Pet Peeve = myself.

I have two reactions to this.

First, taking your time is a good thing! It's frustrating now, but all this preparatory mumbo jumbo is good for you in the long run, and you'll be glad you did it once you get through to the higher-ish levels.

Second, totally. I'm really starting to piss me off. This game would be so much easier if I had decent short-term memory and/or sense of direction, or weren't so easily distracted, or could bring myself to just freaking level already.

Before you read my pet peeves know that I don't hate any people who do/don't do the following things, I just sometimes get annoyed with them.

1. When people use the translator with people who speak the same language as them.

2. When people never put any kind of emotion into what they say. I'm not asking you to have perfect grammar or spelling (I know I'm not too bright grammar wise) I'm just asking for a smiley or angry face. Maybe even an exclamation mark?

3. People who can't have an actual conversation in a LS. It's even more annoying when all they do is ask for a PL. -_-; It's so irritating being in an LS based on conversation when 75% of the people don't know how to say "and how was your day?".

Hopefully no one is offended.^^ I'm positive someone has complained about my personality in their pet peeves, haha. Don't blame 'em.

Think of the auto-translate as humorous.. (Looking For)(Notorious Monster), (little)(notorious monster)(aggro), or something else is much better than I need to check on my kid.

I use the auto translate for small things like Congratulations and Hello and so on even if I know you speak English. It's just faster and it is in English so what is the difference if I type Hello or you see {Hello!}? Looks and means the same to me. LOL

I also use the auto translate if I'm sent a /t in auto translate. I do not assume the person knows English so out of respect I use it until I see them not using it. But I will fess up and say that when I'm leveling a low level job, I use the auto translate in parties. I have been in way too many low level parties that some new player wants equips/money/p-l'ing/etc from me. As soon as they know I speak English I get a Friend's List invite and regardless if I accept it or not they remember my name and I get beseiged with /t's after that. So sometimes...auto translate FTW!!

I use the auto translate for names and stuff even with people I know speak English but it's a slight pet peeve of mine when people spam {Congratulations!} especially when it's followed by 'what happened lol'. People use it so much I think it can come across as insincere.

I still use auto translate for congratulations if it's something minor but if someone has done something fairly big and I'm not very busy I try and congratulate them properly.

(WARNING RANT AHEAD!) Seriously, wait until you are done leveling for the day and say in ls "Wow, I got 3 levels on DNC today!" and then you'll get a {Congratulations!} but if you go "Ding! 54DNC/27NIN!"....... "Ding! 55DNC/27NIN!" ............."Ding! 56DNC/28NIN!" every time you level over and over multiplied by how ever many other people are in the ls doing the same thing over and over and then watching 20 -30 people saying {Congratulations!} every single time someone posts they level there is just no way that I can add to that spam and I feel like pulling out my hair and throwing something at the cat................ GGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

I hate this too. Someone in my ls was skilling up and posted every time he got a skill level. Someone else was posting the chain number after every fight because he was excited it was his first time chain 30+ >< People who do this sort of thing start getting pointed teasing/comments fairly quickly.

Same thing from the other side really, I don't use {Congratulations!} for everything because it's used so much it doesn't really mean anything anymore. Saying {Congratulations!} without something else with it to a friend who just completed CoP or went 1/35 on an NM feels a bit....dismissive.

After I made my post about my feelings on Congratulations, I remembered an issue in one of my ls's. There were a couple of people that would do the DING I LEVELED crap into ls and expected people to congratulate them every level. They also would do it for every little thing and expect people to acknowledge them. If people didh't say hi to them when they logged on/off they would make some nasty/sarcastic comment about no greeting. There was actually a huge dramafest over the hello/goodbye issue that they started. So another pet peeve of mine........................................... ATTENTION WHORES!!

Well, there is a difference between being an attention whore, and wanting a bit of interaction with your LS mates. If I logged on and said hello only to be met with silence, I'd be a bit bothered. And if no one acknowledged any other comments (I'll have to take your word for it as to the frequency) I made, I might start to wonder if something was up.

I've never understood why people want to have an LS on and then not say anything at all. If you people don't want to see people chatting, take the damn thing off. Or at least have the good sense not to bitch about it when people do chat.

No, they would get some hello's but they were miffed that they wouldn't get MORE. And the incident that sparked the drama was started over us being to busy at FAFNIR to pay attention to them and say hello. >< So that started the "well this time only so and so and that guy said hello and then another time...." kind of crap. Seriously, I don't label people attention whores unless they deserve it. lol
