Sorry did not mean to take thread off track, but I do still welcome all the kids even without their parents. According to the "real rules" that SE setup the game should be okay for most of them but we all know how online life is and the "real world" is not so nice at times.

Back to pet peevs...

Thats why SE put in auto translate to communite through the communication barrier, you dont need that much communication to do your job in a party, even if you want to set up a skillchain its all in auto translate.

I think they are just being stingy.

Over the years I have had lot of families in the ls and there kids with them. Youngiest was twin brothers age 8 and they where to funny as players. I even wrote into my ls rules at the time there was to be no giving out of age on our chat. OMG, there has been more fights over that rule then you can imagine. )

Oh I CAN imagine, I'd be one of the first to fight you on it! I'm an adult and I'll tell someone my age if they ask and no silly rule will stop that. It's not up to you to police the internet and teach young ones the ins and outs, that is their parents domain. Ignore the young ones and let the parents of the "families" that join your ls do the parenting. If you feel they need a lesson or two, then take the parent in private and express your concerns.

Final note over the 4 years, 3 of the kids on my ls got yanked from game by parents cause of "sexual" advancements to them.

This is beyond disturbing.

Our Linkshell on Remora Cosmic enigma is for adults only 18+ before we implemented this change we had people of various ages amongst us. The reason we have the age limit is to protect minors from things which may be seen in ls chat, granted we arent perverts but many of us are parents and censor ourselves all day the linkshell is where we cut loose. We dont exclude younger players at all we help everybody and if they are too young to recieve a CE pearl then they get a CE junior one instead.

And how do you police your apps for age? I can't see any way that you could be 100% certain a person was over 18. I believe there was a shell on my server that was all women. Guess what happened? People lied and there were some men in it. I'm confident that some youngsters will make it their mission to get into a shell thats deemed only 18+ just for the bragging rights. I know I would!

I feel badly for the poor adult sap that monitors the "junior" shell! LOL You do have adult supervision in the underage shell right? And I hope its very carefully screened so no adult sicko gets in it.

Both "age appropriate" shells sound like a lot more stress than they are worth.


My current pet peeve is GREED. I won't go into details but some people really need to reavaluate their outlook because they are delusional if they think they are being fair.

I do not about all of your response, it does seem kinda over the top, but the shell I run is family oriented and of the 150 or that are in it most even like the rules setup for the kids. Yep we do not even use words that are in the language filter. Game is played many ways by many different people from all over the word. Also to include the religious people we do not talk god or those topics either.

I guess I am offended, ,moderator or not, I think your response kinda out of place in this good conversation about pet peeve's about the "game" not "me or my ls". I am new to these forums so I really do not know what to say now on here if this is from the guy who "tells ppl what do" on here.

Btw I have 10 "poor sap" officers that do the policy keeping on the ls and they love there ls work.

I think you are a bit too sensitive. People don't always agree with your views on a forum, moderator or not. As a parent, I believe its not your job to police what my children do so I think your age rule is unnecessary. So we disageee, there's nothing wrong with that. I asked a valid question about how you know what age people are that join your ls but you didn't answer. I would think this is an impossible task since people lie and would just be more stress than its worth to do it. As a young person, I would be offended to be put in a "kids" linkshell and lie my way into the main linkshell or find another.

People have opinions and questions, thats part of life. We don't always agree but we can agree to disagree. If I took everything that was said about me personally over the years, I'd definately have a LOT more grey hair than I do!

When you leave one endgame (sky) linkshell, and get shunned by the people in the Dynamis linkshell because you left the sky linkshell (and ... joined another one whose rules I like better) . Just because I don't want to do sky with you guys anymore doesn't mean that I'm going to stop being a good player in Dynamis. It also doesn't mean that I should no longer be welcome in the Dynamis shell. People move on, it happens. A lot.

People need to grow up. I know that I'm not perfect and part of the reason I left is the issues I had with some members but I left to avoid further drama and not create it. People are creating drama where there really doesn't need to be any.

I don't want to leave my Dynamis shell but if people can't just let it go that might be the next step, which blows because of all the hard work I've put into it. But people have to get all butt-hurt about someone leaving like dropping my pearl was like breaking an engagement.

2 ; people still wearing santa outfit, seriously how cheap is that!!! In the dunes I'll let you off but beyond that you'll feel my foot as I kick your ass.

I'm not an elitist or blue box nazi but the time it took you messing around to get your xmas event gear you could have farmed a few beehive chips and got some decent gear that you can use on other jobs also.

Granted the +1 santa stuff has some nice effects but to increase the effect of selbina milk you have to use that food/drink.

To answer your question like many linkshells we use Ventrillo to talk on voice chat and then others use the 360 tag list we keep. Like said I am new to the forums and not prepared to be flamed for something I considered pretty fundamental way a run played the game since they started the North American version. I welcome opposing views on forums or I would not be and enjoy your group.

If you want discussion on this I think we should make different thread and not disrupt this one. Personally I know I lot more linskshells that have rules about age then I do ones the just run wild. I have run mine since first week the Sylph server started. Sorry to the person who started the thread.

I'm a person who loves a good screaming cursefest when I'm pissed, and I also have a soft spot for jokes that are in bad taste. However, if I know that someone in my shell objects to this, or I have a younger person in my shell, I will simply take the shell off, or rant to someone in /tells. All it takes for peaceful cohabitation between age groups is respect and understanding from both groups, and while I enjoy guilds/linkshells I've been in that have been exclusively 18+, some of my best friends in games have been younger people (not that at 22 I'm an old fogie myself, mind you). In particular, my absolute best friend on FFXI, until she was forced to quit, was a 16 year old. Age does not matter, in my opinion, but maturity. I've known plenty of "adults" who I will not socialize with at all, simply because they're immature little asshats.

And to be on topic; I hate when people run around Jeuno/Whitegate with low HP. It makes me want to change to WHM if I'm not on them and follow them, curing until they're at 100%.

Big pet peeve is GM's and what they not do. You can go as far as making ls with some one's char name in it to harass them and they will do nothing. Sexual harasement will get you one thing "Put them on your blacklist" been there done that call. Yes I respect GM's big time, even had one at my "weird" ls's party once but have say you only get their wrath if you curse you brains out.

I'm a bit annoyed that my expansion still hasn't arrived (thanks, Amazon), but I didn't pay for express shipping, and I can't play during the weekdays anyway, so I guess it's not that big an issue.
