    Meh, I don't like crafting. I took Alchemy all the way to 56 and just burned out on it.

    Tonight's peeve: Red Mage's AF3+2 is doing terrible things to my spellcast.

      I thought it was bad when I lost an Empress Band charge to paralysis. So if paralyze procs when you use a toolbag, you lose the toolbag? Wow, that's harsh.

        Error Code (s) 4001, 3001, and 3201.

        These have been making it tough for me to play for any length of time. They all have to with the FFXI server and not my connection (or so I gather), but I haven't found any way to make it stop happening.

          Probably something to do with your router/gateway/firewall settings. Potentially someone else eating up your bandwidth with something. Could be your ISP too. Always hard to tell with non-specific errors that say little more than connection lost.
          You might be stopping to enjoy the game instead of rushing to cap, but that is not normal now. -Mhurron

            My connection doesn't get interrupted on my desktop or my wife's laptop. I don't even get signed out of Xbox Live, I just lose connection to the FFXI server. I have a password protected wireless (not that that is the greatest thing ever, but I live around a bunch of retirees), so I don't think someone is siphoning my bandwidth. It seems wholly connected to FFXI. It happened once early last night and then I was good the rest of the night.

              Yeah, MMOs do something funny based on what ports are forwarded or what the settings are, so everything else works just fine, it's just when you try to play a specific game that it gets all messed up, so it's not necessarily something on the server's end, it's just the one specific program and how it interacts with your settings. Whenever I have to fix something, I'm a fiddler though; I just fiddle with settings until they work. I had a particularly annoying situation once when I was multiboxing WoW and one computer, and just the one, would disconnect when it tried to download the info for everyone around me. Turned out to be like one port that that single machine was trying to use. I have a hodgepodge of OS's, so it was just that one apparently being finicky.

              Another time I had to switch my wireless network type from 802.11g to 802.11n, or to g/n. Usually it's something small and inane to anyone but some programmer somewhere who thought it was a good idea to direct traffic through one and only one place.

                  I'm annoyed by this as well, but I think it applies to the FFXI base as a whole.

                  I swear that you'd be hard-pressed to find a more unpleasable fanbase than the FFXI community, nowadays, almost regardless of job.

                        Keeping up with the official rdm forum yesterday made me depressed, gave me a headache, and made me appreciate what a high percentage of non-asshats we have over here.

                              Besieged NMs. Got through Mamook. It was a trial. We had around 4-5 DC's we had to wait for... then when we finally got into the room... Gulool Ja Ja hadn't gotten the memo to meet us there. Guess we try again tonight.
