  • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

    New one:

Playing DRK tonight, mages who would cure me the SECOND I got hit. Let me get a bit of "pain" so I can Drain! Drain is a VERY effective spell. It saves *you* MP on curing me and it hurts the mob at the same time! Don't cure me if I want to use Drain!

I even changed my Drain macro: "{Casting spell.} {Drain} ~~~ {Cure} {No thanks.} and I still got the Cure spam every time I took some damage. Even while in the midst of casting. COME ON PEOPLE, IT'S A ONE MINUTE RECAST!

    So frustrating.

My Pet Peeves are topics like this and the people that post in them. (Ironic because I am posting in this topic.) Naw, I am just kidding.

My pet peeves are scammers, RMTs, people telling me to do my job, people who think they know more yet I have played most likely 2x longer.

      And worst of all....

People who just think they are better then everyone.
~~Example: They will be an ass to you in /tell or /linkshell and then when you tell people they use some stupid "rep" to say it never happen and turn it around on you. Reputations are overrated and everyone has a little asswhole in them and people need to realize that.

Yeah, we had already been fighting. I'm sure she saw my damage, but didn't mention it at all.

She did die in the party right after her statement though. :D

          ^^ Karma always gets you.

People who try to camp at the beetle camp in CN when there's already a party there. That camp is good enough for one party only. Not enough mobs for two to chain regularly, and it results in suck xp for everyone involved.

Then as PT leader, I had to deal with my party members being dicks in /say to the other party while I was trying to diplomatically discuss it with the other party leader, which in turn caused the other party to get in an argument, even after I told my party to STFU so I could civilly speak with the leader. -.- Gotta love immaturity, huh?

Anyway, the other party ended up leaving, not because of me trying to be nice to the leader, but because they were 36-37 trying to fight the beetles when everyone knows you should be about 39-42ish, MAYBE 38 though that's pushing it.

I also lol'ed, as they had 2 PLs.

Did anyone say anything about the overabundance of BLUs subbing NIN? I could rant all day if anyone didn't right now.

Ehhh, even after seeing your damage she complained? Assuming you weren't doing badly, otherwise I don't think you'd have posted in the first place. And awesome that she died. xD I'd have been like "lolperson. Your sky gear didn't seem to save you there...although gear isn't everything, right? :]"

People who focus too much on gear suck. I tend to take gear into account, but only if you're wearing say...Courage Rings at level 74. But I mean, not everyone does sky and has all their leet gearz, so I don't ever judge people on that. Rather aggrivating when you're assumed to suck before you get a chance to show anyone. I steal hate on MNK, and I don't have good gear...so I don't like when people assume less of me.

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

I forgot another pet peeve of mine in FFXI. I don't like it when someone helps you and then later talk to you like you're their bitch since they helped you out and they act like they can boss you around. They wanna treat you like you're their slave since they helped you out and it's like "You owe me." Yeah I owe you, but I'm not gonna be treated like that or else you're simply getting black listed.

I do bring "my own echos". About a stack of them. But those are for emergency usage. Like, say, we get a link or two and the mages are too busy to give me Silena.

If I had to use an echo drop every time an Imp silenced me, the party would have to stop every 15 minutes so I could go back to Whitegate to buy more. The mages won't appreciate that, I assure you.
While I agree that the mages should be Silena-ing people, if you expect me to have echos, then I expect you to as well. If you have something that requires magic to cast, then you should be prepared to remove the silence effect yourself. Cost really isn't an issue here, just NPCing the crystal that you'll get exping will more than cover the cost.

But on to my lastest pet peeve. Poeple that don't bring relevant items to events/exp. I know blm/rdm is better for damage, But be prepared to use a reraise hairpin then. 150-250 MP to raise people is a huge drain on a mages MP when the refresher is the one kiting and can't keep you refershed 100% of the time.

Same goes for any melee in dynamis. What could of been a 5 minute set back with a wipe, turns into a 20 minute delay because the mages have to raise, get MP, raise others, on and on for 10 minutes while swiming in a sea of 30 dead melee that require R3s because as soon as they ding 75 they decide to swap to merit mode. But meh, at least I always have RR3.

                    I lol'ed

If will Silena, esp the tank first - but if you expect me to main heal, haste, refresh (if there's a blu or drk etc) and -na, then something has gotta give.

Its NOT about being lazy, its about the simple thing called I cant cast 5 spells at once. Ill try my best and I will get round to silena'ing you, but if I skip/miss due to over events (like adds, aoe from flies, etc) then bring your own fudging echos and stop bitching about it.

                    UNDERSTOOD?

EDIT: and if you wanna bring your own Hi-Pots, be my guest. Id appreciate it even more.

Against Imps, I'd gladly sacrifice Haste in order to get regular Silenas. If I'm routinely pulling hate on a WS and can't get Utsusemi back up because I'm silenced, even more hate from being Hasted is the last thing I need.

I agree that the tank needs Silena first. If hate bounces between 3 or 4 melees regularly, they can probably survive on just 3 shadows at a time. But if hate is just bouncing between "the tank" and the 1 melee doing the most damage who also happens to be subbing NIN, you should probably look at your pt as having dual blink tanks.

Skipping Silena because you don't have enough casting time is like robbing Peter to pay Paul. That spell you didn't cast could lead to extra Cures that you have to dish out.

                        Maybe you misunderstood.

If I had the choice of Hasting you or silena, I would do the latter. Im not stupid -.-

Im saying if you needed a silena, but there was an add/critical cure/etc needed, dont bitch if I skip over you.

Being an rdm (or any job I guess) is about prioritisation. Sleep/Cure/etc > Silena most times.

Im not saying or even bitching about having to silena peeps - Im bitching about:

People that expect everything at once and makes it worse by spamming /p. All Im saying is, if you are gonna be casting, bring echos. There will be times when you will need them if the mage is too busy doing something else.

I think thats what you are missing Lyon.

Oh lord, thank you. I'm not the only one. This happens when I'm on WHM.. All the time...

Hasting 5-6 people, buffing, debuffing, curing, resting, its tricky to manage it all sometimes. I lost my sh*t at this Monk in one KRT merit party once. Just shouted him down I was sick of him spamming his current status in the chat screen. Cause I'm a moron and can't see the ice spikes paralyzing the whole party.

I do believe I shouted "Wait your goddamn turn!!" to him.

Just because you have Kirin's Osode does not make you more important than anyone else in my party.

Now, I really must point out - it may seem like us "lazy mages" whining, and in fact, we are.

Not lazy mind you. Just the whining part. But half intelligent people can sympathise. Either that or you have never played a mage or have forgotten lol.

While on status removal topic, I had a good one the other day. As the only mage in a 6 man party, with 1 brd/nin and me as whm/blm we had a mnk that would bitch and moan about poison.

I'm sorry, but if I have the option to let you sit there with a -1hp/tick while I get some MP I'm not going to interupt my clear mind to poisona you. You have nearly 2k HP, STFU and wait for your chakra timer to be up.

                              I really try my best to be on top of status effects, but melee don't seem to understand that mages have to pay attention when in a party. We're not just sitting there spamming one or two macros over and over again. But oh well, I'll just envision my dreams of letting a damn mnk die from a -1hp/tick poison until the day comes that they understand that. >.>;

OBVIOUS RMT. And I do mean OBVIOUS. The ones that make you scratch your head that they're still allowed to play even after one hour of being on your server.

I mean come on, who doesn't know that a level one naked Galka fishing in San d'Oria named Wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww is RMT? And that is buddy, Ggggggggggggggggg, is, too? (Yes, these people do exist. I saw them the other day, and again yesterday.)

I mean, come on. It's so obvious who they are and what they're doing. And if I were to call a GM on them, all I would get is, "We'll look into it." YOU HAVE ALL THE PROOF YOU NEED HERE. Boils my blood. If it weren't so obvious I could look past it. But it's So. Freaking. Obvious.
