      I think he refers to necroposters who think they're so brilliant in answering questions already answered by somebody else months ago, without even looking at the date.

        My current FFXI pet peeve is people who are still running around with Chocobo Knight speculation. Just because they saw a picture of a knight-looking type on a chocobo.

        People, there is no such job in the history of the series and I don't think they're going to add a mounted fighter to the game when no one else can fight on the back of a chocobo. In fact, its kinda against the FF rules. Chocobos are for (1) transportation and (2) to avoid aggro/random encounters.

        The origin of the Chocobo Knight craze is from none other than Allakazham forums. Drdre, a taru BLM of Titan saw the E3 CG photo and speculated about a chocobo knight. From there, people just took it and ran,

        The only time the term "Chocobo Knight" has ever been used in the series is FFX. The Crusaders, an extension of the church of Yevon, had a divsion of the Crusaders called The Chocobo Knights and yes, they did fight riding on chocobos. But they were not a playable class.

        Also in the beginning portions of FFXII, the knights of Dalmasca did fight on the backs of chocobos. But in both games, all you could do with chocobos was avoid encounters and use them for travel, par for course.

        Now, I'll concede it is possible we might all take part in some riding sequence in some battle or even be able to give our chocobos armor, but a whole job class? Nah.

          BBQ. People are retarded. I mean, there was an entire thread on why/how Mystic Knight would be feasible.

          Now there was some intelligent speculation in that post, but for the most part, too much effort was put into something that SE wouldn't read when considering how to create a job class.

          (It's most obvious that they listen to the fans, such is the nature of a persistent online game. But I doubt they'd take job skills, traits, abilities, or what have you verbatim.)

          So my pet peeve at the moment are pointless essays on unrealistic ideals.

            Well, thing is, the Mystic Knight thing is a fun "what if" discussion. Chocobo Knight has begun and ended with "ZOMGChocoboKnight" which is annoying since people keep bringing it up with no substantial idea or discussion behind it.

            It is fun to take a job not yet added and a build around it, I don't think its that we hope SE will see what we made up and add that, but that some have a large interest in how games are designed and they want to see how things pan out if and when these jobs do happen.

            I'd be delusional if I thought SE picked up Dancer on my behalf, much less my original concept (which was very convoluted). It was just something I wanted to see and - yay- Dancer is happening. What direction SE takes the job in will be interesting to see. I'm praying for the Mog take.

            Its also just interesting to me to puzzle out how to take one of those old jobs and apply it to the online realm. While I love COR to death because it gambles, I kinda acknowledge this was probably the best version of gambler SE could put online. Gil Toss, Slot/Reels and Red Card and all that are abilities that were probably harder to bring over, but it remains true to gambler in theme at least. Each iteration of Gambler was slightly different anyway.

            Just look at all the crazy ideas I had for merit abilities. None of them happened, yet I'm very satisfied with the ones SE chose for us, even if they're not flashy. Plus the most recent adjustments also changed how we used our merit abilities, improving them in some ways.

            Truth is, SE often comes up with a solution to various issues that players just don't consider. While the two-hander fix wasn't perfect initially, most people were just concerned about getting a fix for their two-hander, and they had all kinds of ideas. SE decided to hit them all at once.

              Well, I don't always trust S-E to get it right. Look at the disaster which is Puppetmaster... here we are well over a year later and it's still a job without an identity to call its own.

                Er... have you seen PUPs lately? They're main-healing and joining up for manaburn PTs now. This on top of being able to solo pretty well. If anything, that makes avatars and wyverns seem rather inadequate on the magical end, not PUPs and their Automations.

                Or are we (/sigh) trying to imply the lack of an endgame role? Because if that's what you mean, then BST is still in dire need of one. I see PUP working pretty well in Salvage, Dynamis and Limbus content. You could probably put PUP in SMN or BLM PTs now at endgame.

                Problem is, most endgame content is still lacking for ToA jobs. Limbus, at least, should be updated to include PUP, COR and AF+1 for BLU.

                I don't think PUP will ever be anything more than a light DD at best, but what it comes with now kinda justifies its lacking DD capability. PUP can outclass RDM on Cures and Nukes and do decent ranged damage as well (they do quite well on colibri camps), does the player-character job itself need more than it has? I have to wonder about that.

                      BBQ: I've been hearing Chocobo Knight rumours since before COP, so it's not like we can blame this on one single source.

                      For what it's worth, I wish FFXI had some sort of Cavalry system, but that's for a different thread. Which I won't because people creating threads on how they'd fix FFXI and fine tune it and act like SE gives two shits what they think about it is a pet peeve.

                        BBQ: Pups do a good job nuking with tier 4 in dynamis, though our second in command doesn't want to depend on "random" to heal anyone here, no matter how good she and her automation is. Endgame is kind of stil dead set biased on pup >_>;

                        New peeve. DM that has crappy leaders. Went to do DM with Raydeus last night on Nekoai. LEaders said supertank is the best way to go.... poof wipe as soon as they got there. Second orb, phailed utterly due to people acidently going in before it was even traded. No third so I just bailed.
                        <_<; Anyone that says they did research(or done it before) on this fight would know, its mannaburn or kite is only way to win here. Coming up with a half baked strat loosely based on CoP airship mammets doesn't count. Favorite quote of all that, "We only need 1 orb" .... yeah, right, never expect DM to go easy the first 2 times <_<;

                          Actually, my shell has done DM with the supertank strategy a few times and it worked great.

                          I can't debate that you had a crappy leader or perhaps group, but the strat itself is sound.

                            We just manaburned it, the only reason we wiped (but recovered to win) the first time was because one of the BLMs apparently doesn't know the difference between "Tier IV" and "-aga"

                              A spaz co-leading Dynamis isn't new. Sev's shell was threatening to kick people for soultrapping Dynamis Lord.
