As far as I know soloing him is dangerous. He caught me unawares once on smn99 and ripped me a new ass.
I think there was testimony once that a pimped out smn @99 solo'd him but was called out as Bs by others, I'd like to know what your approach to the monster was like as thr ying yang robe is a peice I've always liked.

Wow at 99? My BST is 99 and I was going to duo him with a friend of mine who was 99 Empy+2 THF. We have Treasure Hound this week for our server so we had in mind to get him to drop that Robe. Two 99's shouldn't be a problem since I was going to pet tank him on Falcorr. I mean he's no Abyssea NM and I accidently took down Bune while skilling in Gustav Tunnel. I didn't know he was a 24 hour Wyvern, went around the corner and boom there he was. Dropped me down to 500 HP in 2 hits so I called Falcorr out (last minute) and had Falcorr rip him a new one. Bune is stated to be Level 80 on the Wiki and Shikigami Weapon is 78. If I solo'd Bune on BST I'm pretty sure 78 wouldn't be that much of a big deal. Then again a NM can make you eat your words in a heart beat with the right weaponskill.


Here was the strategy I had in mind.

Treasure Hound gives you TH+1 and Gilfinder with Signet
Beastmasters Faithful Falcorr gives TH+1 as well and Gilfinder (on the wiki)
My THF friend had Treasure Hunter VIII with all of his gear and the Dagger.

So that puts us at a grand total of Treasure Hunter X (10). So I am pretty sure the chances of us digging up Yinyang Robe would be fairly high.

Constructive Criticism:

1. What were the subjobs you both were planning to use/using? Shikigami spawns invisible in the zone and can only be aggrod by casting spells near him. You'll need your WS to find where he is (usually dead center of the map) and then just camp on top of his ass spamming spells until he pops out. Also, he links the weapons in the area (not that it matters... they still aggro to 99's anyway).

2. TH doesn't "party stack". You'll get the effects of whoever has the highest TH in the group. If its the THF, you only get his Base trait TH at 99... which is 4... unless he is capable of procing TH on the mob for the remainder... which would put him at 8. Your TH is only 2 at best... it wouldn't matter. Use a different pet if you want.

I think only the highest tier of treasure hunter applies.
Once your friend applies lvl 2 th I think your and falcors Th becomes void.
I might be wrong it's been a while since I thieved anything.

2. I know he's invisible. Which is why I came on BST (no brainer) for Widescan.
3. He can be fought outside the party and be influenced by other TH then claimed on another person. I do believe.

1. Incorrect. The wiki is wrong.

2. I wasn't critiquing your choice of MAIN JOB. I was asking if you had the foresight to come as /mage. Finding him won't matter if you can't get him to come out.

3. Also incorrect. And even if you did that, it wouldn't stack. For instance. If you were to hit a mob with Falcor and put TH2 on it... your THF buddy would then walk up and proc his TH on it and you'd see the message in the log stating that the total is still ONLY 8. If what you're suggesting were possible, that method would be exploited to all hell in order to increase odds of drops that have a very low % drop rate. It just doesn't work like that. Sorry.

I can’t imagine this NM being hard with any job at level 99. I’ve duo multiple times on bst with Currier Carrier back in the day.

Although it’s probably not the best idea going as smn since everything there aggros to magic and sound. And to even find him you’ll have to /rng or /bst…not a great sub for Smn.

A solo Bst should have no problem killing the NM and 5 links lol

Not many safe places to pull or kite if needed for a smn.
As for the drop, even with no TH it always seemed around 40% or so.

Also…I haven’t played smn in a while but why would you go for YYR?
There’s plenty of refresh bodies out there.
I think there’s plenty of –BP pieces as well
Caller's Body would be better whenever you have an avatar out.
Wouldn’t you rather the -4 cost and +BP damage?

I went on 99 BST/49 RDM hun. I read up on him before hand. Friend came on 99THF/49 DNC (naturally). But the 21 hour window is too annoying to wait out just for that body piece so I am shooting for the other one (and much more stylish) body piece that you get at the end of ACP. It's only 12 Missions.

Well the Yin. Robe gives me -5 to BPD....but it's at arms length. The other one (forgot the name) gives me -2 Perp which is alright but better than nothing since I can re-augment it at any given time for what select jobs (That i can do) needs.

They're both awful. At 75 they were BIS but at 99 they're both awful. AF2+2 and AF3+2 bodies outmatch both of them easily on all stats. The only beneficial stat to the YYR that you can't get elsewhere is the -5 BP timer and even that is pointless if you get yourself a Magian Avatar staff (not hard to do). The gear available out there for -bp timer is enough to make both pieces obsolete. Stylish or not.

And stop trying to talk down to me. I stated from the get go that I was providing constructive criticism. I didn't mock you or taunt you or berate you for your job choice. I simply asked if you had come /mage.

Shikigami can be solod by BST easily even with links. SMN would likely have a tough time unless you got Shikigami alone.

YYR gives +1 refresh. ACP robe is -2 perp.

YYR used to shine because it was Refresh instead of –perp. So you gain mp even w/o avatar.
And the -BP, but there lots of pieces to lower that.

Like i said. There are TONS of better bodies.

You’re a Bst, why not try for Summoner’s doublet +2. 1 or 2 days worth of dynamis farming.

The only beneficial stat to the YYR that you can't get elsewhere is the -5 BP timer

Relic 2+2 gives -6 ^^
