Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
When it comes to those role-play macros, personally I don't mind in certain situations. They're usually not a bother to me unless they're applied to the more commonly-used macros (like cures, status removal, nukes, enfeebling, constant buffs, and other such things that are continuously being used). Even so, Role-playing macros can be annoying regardless if used in most EXP party situations. I tend to save a seperate Role-Playing macro set for when I do missions, quests, and quest/mission related BCNMs (not NORMAL bcnms, etc) just to add a bit of "flavor" in the experience for me. Two scenarios:
SCENARIO A:
(Eiyoko) {Provoke} ---> Shadow Lord
Eiyoko uses Provoke on the Shadow Lord.
SCENARIO B:
(Eiyoko) Your fight is with me, Shadow Lord!
Eiyoko uses Provoke on the Shadow Lord.
Scenario A would make the boss fight kinda boring for me, while Scenario B would make it a bit more memorable and exciting (in my opinion, at any rate).
I usually keep any of my role-playing macros away from the say or emote channel, anyway.
I'd also like to state that one of my pet peeves is those RP macros with BAD GRAMMAR AND SPELLING. PHAIL. *sobs*
Then again, bad grammar and spelling in general tends to get on my nerves.
