I don't even know how to qualify such stupidity .... just ... wow. We were discussing this RDM in my party who didn't refresh me once ... except when we were resting, and this guy in my LS was telling me why that wasn't so terrible.

We started off with just me and 5 DD, I was out of MP after 3 fights (no /nin on flies = BAD!) and so we got the RDM to lessen downtime. Big mistake. Anyway the conversation in LS was lol-worthy.

yes RDM has the spell refresh.... but mages also need to eat their cookies or pies, and rest when MP is low. Its not the RDM only priority to keep your MP up.

but yeah, that RDM just sounded like someone who was carried through their levels.

People who tell you how to play your job for you, or those who abuse "newer" players.

Also people who play new jobs like old jobs, for instance, Dancer. People trying to tell my sister (now a 71 DNC) that she should gear it (like a THF), even though they're vastly different jobs, and they went as far as to say CHR is worthless for DNC and that she's wasting her time with CHR gear when all she needs is haste and accuracy, which benefits DNC "more" than CHR gear. (Even though its painfully obvious she macros in CHR + -enmity gear for cures.)

In this conversation is one of my pet peeves, "there shouldn't have been downtime with a refresher...." Ok, I'm not a miracle worker and yes I run out of mp. It's usually in specific parties where melee don't sub nin and then stack abilities and need massive curing every fight. Yes, rdm's are pretty darn spectactular but sometimes there's downtime even when we are in a party and its usually not our fault.

Well I can agree with you on that one. But the problem with this particular party was, the RDM was supposed to reduce it, if only a little. He didn't. The downtime was EQUAL to what it was before we invited him because I burned just as much MP while he was casting Banish II (yes, Banish II) and not giving me a Refresh (or at least helping with cures).

Bottom line: before RDM: 3 fights, MP gone, rest to full. After RDM: 3 fights, MP gone, rest to full. It was ridiculous, and for this other dude in LS to sit there and tell me and another 75 RDM that Refreshing a WHM was superfluous was just completely assinine, especially given the party makeup and the reason we invited the guy in the first place.

This isn't really directed at you, TGM, I'm just still peeved about it tbh. Never have I seen a RDM that was so freaking stupid and worthless when it came to party dynamics. Just really crawled up my ass I guess. XD

So the RDM did not refresh whore like you though they would? did you ever think to ask them to cast it more? because by your pics, it does not seem so.

So many problems can be fixed, by asking.

Umm.....
1) rdms find that annoying
2) rdm should be able to effectively cast without being told do
3) rdms won't last long if they don't remember 2
4) asking isn't an option <,..,<

Well that was LS chat, not party. So that doesn't show what went on in party at all. I showed only what was said in LS, by someone who wasn't even in the party. You see that most of the LS members agreed that I should have had refresh, except that guy.

And for the record, I did ask the rdm for refresh, and I was ignored.

Yep been there too. Was leveling my whm in Valley of Sorrows (I believe thats the area) on the big birds and we didn't have a rdm. The downtime was a killer so they finally found one and I was elated. Ya...shouldn't have counted my chickens before they hatched. The guy got there and he barely did anything but one thing he did was totally ignored refresh. I watched him and he cast 4 spells in 10 fights and they were debuffs. I asked in party several times for refresh and got it once. I /t'd the party leader and told him the downtime wasn't my fault and that he needed to have a talk with the rdm since he was ignoring me. The leader msg'd me back and said he had talked to him and was looking for a replacement.

I have lost my temper in this game twice in all the years I played and this was one of them. I said my piece in party chat about how absolutely useless he was and the rdm came back with "I'm sorry but I'm balling my eyes out over here. My g/f just broke up with me." Man did I feel like an a**........well that was until he mt'd into party chat about 5 minutes later "ya they totally bought the g/f excuse! lol"

One of the most common pet peeves among the player base: people who tell them how to play their job. Yes, I'm sure asking the RDM to refresh you more often would have gone over really well.

There are some things that you just shouldn't have to ask of people. You shouldn't have to ask a tank to Provoke. You shouldn't have to ask DDs to auto-attack. You shouldn't have to ask a RDM to refresh the main healer.
