Well, Wildfire has an insane fTP modifier and COR has access to a lot of MAB gear. I've never really noticed the stat mods affecting damage output all that much honestly. On DRG I can drop a Raiden Thrust in nothing but STR gear and I'll just barely get the same damage I would from just a normal TP phase hit. Lots of MAB gear seems to be the way to go, but most melee jobs don't have a lot of that to work with aside from some "All jobs" pieces.

Seems like an uphill battle.

From what I've seen, Cloudsplitter seems like one of those weapon skills that you won't use outside of Abyssea because of the, aforementioned, lack of MAB gear.

Honestly, I can't. After it reaches a certain threshold I end up either lashing out or I walk away and wait for Greatguardian to come in and lay down some sensibility, although it never seems to take.

Yes. I was mostly just comparing the weaponskills from a no-atma standpoint.

Sometimes being brash is appropriate. And, at least from the thread I read with the exchanges between him and those other 2 I mentioned (the subjob one), it wasn't him to came into the thread with guns blazing. In fact, reading some of Greatguardian's responses in said subjob thread, it sounds to me like he responds pretty fairly.

Is there really any other response to be had when dealing with Saevel? He Greatguardian may not be all warm and fuzzy but a good deal of what he says is spot on.

I witnessed the full extent of this today. Our LS leader organized an outing to kill Dragua today to use up the 8 or so pops we had for him. He came as COR with Armageddon (omg can't wait) and with his full MaB+ set and a choice of Atmas I have to ask about... he was throwing out 68,000 damage Wildfires and 1-shotting Dragua on a brew. Granted... I was meleeing it down to 82% while the mages worked on Yellow proc... but he managed to throw off 1 Fire Shot with Quickdraw followed by Wildfire to finish it.

We got all 8 of our kills off the same brew because he would lock himself on the martello in the downtime between kills. It was brilliant and amazing to watch.

Peeve: True Lottery Pop NMs

NM: Hovering Hotpot
Location: G. Citadel (Behind Banishing Gate 2)
Spawn Time: 1 1/2 Hours from the last ToD
PH: Skeletons. There are 3 of them in the area that Hotpot Spawns. They appear in 2 formations... either x2 Mages and x1 Melee or x2 Melee and x1 Mage each on a 5min repop timer. The second of any set of 2 on WS is the PH.

In the past 12 hours I have been camping it, I have decided to rule out the possibility of error and kill all 3 Skeletons every time they spawn. Upon arrival, I joined up with 2 JP DRKs already at the camp waiting for Scythe trials. We spent the first 8 hours waiting for 1 spawn. They wound up leaving at the 7.5 hour mark only to miss the NM spawning the moment they left the zone. I now have 1 kill and have been here an additional 4 hours waiting for the second pop. 1.5 hour wait time on the window my ass. I hate true lotto pops. It's going to take forever to get all 4 kills I need. Thankfully, this is the last lotto pop NM I need before I move on to VNMs. Those things are a walk in the park.

In my years of experience, this has got to be the most stubborn true lotto NM I've ever dealt with. Everything up until now had spawned within 2 hours of it's window opening. 8 hours is just bad luck/retarded.

Not gonna lie…during 2 of my NM trials I fell asleep after 1 kill (seriously I wasn’t intentionally being a dick) and woke up with finished trials.

Infact, on my frog trial (ramp in W.Sub[s]), woke up to a completely different party

That's the reason I don't think I'll ever do an empyrean. I've never been a fan of camping an NM, and waiting 8 hours would have me /ragequitting long before I ever got there.

I should explain more about this one.

The area that it spawns in is incredibly small. All 3 of the Skeletons as well as the Wight that spawn there, aggro to 95. Anyone who's been beyond banishing gate #2 knows that those hallways are incredibly small and and contain NO SAFE SPOTS TO AFK IN. I tried to afk in a spot I thought was safe to go get a drink and take a shower before I had to get ready for work. I came back and I was dead with a Raise effect on me. Thankfully, one of the DRKs came as /whm and was albe to get me up without making me to run the whole way back again. Turns out, the only vacant spot on the entire map also happens to be an alternate spawn location for one of the skeletons. Unless the DRK/WHM was constantly healing me, I couldn't AFK in the zone for more than 10 minutes.

Normally on a mob this frustrating, I would try to AFK and let the JPs do all the work for me for a while... taking turns going afk and such... but with nowhere to safely AFK, its just not an option. I wound up constantly killing skeletons to avoid being killed myself.

I came as COR/RNG to use WS... not knowing how close quarters this was going to be. That being the case, I was resting for the 3 minutes in between spawns to regain as much health as I could to prepare for the next wave that would want me dead. I spent much of the time in the zone (after the JPs left) in the yellow fighting for my life. I did manage to get my Fellow up 2 levels while I was there... so that was nice. 3 hours after the only kill I got, I wound up giving up and letting the flood of undead take me down. Next time I go in to camp it, I'm going as /DNC. It's probably the only was I'd live long enough to camp it alone.

For real. Between my hatred of camping NMs and the horror stories I hear there is very little incentive to actually build an Empyrean. The Abyssea leg of it would be a breeze but there's no way in hell I'd make it through the NM camping portion of it.

Relic/Mythic or bust.

Peeve: I think my endgame shell dissolved while I was taking a break/having the internet cough up blood. It was empty at event time last night when I checked it.

So…instead of camping what…6 NMs a few times you’d rather spend a couple months in dynamis or salvage (or where ever mythics come from)?

Honestly? Yes.

Building a relic just means spending time in Dynamis racking up money which you can put towards a relic or you can cash out halfway through and be rolling in gil to spend on whatever. You also don't have to rely on the whims of a random number generator to make progress.

Then again I am horribly biased because I think Exalibur is sexy, the DRG empyrean is lackluster and who doesn't want a Ryunohige?
