Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
Less of a peeve, more of a rant:
Winningest day evar so far. Last night our cable went out for 5 hours thanks to Comcast's wonderful service. My g/f convinced me to watch a movie with her instead of camping out staring at the modem waiting for signs of internet for the entire night, I'm still not quite sure how she roped me into it.
I take FFXI out of my 360, put her movie in. It was Pirates of the Carribean, I'll admit it was actually an entertaining movie which furthered my man-crush on Orlando Bloom. Anyways, movie ends, and I see that our cable is back on. I take the disc out and go to put FFXI back in so that I can go camp out to get my Assault tag as soon as I get home today. G/f gives me the 'you aren't really going to play now are you?'; I know better than to walk into that one so I say 'Of course not, dear!', put the FFXI disc down, close the tray, turn off the 360, and go to bed.
I wake up this morning, and decide to try for my tag so that I don't hold our Nyzul group up an extra day. I reset the modem/router, everything appears to be in order, so I pop the Open button on the 360.
And nothing.
I try again, nothing. The disc tray won't budge. I pop off the front cover to see if I can get a grip on it and tug a bit. I can't of course, so I try a butter knife. No go, the disc tray is officially stuck for good. Now I get to send it in to MS and wait 3 weeks to get it back, and of course this is one of the few weeks where I actually had really promising plans ingame, I was going to get g/f through the Promies and I would be almost assured to finally get my W.Legs on Friday since we're likely to have enough trigs for 3 Kirins. But, I figure I'll worry about it later since I can still be on time to work if I left right then.
Of course, the whole 1.2 inches of snow that fell last night throws all of the drivers into a frenzy, because they've never seen snow before IN FUCKING CHICAGO, and it takes me twice as long to get to work as it normally does. I of course get yelled at for being late, and it appears that we are out of coffee until tomorrow.
Morals of the story:
1) Don't trust women, they're evil and will break your 360
2) Don't trust Johnny Depp movies, they're evil and will break your 360.
3) Don't trust Microsoft, they're evil and will sell you a broken 360.
4) Don't trust Comcast, they're evil and will sell you broken internet to plug into your broken 360.
5) If you see more than 1.1 inches of snow on the ground, just call into work. They won't have any fucking coffee anyways.
