign battle) to myself.

Not to mention it's always fun even if I didn't get any notes.

                            Still.... ouch.

I've spent the last 9 months in my current LS focusing on pretty much 1 goal: shaping up their Dynamis runs enough to get us to Xarc so that I can get my hat. I was at 4/5 for months before I even joined the shell, I've seen nearly 200 city and glacier AF drop that did nothing for me, but we finally scheduled our first ever Xarc run for this weekend!

                              But then...

The LS leader and another officer both have to be out of town on Sunday, they both have weddings to go to, so no Xarc. But wait! We can do it Thursday, and all of our members that normally run with another Dynamis LS on Thursdays agreed to skip that run to come help with our first ever Xarc, we're back in business!

                              But then...

The aforementioned other LS went ahead and scheduled a Xarc run on top of ours. They're a much larger LS, and the members who we share with them have already said that they will not take part in us bumping from the zone, even though our run is scheduled for an hour earlier than theirs. And of course none of their officers are on today for our LS leader to talk things out with...so it looks like we get to put Xarc off another week at the least. Non-instanced Dynamis needs to die.
