I really think there should be a way to disable those. There are ocassions I don't mind them if they are important. But generally the less noisy ones work just a well.

Smn in my dyna shell had a <call> in each of his summoning macros. He died, and I was the only whm. I cast raise on him and he starts bitching about not getting an R3. I just said I couldn't hear him since his macros caused me to go deaf. Tried to have me booted from the shell too, but really, who's going to pick a smn over your only whm thats there evey week?

Some calls don't bother me. <call14> I think is the least annoying of all of them, and <call5> is the absolute worst. 10 and 11 are all right, and the one that sounds kind of like a gong is all right, also. I really think calls are only appropriate when you need to get everyone's attention quickly. Such as "{Gather together.} {Chainspell} {Escape} in 3! <call>".

My pet peeves.. here I'll use a single example. This thread on Killing Ifrit. I know almost everyone involved (some are friends, some are people who lost my trust, some are just idiots):

- People who treat other players like dirt (Deijixfx, {Hijinx} aka Altoc)

- People who lie, cheat or steal other players. (Guppie, Clarion - need to read the whole thread and talk to everyone involved to understand this)

- People who interject my name when I'm not involved, nor do I care to stoop to their level. (Guppie)

- People who change their stories around after they lie and expect someone's mind to be changed. (Guppie, Clarion)

- People who take offense about RL pics being posted, when the person themselves not only admits that the pic was posted publically for all to see but also gladly posts their pic everywhere and also posts their out-of-game contact information, including their job.

- People who put trolling comments into an already stewing situation, especially when they don't know anything. (Liarpatrol, Cire1, Battousaipwns, Yup, Clarion, Arrithon)

- People who create drama (EVERYONE in the thread except the mods and the ppl posting animal pix to drown out the drama)

I have played my entire FFXI experience without sound. So <call> as much as you like, doesnt affect me!!!

(For those of you wondering why, due to my room layout, my PC has to be located next to my son's Cot, and the only time I get to play is when he is asleep, so sounds have to be off)

I really do wish there was an option to turn off just the first three or four call sounds. A friend of mine had the "failed victory" sound (I think it's <call5>?) for when he died, though. Cracked me up every time.

I really do wish there was an option to turn off just the first three or four call sounds. A friend of mine had the "failed victory" sound (I think it's <call5>?) for when he died, though. Cracked me up every time.

Maybe not just off and on, but a volume bar, that way you can have your sound/music/calls, all at different levels of sound, and then little check boxes for off/on, that way you can do it ingame, and not just in the options app.

Headphones work wonders for this, especially wireless ones.

Yeah, I did contemplate using headphones...but I really dislike the things. I guess I just got used to playing without sounds...

In fact I think I have a pair if wireless headphones somewhere deep in the murky depths of my garage... meh

Or the battle music in most CoP zones. I'm not sure when else it gets used, but I love the music playing when you install CoP.

1) People who can't take a joke.
2) Whms who go afk for 2min and dont come back for 30min
3) People who blist you that you have never met
4) "Friends" who stabb you in the back for endgame gear LOLbyakko's
5) People who call you a compulsive liar yet tell everyone that they kicked you fro breaking a ls rule that doesnt exist.
6) People from 1 + 2 who call a gm because you said lolmpk some hour earlier in the pt.
7) People who call a gm on you cause their ig boyfriend doesnt like the fact your friends with a girl they stalk
8) GM's who say "Even tho It did fully look and seem like an accident no mpk intended you were doing ur job as a ranger and pulling... We are going to have to suspend your account due to the fact, that the White Mage did not want to die so that was a mpk"
9) GM's who lie about ur release date
10) Ifrit ls who buy pop items (melior etc)
11) The hand full of ifrit people who admitted to buying sky gear from RMTs
12) Finally when I go off on a mini rant and waste your time.
