It goes both ways. I've been in parties where I've patiently waited for stuff like Silena and Haste... and waited... and waited.

Example 1: TP burn party in the Mire. I'm there as a WAR/NIN, level 74 I think (I had Ni). Tank was NIN I think, but I was doing enough damage that I routinely pulled hate. The WHM made sure the NIN got Silena when Deafening Tantra happened, but for some reason he didn't seem to think I needed the same thing. This continued for about an hour when one of the DDs in the party left and was replaced by a DRK/THF. The DRK started getting Silena from the WHM, and I'm still left out of the loop. The DRK wasn't even pulling hate.

Example 2: Excavation Duty. There were 2 RDMs in the party, along with some DDs, which included me as WAR/NIN and a MNK. If you've done Excavation Duty, you know that you don't do a whole lot of damage to those rocks per hit, and it can take about 5 minutes of melee'ing to take one down. So haste is really helpful. Over the course of the first two runs, only the MNK got haste. The MNK was pretty decked out, including a Black Belt. Between 2 RDMs, they only managed to haste the one melee that already had a ton of haste. I finally asked for Haste on the 3rd run, which I got. But only once right at the beginning of the run, and I was then hasteless again for the rest of the run.

Well, Id say then that you should give the mage a chance to prove they arent worthless first. If then you still get nothing, then say something.

WHat I'm talking about it is people that know they will get whatever they are waiting for but yet still insist on spamming requests.

Of course, If you come to know the mage is generally switch on and you get left out, a request wont hurt.

Plus, if you're in the mire and fighting imps, go bring your own echos. The mage will appreciate it.

This happened in a party I was in last night as my RNG.

They all agreed to fight Colibri's. ok. Fine. Remember, Colibri's eat food.

With that in mind, why do the melee keep crying, whining, moaning, bitching about the Colibri's using Snatch Morsel on them? Why why why? They KNEW that's what Colibri's do.

Once Snatch Morsel was used, they use another +1 food they had, seconds later.... Snatch Morsel... a minute or two later... "Dumbass uses Expensive Food +1"... next battle.... Snatch Morsel...

            OMGWTFUWY(@@@(UJ@# STUPID BIRD @*@( H(@^(!

            /sigh

Seriously people... if you insist on using expensive food, maybe Colibri's aren't your targets. If you still want to fight Colibri's, stop bitching about them using Snatch Morsel every single time.

Oh yeah, and did I mention that after they finished their stacks, they went back to Al Zahbi... Why? To buy more!!!!

            DOH!

Oh yeah, another thing... and this was in the same PT... the other RNG was leader.

She starts asking me if I have this or that, several items and such.

The thing is... if you happen to have all the fancy gear, that doesn't necessarily make you a better player!

Note: Too lazy (or don't care) to censor out names.

Next fight after this conversation.... she died.

I'm rather disgusted to see that last statement. I honestly hope that she goes and diaf or falls down some stairs. >_> How can you ask all those questions, and then to your face say that she thinks she's better than you? That's ridiculous. Had you guys even started fighting yet? Did she see your skill, your damage, etc? What a douche.

Don't I recall you spamming requests from me when something happened (like paralyna, silena) within 1 second of the effect landing...

That's what I really hate: not necessarily melees who spam for things, but those who spam it BEFORE IT REGISTERS IN MY LOG.

My chat colors are such that detrimental effects that land on the mob or people in my party are this nice orange color. I can see when things happen, even with all the activity going on (I don't filter out damage and such because I still like to parse occasionally). Half the time, my spell is going off and is around 50% before I see their chat in the log...

Ignorant people. =/ Today I attempted yet again to shout for Ouryu. I actually got some /tells today, which had me pretty stoked, got a WHM BLM and WAR/NIN WAR/NIN, which means we only needed a tank. I was excited shouting for the tank, hoping for the best. Then the BLM apparently checked the party list and says; "...You're not going as THF are you?" Apparently I can't, cause of this thing called Spike Flail. I ALREADY KNEW THAT. Why would I shout for something without any prior knowledge? I explained I wouldn't even dream of going behind Ouryu, cause I didn't want to wipe us. He says okay, and continues to throw in comments here or there, telling me how to do it. Eventually, the same BLM says "You know guys, our set-up just isn't going to work, bye." ...after that, every other pt member left, and I was left leading a party of one. His ignorance caught on to each member, and then screwed me of finally beating Ouryu. At least I'll do it later with smarter people or something? >_> All I know is I can't stand that everyone assumes that the mission has to be done with a certain set-up...blargh. D:

^^ Yeah, cookie-cutter "ZOMG you need a SMN to beat that!!!!111" mentalities annoy me, as well. It took me two years to get Promies done because of jackasses who wouldn't even attempt to help without certain jobs in the party.

Granted, we know what works and all that, but is it REALLY so bad to have one less Summoner than usual, or to bring an unconventional job such as THF along?

It's really no consolation to most folks, I'm sure, but I would totally do COP missions with any job combination, as long as the players were competent, and interested in winning.

Mmm, I just wish I had friends, or more open minded people to do CoP with. =/ But, I feel that if I can get Ouryu done with THF or MNK, I won't have any trouble finishing the rest with my melee jobs, that's one consolation at least ^^

And Murph, you're free to join Midgard, my LS will gladly welcome you. We're somewhat small, but there should almost always be someone on to talk to, and we're a tad bit too helpful at times.

Maybe I should bring a Hi-potion tank or ten. Then they wouldn't even have to heal me.

I do bring "my own echos". About a stack of them. But those are for emergency usage. Like, say, we get a link or two and the mages are too busy to give me Silena.

If I had to use an echo drop every time an Imp silenced me, the party would have to stop every 15 minutes so I could go back to Whitegate to buy more. The mages won't appreciate that, I assure you.

I agree...it's nice having a stack for emergencies where the mages are unable/too busy to throw you a silena, but having to burn gil spamming them is silly. I once partied with a JP Bard that would always use her own echos, even when I told her that I would remove it.

It's just that when the Imps pulled aoe silence, I would hit the tank first...during that 5 second cool-down, the Bard would always use Echo Drops and it made me feel horrible, like I wasn't doing my job, lol. Erasing status effects(or in this case, silena spam) is our role as mages and any that give you crap about it are just lazy imo.
