Being too nice, as well as "my brew, my loot" logic. Epona's ring drama and all that.

To put it simply, a friend and I duo'd the NM's for Rani pops, my friend blue proc'd her to have both the ring and earring drop... but instead a complete stranger gets the items because "my brew, my loot" linkshell rule logic. My friend dropped the linkpearl minutes later.

I was going to type a long wall of text, but ultimately ended up deleting it because it may have "stirred" well. My TLDR version is that neither red proccing, blue proccing, nor brewing necessarily takes any monumental amounts of skill. While it's true that you guys did all the 'work' by building the pop and subsequently proccing blue on it--I would have seriously doubt you two would be able to kill Rani without a brew. On the flip side, the brewer was wrong for taking loot from the pop you two worked hard to get. So the question remains, were there any loot rules established prior to popping?

They might have been your friend's LS member, but that doesn't discount them as being complete stranger on the internet (and thus subject to the typical asshole behavior). I find that people are generally not going to help for free without some kind of benefit to them. Perhaps they brew--they get the drops, they brew--the popper pays them gil, or something.

We both knew we wouldn't have been able to win without a brew and while my friend probably could brew her, he said his timing is a little off (accidentally healing her and what not). I joined the Linkshell around a week ago and my friend the same day as Rani kill. We weren't informed of the brew-lot rules until after Rani was killed and after the brewer lotted on Epona and Hecate. The Rani run was also for people needing the win for Shinryu access. All that said, if we had been informed about the rules before the pop, we would have paid the brewer (a free lot would have been fine, too).

our shell has 2 basic rules

1. Sack - No inviting crazies!!
2. If you have drama, keep it in /tells

It may have been someone else's brew, but at the very least, the brewer could have chosen one of the two items seeing as they did jack shit for building pops. That's just a jackass player.

On top of that, 1 voidwatch run usually gets you 100k - 150k curor if you don't get cells. Qilin/Kaggen/Pil/Akavan are pretty common on Cerb...I would think everwhere else too.

As for Rani. its been a while but I think you can do 2 WS then wait for it to cast or tp (which ever one cures it). then 2 WS and wait...keep that up till death. Either way those things are annoying as f(*&.

There have been a few Voidwatch shouts in Valefor, though not a single shout for people who have yet to start them (I've only done two Voidwatch runs, myself). S'mostly Delve run shouts, now. Though even without Voidwatch, there's still the Abyssea worm/miscellaneous party option. It's a slow process, but you make a pretty cruor in the end.

My friend and I do plan on duoing Rani at some point in the future, though I'll be the one doing the brewing (now that I've finally beaten Shinryu and got the Abyssite). If what I'm reading it right, I should use Hexa Strike while it's casting magic and Flash Nova when it's readying/using a TP skill.

I just don't get how Shantotto became the face of Final Fantasy XI when it comes to games like Dissidia or Theatrythm. Prishe certainly, but Shantotto? When there are a wealth of other characters to choose from? I'd have gone for Prince Trion, Ajido-Marujido, Volker, or Lilisette.

Or even Maat.

I voted Ajido-Marujido. I remember, when I was still a n00blet, how he would just nuke things from out of nowhere and his blatant disregard for what people thought of him. And Chainspell Nuke IV, when such a thing wasn't possible for players. It was so glorious....

I was always upset by the fact Trion and Volker wear generic player armor, but Ajido has his own unique clothes that the player can never acquire (granted, it's reserved for Windurst ministers...but still...)

For me being a noob since this past January it is the lack of other players to do things....love this game and yes I am late, what can I do? I also notice some real snobs when it comes to my gear or a question I have.

She was more popular in Japan. If you want Square Enix to do anything, the Japanese fanbase needs to demand it. Still she would hardly have been my choice given how badly she treats the player no matter what you do, or how much you help her. Plus she gets away with everything and barely plays an important role in the game, even in the Windurst storylines

As for Prishe... It's very hard not to make lolicon jokes here (especially since she gets a swimsuit from the FFXI summer festival in Dissidia), but at least she was actually important in two major storylines XD. I actually enjoyed playing Prishe in Dissidia though, her moveset and Ex Burst were interesting; plus the image of a little girl beating the crap out of the major FF villains is hilarious and awesome.

I used to have the boundless ability to keep myself entertained. Final Fantasy XI used to do that for me. I still miss what it once was and quit because I don't derive any enjoyment from it its current incarnation.

But on a day such as this, it would've really come in handy. Downpours and no one to talk to and all that....

Ordered a new headset last week and it finally came in. There's a high pitched whine coming out of the headphones all the bloody time, gonna have to return it. Don't buy Corsair Vengeance 1500 headsets guys.

That sounds like it could possibly be a hardware or driver issue. Have you checked your soundcard drivers and the connections to see if everything is in order?

At any rate I can tell you it's not a driver issue. I tried it with both vanilla plug and play drivers as well as the official drivers straight from the website and it didn't change a thing. Pretty sure I've got all the proper mobo drivers installed too but I don't have a dedicated soundcard so maybe that's got something to do with it? Either way it's currently unacceptable, especially since my last headset worked perfectly straight out of the box.

I want to ask/talk with people about FFXI stuff.

Unfortunately, outside of the game itself, I seem to be the only person I know of who knows anything recent going on whatsoever.

I wish I had more people to actually talk about FFXI with. :/
