Honestly after I quit I have no idea what happened to most of them. I lost touch with everyone from that linkshell except for Cerealkiller, who was my boyfriend for about a year and now we are just really good RL friends. The server merge happened and I have no idea if/how the shell was reestablished. Some of the best times I had in FFXI were in Excellence though. Getting into that shell was probably my crowning achievement in the game.

Yeah... many moons ago my LS, MXCMercenaries, found Dierdren and 2 others attempting to kill Turul. They failed. They totally expected us to steal the mob cuz they had Excellence pearls. We took the mob, brought them on-board, and got them a proc to their utter amazement, lol. Yet, nothing dropped. That was the last time I saw Excellence pearls.

It is amazing…seeing as how they would have stepped all over you w/o hesitation. It’s happen to my shell before as well as plenty of others.

They were disrespectful to others and arrogant as fuck. I’ll admit they did have top of the line gear for their time, but I also saw them wiping to some of the stupidest things sometimes. Iunno…maybe they were just messing around

Killed maybe an hour of their time which is really just a drop in the bucket, but I was enjoying all the QQing and hatred for bsts they had.

I've done that to several other groups with my DNC... I find it hilarious. I was on the opposite side of it when a PUG I was in was trying to get one of the KI's for RR NM. They were bitchin' pissing and moaning and I was in /t with the guy asking what gear he was using and telling him don't worry about us... I needed a break anyway, lol.

And my LS has a leader that's a really really really nice guy. He has held back many of my LS-mates from stealing mobs. Most of the people, tbqh, wanted to steal Turul but nobody will cross our leader.

I haven't had much interaction with anybody from Excellence other than Aks. I think they raised me one time cuz I was wandering in the past and came across them fighting Dark Ixion. I had no idea at this point that a mob's AoE could possibly kill me even though I wasn't fighting it. Took em' a little while to see me but they did eventually raise me.

I've met quite a few douchebags from other LS's though... typically end-game BS.

not quite sure about Dier(sp)'s history, but i've done some recent VWs with her. pretty down to earth, nice chick. She must have checked me couple times when i was working on guttler because she congrulated me when i got it...(did not have much interaction with here prior to that)

there's a girl in our shell the dispises her for some reason...but i try and avoid chick fights.

The problem with a high profile shell like Excellence and a few others that are well-known on the likes of BG is that there's a whole outside perception. People hate you because they're jealous and a lot of minor interactions turn into major drama events because people are like, "Well she's in Ex, she must be a total fucking bitch." A lot of people were very surprised to hang out with us because we were cool people who also loved playing FFXI. We just didn't put up with n00b. At all. Incidentally, it was the n00bish people who would get the most angry, since they had no concept of how bad they actually were and they thought we were just being mean to be mean. We were actually really cool with a lot of people from rival linkshells, we used to joke around with some of them at camps. They were all cool people. People who weren't in the endgame scene were the ones who hated us the most, probably because they didn't understand us, I guess.

I'll admit I was very intimidated when I first started with the ls. But after a few weeks in, I realized that they were just people who liked to play FFXI. They were very skilled and knowledgeable people, people who'd played for a long time and done all there was to do in endgame, but still people. I was extremely intimidated by Stanislav when I first applied, but I talked to him on vent so many times after I got in and he was just a cool guy who was a good leader (and really good at programming, our DKP was the best), not some kind of endgame god.

The problem though is a lot of people hear stories/rumors about people or an experience that happened in like 2006 and use that to judge the whole of what we were. Do you know how many people came and went from that linkshell over the years? Excellence underwent a lot of changes over the years, and a lot of people held grudges for such a long time it was ridiculous. People told me about reasons they hated Excellence from back in like 2004. I was in the linkshell in 2008-2009. I think less than a handful of people were still in the linkshell from way back when ... how are you going to hold a grudge over people for being in a shell, when they weren't even remotely involved? It's like black people blaming me for my ancestors having had slaves. It doesn't really make much sense.

Then again, I guess that's what prejudice is all about. It just felt so dumb to me, that other ls I was talking about a few posts back, they hated Excellence, and for nothing other than a bad experience from five years before that. I mean really? It's so stupid to hold a grudge that long in a fucking video game.

Pretty much. I guess I felt the same way when I first started posting on BG, but when I got into it they're just cool people who like to laugh at stupid people. Like the people who seriously post on the Official Forums.
