omfg healing skillups. These last 8 points just will not happen. I've been sitting here casting cure on myself nonstop with a pitaru on and the last skillup I saw was nearly half an hour ago. Beh I'll just have to kite some undead later when I have more time. Anyone know where some 99+ undead mobs are? Don't say vampyr in the Oubliette.

Beseiged, dude. Beseiged. Pop a pitaru and cure the generals nonstop.

Alternatively... what level is your adventuring fellow? If they're over level 90, you can cap curing skill on them the same as if they were a Beseiged general.

I've yet to find a better way to skill up healing magic.

If you're dead set on doing it via undead mobs, my advice is to head into Abyssea and pick on the Skelitons for the kharn spawn. Those are squishy and don't cast any AoE spells.

I didn't even notice healing skills hitting cap, I think it was while meriting one day. I didn't ever go out of my way to cap it.

I know I had this conversation with Yyg on Saturday but I think the main thing preventing me from jumping ship to Cerb is concern about what the EU population is like. Given how small FFXI's current population is, I'm beginning to suspect that there isn't much of a concentrated EU or GMT Prime Time Playerbase on any of the servers.

Can you cap in besieged at 99? I assumed that anything in there would be too low level to cap on. Likewise with the Schlitters in Aby-Attohwa.

I think the Schlitters can con DC at 99, so could theoretically cap on them. I wouldn't swear to it, but I seem to remember that.

                      Thirded.

Additionally: I'm trying to convince Hayde that transfering to Cerberus is worth it. If he comes over, you have Romy, Squiggs, Hayde, Rookieguy (Romy's bromance partner and incredibly helpful and thoughtful dude) and myself. We're here... and we're not insanely overpowered.

I would also be glad to backtrack to old content with you. I have a lot of fun replaying the old stuff... and if it helps you in the process, all the better.

                      Think it over.

Unless you have an ochain pld with you to supertank all the defenders while you fight the roots, colonization reives seem to be impossible outside of prime time. Ceizak has gotten completely overgrown in the past four hours. The dozen people here just cannot pull it off. Gonna have to find some other method to earn bayld.

I've played FFXI at one point... but nothing in what you just said makes any sense to me. D:

Ochain is from abyssea. All the other jargon is new in Adoulin.

Those rare good exp parties in the old days, where you met 5 other competent people who weren't dicks and killed stuff together for a couple hours over light chat, those were good times. Especially way back in the day before most parties had "burn" in their names, and people worked with thieves and did SCs or even MBs, etc. Back in like 2005 when there were party dynamics basically. It's been a steady degradation ever since.
I think if there is anything I miss about the old days, it's the altogether more organic feeling the game had. Parties were slower, but they felt more purposeful. Being geared along the way mattered, not just the end result. As you slowly got access to more abilities, spells, and traits, you got to see yourself grow and progress into the job (I remember, on RDM, getting Convert and Refresh was something I practically celebrated because they just streamlined things so effortlessly). To continue leveling, you had to travel to different locales, from Valkurm to Qufim, the jungles, Garbage Shitadel, Crawler's Nest, the Altepa deserts, Quicksand Caves, Cape Terrigan, Labyrinth of Onzozo, Bibiki Bay, Boyahda Tree, Ro'Maeve, Ve'Lugannon Palace.

That's actually one of the things I liked about soloing through BST. On top of those, I also spent some time getting EXP in Jugner Forest, Fei'yin, Sanctuary of Zi'tah, Toraimarai Canals, and other zones people don't often find excuses to go to anymore.

Sometimes, I'll see a video of some fights pre-level cap increase like CoP missions and I do kind of lament the game in its present state. Nobody will ever experience the fights this way again.

...Then again, all the changes that were made along the way were made in response to player trends. Nobody was leveling jobs anymore so lowbies had difficulty leveling, for starters.
