I had the following conversation in Crawlers' Nest yesterday:

meleeBLM: because i don't have refresh, i don't want to use all my mp
Squiggs: GoV book {Do you need it?}
meleeBLM: that refresh can't keep up with the mp i would use
Squiggs: Maybe, but how do you know?
Squiggs begins casting Refresh
meleeBLM receives the effect of Refresh
meleeBLM begins casting Ice Spikes
meleeBLM receives the effect of Ice Spikes
(repeat this step a few times)
meleeBLM: {Refresh}{Can I have it?}
Squiggs: no

I have been a big supporter of the faster levelling that GoV brings to the table, but I'm not so sure its a good thing anymore.

Any time a Black Mage starts swinging at things, you should immediately start looking for an excuse to escape from the party. They always seem to show up in Crawlers' Nest too, even before GoV was introduced.

I was getting some good numbers in dyanmis (1500-1800) but it's not as reliable as rampage.

Half the mages I run into these days are depressing. Hell, I have 2 or 3 LS members that play whm fairly often. There pretty good in Abyssea, but for anything outside, it’s like they need an adult to hold their hand.

I mean seriously, how does a 95 whm with a group of five 95 DDers (couple of them being Bst) run out of MP halfway through a non-boss nyzule run…

My guess would be they are too reliant on refresh atmas and not enough on /rdm refresh or Sublimation. They either levelled it after Abyssea came out and therefore have no idea how to play it without insane amounts of refresh, or they forgot how to play it since they have spent too much time in Abyssea. Either way, I wouldn't invite them on WHM anymore.

By subbing Black Mage and not having an idle set? You'd have to really work at it these days.

I don't remember the last time I ran out of mp outside Abyssea, let alone inside. It's been awhile.

To be fair though, I sometimes catch myself hovering over the Cure6 macro outside Aby. I guess it could take some time to get readjusted. But, if they are running out of mp, then it is taking too long to adjust.

It just gets frustrating. I remember having a pretty good hMP set for smn when I was in my main healing stages. I was usually able to cure as well as pop a few BP wards every couple fights. Of course at that time it was just BPs…they weren’t split between rage/ward. Man I’m old…

There was another incident that I may have spoken about here before. A LS member burned up whm and did a dynamis run with me. she was pretty much out of MP by the time we got all the TEs in Valk…so annoying when the Bst in the party has to tell the Whm/rdm to refresher herself and /heal when she’s not doing anything. +3 refresh from gear is not going to save you.

Firewind realises that the card has not been activated.
(Firewind) Oh well I can just activate it at an ATM tomorrow.
Firewind goes back to playing Skyrim.
Firewind goes into town on Tuesday to use ATM to activate the card.
Firewind returns home also carrying tasty Subway to feast on before playing FFXI

Firewind's resubs to FFXI, discovers that nobody is around because it's 11am GMT
(Firewind) I know I will play Skyrim!
Firewind's family knocks on door at 7pm with Pizza
Firewind decides to play FFXI tomorrow
Firewind notices Steam sale on Wednesday. Firewind attempts to buy game but card is blocked due to fraud flag.
(Firewind) FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-
Firewind calls bank, finds out that card was blocked by FFXI payment for the fourth time in as many months.
Firewind will have to wait until Friday for yet another card to come by post.
Firewind goes back to playing Skyrim.
