Wow that sucks Callisto... I know I was in around 6-7 CoP statics before I finally beat it and it drove me up a damn wall.

As far as helping people I do that all the time and if your not careful people begin to think that somehow you owe them this help just because your capable of it. I have no problem helping peeps, but I got things I want to do / need help with so it needs to be a give and take. Not take, take, take.

The worst part is now I get to do CoP all over again, lol. It looked like she had a static that would be able to go through it without me needing to be there for every single mission...not that I mind helping her, but muling for different capped gear every weekend sucks.

And I'll still stick with my line of, if you expect a Smn to main heal, then it's fair game for a Blm to main heal.

The only issue here is that SMN does the main healing thing because it's not useful enough for main-job-based purposes in XP situations for most of its career. BLM, by contrast, is not broken -- yes, traditional parties have fallen my the wayside due to anti-BLM mobs being preferred, but not only does the basic concept still function, but BLMs are also capable of two types of soloing plus a party type all their own. SMN never had a place to begin with; only MP/WHM did.

In short, there is no reason why a BLM should have to stoop to main healing (backup healing is another matter, and just a matter of being a team player); they have plenty of places to walk away to. There aren't equally compelling alternatives to main healing for a SMN -- unless you count the unannounced change to how they work in Campaign that may or may not last.

And before you accuse me of being a SMN hater, I want SMN to be given more party use. Elemental Syphon was a good start. -- Pteryx

On the subject of CoP statics, mine never does anything. The guys in charge wanted to rush it, and a personal problem of mine screwed up the last part of our 4-3 run. Our leader keeps cancelling the CoP runs because he's never feeling good (he needs to learn how to take care of his health, seriously) and will intentionally sleep because ONE MEMBER is up all day. Of course, he's not taking into account the rest of the people that only have a limited time. Plus, he has a habit of saying "Meh" that gets on my last nerve.

On the topic of CoPs:

OK, I've finally completed these twice for my characters. I've honestly done them enough to have gotten Sea access like five times now, but technically only have gotten it twice.

I actually updated my little CoP thread with the incident, but I'll review it here.

So I've been on Aniero's back about getting CoPs, oh, forever. He can't static, his job makes it nigh impossible since his schedule is completely random sometimes, so what we've basically done is take a lot of LBR mods and staff on Odin to push him through. So about 2/3rd of whatever group we put together, four of us have been there and done it all usually.

But its just amazing how two other inexperienced players that don't listen drag the whole thing down for you.

We had these two BLMs for Mithran Trackers. Husband and Wife team. Usually that's good sign to me, but neither of them ever listened.

I lay out the Erecia's Guide/FFXIclopedia strategy. Right to left (Y, Z, X) after laying down the initial sleep. I told the BLMs to focus on the NIN's pull (Y) after Sleepga.

They, in turn, proceed to Freeze Shikaree Z after we've already pulled Shikaree Y.

After we wipe, they accuse me of not giving them the strategy, which if funny, because I did give them the strategy.

We try again, I explain the strategy again. They say "I've never heard of this strategy" even though the claimed to have "helped" with it several times. Then the suggest doing the super tank strategy from Divine might.

Um... no, just do the standard strategy.

We try again, Hubby BLM seems skittish about Sleepga-ing the mithra. NIN volunteers to aggro them so he can get a clean sleep on them. He stalls for 20 seconds after aggro and she dies in the center of the BC.

Of course his "macros weren't working" this time.

We exit.

I go over the strategy again.

We get Sleepga off this time, we pull Shikaree Y.

The BLMs don't nuke.

We wipe.

They HP. At this point, I'm glad, becuase they were totally fucking useless. Last static I led got this on the second try. These knuckleheads just made it a nightmare.

Another part of the staff needed CoP 8-3 and 8-4. I did too, so I joined up with her. We get this really mouthy, bossy RDM. Total backseat driver, thinking he was Altana's Gift to Vana'diel.

I suggest a dry run for the pot fight. Most of use knew the strategy, but since this one can get pretty hairy, we wanted the people who weren't familiar with it to know what they were in for.

RDM raises a stink about it. Insisting this was an easy fight.

This coming from the guy who died like four times getting his key items for the fight and the very last to make it to the BC. I got this invite to the mission before I had mine done and I breezed right through it, getting all the items in about 30 mins. We waited an extra hour for him.

Anyway, we do the second run of the Pot Fight by the usual strategy. Two hour down the BLM Pots, Wipe, recover, take down the RDM pots. We win.

RDM was totally patting himself on the back, like he had led us to that big victory or something. Nah, we were actually trying to replace him, but the replacement had gone AFK and fallen asleep.

Well Feba since I'm not into torrenting, I can't get XP on this machine right now, not without doing something illegal.

I'll be back on my PC in a few weeks anyway, it's just annoying. Let me bitch for christ's sake. XD

I highly doubt that. Most people have a spare XP license sitting around, have a friend with one, or can afford to buy one. There's also the fact that some versions of Vista can be downgraded.

Well since I have 90 cents to my name right now (at least till tomorrow), there's no buying for me. And I just moved, so finding anything around is going to be difficult.

For basic internet and whatnot, Vista is fine and I don't mind it. I actually kind of like it. It's just when I'm using the laptop for FFXI that it annoys me because I never have that d/c issue with XP that I do in Vista. And since using my laptop for FFXI really is temporary, I just want to whine about it for a few more days.

Why do people think it's perfectly okay to just voke a mob after I've pulled my sword on it and started casting Dia III, what the hell people why do you have to be douchebags!?!?!?
