My LS woes always seemed to stem from me not fitting in. Either I was too new to the game and too low level, or I was too... too.. Actually I'm not sure why the LS after that didnt like me. I think it was because it was a big LS with lots of people that had known each other for a long time, and I was jsut someone who joined after hearing a shout in Lower Jeuno. Now, I basically only stay on one LS of my closest friends: 2 RL friends, and 3 chaps from Canada I met a while back. Definitely my best friends in game.

I've been there.

There have only been two linkshells (well three, if you count the one I led, but that's because I controlled who was invited) that I really felt like I fit in with. I'm not sure what intangible quality they possessed that others didn't, but they had it, and I actually felt like part of a team.

Every other LS, however, has found me either completely out of the loop, or seething at the stupidity of it's members. None of them were what I'd call a bad LS, per se (well, one), but they weren't the right LS for me.

It's harder than some people might think to find a real online home in these games. When you do? Totally hold onto that.

My pet peeves are people who take advantage of people who help them and then later decide to take credit and brag about it on sites like Allahazam :

Fact: Guppies little team couldn't kill lol KA by themselves.
Fact: They invited people from outside their group to help kill this incredibly weak NM.
Fact: She assigned QM to herself without consulting the rest of the Alliance or giving them a chance to lot since they were the only reason the NM was killed at all.
These are the facts, the rest is just details.

I only have a couple:

1) when you finish up a party in the jungles of Kahzamm, log out for the night, log in the next day as a 29 BLU/RDM(no sneak, invis, teleport, or warp) and almost to the ent. of Kahzamm you get an aggro. The lvl 75 that has been killing all the other gobs in the area proceeds to watch yoyu "bind" it to try to let him attack it(he was watching me with my back to the mob getting hit for 40 a hit) and he procedes to let it kill me before he takes it out and goes back to his farming.

2) when you are in a mission and it takes fighting the same 20 min spawn NM because the drop gets messed up(I lotted but the other person who didn't need the rare/ex item didn't pass on it-and since he couldn't carry more than 1 it got dropped--he did this twice before we figured out what was going on)

However, how exactly did the game allow the above to happen? If it comes down to a player who has lotted and a player who hasn't passed -- but hasn't lotted either -- the game always chooses the one with the lot, correct? Not lotting is like having a lot that is effectively 0.

If the game doesn't behave in the manner I described, what's the point of lotting? You could attempt to beat a lot of 999 by simply not lotting at all.

It happened in the Magicite mission. I think it happened with a list of items(we had a lvl 75 that was taking out all the mobs in Davoi). 1 min I look at the treasure and it has 8 different items, the next min the list has 2(but none of us passed or lotted). I figured it was maybe a glitch.

The fact that after spending a {long time} looking for a tank, he then proceeded to disconnect after about 20 fights. Then after spending another {long time} looking for another tank, that one disconnects after about 8 fights.

We finally did find a tank who wasn't going to d/c, but then the MNK had to leave. /sigh.

My biggest pet peeve at the moment is SE's inability to sort out the issue with certain Nvidia drivers. As it is, I can't go back to older ones (my card isn't compatible with them), so anytime I am anywhere near a bard song, I get crazy lag.

I would like to level BRD (again), but I can't even imagine how terrible a job I'd do if I had to deal with crazy lag every time I sung a song.

You'd just have to filter out the Bard songs' effects. I think I still have effects filtered after all this time.

I've only played for a month, but I have a couple of pet peeves. One is that I'm a black mage and seem to attract a lot of hate from monsters. The problem is I die a lot...maybe its just that I don't know when to cast, but sometimes its the WHM in the party. I was in a party once where the WHM always healed me when I had close to full hp, but never healed me when I was on the verge of dying. Sometimes when theres a PL helping the party, a WHM will not pay attention to the game thinking the PL will heal everyone, and as a result I always end up dead ='/

I completely agree. Lag with effect shouldn't be an issue. However, it (sadly) is. I have to turn the weather effects off because Wind and Earth weather make me lag like nobody's business.

I think the filter is Party Member to Party Member (or something like that). I'll keep the effect up for myself just for the hell of it (and just so I see it in case I miss the chat log) but I don't keep the effect up for my party members because, honestly, why do I give a fuck about the animation for my party member's Protect?

Good point. I just like that extra visual cue that a spell went off. I've turned off all effects, and I'm going to see if that helps. I miss BRD, but it's bad enough just having one in my party, much less being the epicenter of the lag like that. So maybe this'll help.
